I would highly recommend this course, my daughter learned and progressed so much on the level 2 art and design course which she completed in one year. The tasks and assignments set helped her to gain many new art skills and styles using different materials. The way the course is written is very well structured and easy to follow with lots of guidance and help from the tutors who went the extra mile to be supportive, friendly and very constructive. With the skills she has learned my daughter has now progressed onto the level 3 course.

There has been lots of ups and downs doing this course, but overall I'm happy with my experience.

For the positives, the feedback I received was very helpful, I am in a very different place in my artistic journey now than when I was starting the course after utilising this. Over 8 units, I learned a lot about what I liked and disliked and the benefit of development and dedication. The tutors are also very understanding and supportive, and were flexible when it came to accomodating outside priorities. Their encouragement has also helped me feel more comfortable sharing my work with others and seeing the value of constructive criticism. The admin also provided me with all the extra documents I needed to apply for university in a timely manner which I appreciate a lot.

Some things that could be improved were the frequency and quality of tutor communication and the accuracy of knowing important dates like when tutors would be on break. At times, I found that the feedback was difficult to understand even after clarification so I'd have to ask a few times to understand better, or I wouldn't get an answer within the expected timeframe, which was a bit troublesome towards the end of the course as it was especially crucial then. There have been a couple of times where tutors would get dates like term breaks mixed up and the information shared between the handbook and tutors would be different, so I had to ask specifically for the correct dates. I do know that many of the tutors work outside of the online course as well, so I understand why issues like this would come up, though I hope going forward such obstacles can be dealt with efficiently.

This course has been a great experience, and I have created a lot of work I am proud of. My only wish is that communication between students and tutors was improved on, but other than that, I would definitely recommend this course.

I'm doing the level 2 art and design qualification. I think it's really good because it's so accessible and flexible.
I can work at my own pace. All live lessons are recorded so I can work whenever I like.
It's all online so I can work from home.
And there are no exams, it's all coursework based, which is great for me.
The tutors respond quickly and are very helpful and understanding.
I'm on the SEND 2 year course. It's very expensive but I got it payed for by the local authority through my EHCP.

Doing the OCAD photography course, has been an amazing experience. Learning lots of new techniques within photography, with fab support of my teacher (Alberto). Allowing me to reach my full potential and helping with new ideas and expanding my knowledge so I was able to produce the best photos. Really enjoyed this course and would recommend.

I really learned a lot through my Level 2 Photography class with Mr. Gonzalez and will definitely be able to take what I learnt and apply it into my photography moving forward. Thank you so much for providing this course!

Starting the course with OCAD was a little rocky as I found engagement from my tutor low. However, when I raised this as a concern the head of OCAD was willing to help and assisted in finding a solution to my challenges.
As I progressed through the course, I found that engagement from my tutors really improved. I was able to gain feedback quickly, and the advice given was extremely useful in my development as an artist. My tutor helped me to find the artistic avenue most suited to my style and supported me at every step. I was an able to gain a lot from the course and I have seen my skills improve as I started to refine my ideas, exploring both primary sources and artist research. My tutor gave me constructive feedback regularly to ensure that I was continually learning and developing a strong portfolio. I am really pleased with the improvement I have made throughout this course, and I really appreciate all the help from my tutors.

Overall, all the tutors I worked with on the course were really lovely, and willing to help when I faced challenges. They helped my development and allowed me to develop a portfolio I am proud of.

My daughter has recently completed the Level Three Art Foundation Diploma with OCAD. We have been extremely pleased with both the course content and the 1 to 1 tutorial support- we have to give a special mention to Jo who has been an amazing consistent presence of high quality professional knowledge and encouragement.The course has allowed my daughter to flourish by :

removing barriers to learning
understanding the specific needs of the students learning patterns
working in partnership with parents to scaffold support
supporting with next stage sign posting and options

Altogether this has provided a truly personalised learning experience that has enabled completion of the course and an opportunity to move into higher education with a developing industry skills set.

My daughter has just finished a two-year Level 2 Art and Design course with OCAD. It has been a great journey of discovering a lot of new skills for her, and she has got three large sketchbooks filled with amazing artwork now. We are grateful to all the teachers and staff for all the help and support that our daughter received.

Have only just begun the course but have been very impressed so far. Excellent and swift feedback. Friendly and very helpful with any teaching or admin issues. Great for homeschoolers.

Brilliant teachers, well taught and explained course

I liked the classes and the feedback I received was always helpful and constructive,
however I feel it would have helpful if I could have booked 1 to 1 conversation appointments when I was doing my final project. The worksheets on my final project changed in the middle of my project, When I started the final project there was very little documentation.

Foundation Diploma in Art and Design

Although a lot of people have had a positive experience with OCAD I’m afraid mine was the opposite. My original tutor (Anne) was very supportive but left a few months after I started, and the course was then overhauled. I ended up leaving the course partway through due to the lack of regular direct tutor support (after Anne left) and poor communication overall.

My experience with OCAD has been incredibly positive, constructive and enjoyable. My tutor has offered me lots of support with my work, but also finding confidence as an artist. I have been encouraged and applauded for experimenting and exploring my capabilities throughout the course. I have really appreciated the understanding and positive, motivating attitudes my tutor has shown when I have when I have struggled to come up with ideas and doubted my ability. I have been encouraged to continuously develop as an artist resulting in an unconditional offer from Kingston University to study Fine Art. Thank you so much!

I started the level 3 art and design course in 2022. In the middle of my experience at OCAD the entire course got redone. For me this greatly stalled my progress, and was a quite frustrating at the time while everything was being revamped, however my experience has meant that I have been able to see the clear improvement which has been made to this course. Previously, there were no group calls, lectures or tutorials available on the course, and the projects were often limiting and didn’t allow for as much creativity. Now there are a couple of different lecture series available, group calls and helpful tutorials. The project briefs also now allow a greater amount creativity and diversity. I’ve really enjoyed my last year at OCAD so far. I would say that the course could still do with more regular and frequent tutorials on specific painting, drawing techniques and methods etc. as I find these the most helpful, however I know that some things are still being adjusted, I have no doubt that this course will be wonderful for those starting in the future, and I would definitely recommend this course!

The past year at online collage of art and design has given me the opportunity to really be myself in my work and dive deeper into things i enjoy,it has shaped me into a more independent individual and has pushed me too see and explore the diverse world of art and design.I personally also believe that it has prepared me for university and the ever changing industry of work.

I appreciate the coursework but think the tutoring system (and the use of Teams) could use some reworking

This course has really helped me explore so many fun areas within art. The tutors are extremely helpful and friendly, I would recommend to anyone.

I decided to undertake Level 2 Art and Design with OCAD as someone who has come to art later in life. I have found it inclusive, encouraging, and learning the creative process has really allowed me to trust the artistic development process and not get too hung up on perfectionism, which was what was holding me back before.

I have disabilities which have meant I haven't progressed at the rate I would have liked, but the tutors were fab and understanding and I have extended an extra year. I am about to finish year 1 and I am so happy I stuck this out, and I can't recommend OCAD enough.

Communcation is digital via a 1-1 online chat which works really well.

Respectful, kind, encouraging teachers - such a refreshing change from the educational system I experienced as a child.
