Wrote a romance where the protagonist looks like me and not like a standard romance cover model. Never once did the team suggest I reconsider that choice for commercial reasons. The cover reflects the character accurately and beautifully. Readers who look like me have been finding the book and the messages they send are the kind that make you understand exactly why representation in fiction is not a trend but a necessity.

Wrote a romance about people in their sixties falling in love because those stories almost never get told and the people living them deserve to see themselves on the page. The team never suggested I age down the characters for broader appeal. Readers in their fifties sixties and seventies have found the book in droves and the emails I get from them are the most joyful correspondence of my life.

Submitted my manuscript back in early 2024 after sitting on it for two years because I was honestly terrified of rejection. The submission portal was clean and easy to navigate which sounds like a small thing but after dealing with some other companies that still make you email a PDF with fifteen attachments, it genuinely matters. Got an initial response within three weeks. My developmental editor was brilliant she didn't try to change my voice, just helped the story was dragging. The AI-assisted proofreading they use caught stuff even she missed. Final book looks gorgeous. Already recommended them to two people in my writing group.

They appear less than ethical or moral of doing business with. Contacted again to hold the team accountable of written, voice recorded promises.
Email received from Richard their rep and I am still getting the run around routine. At this point it's no longer about a refund they put in writing along with verbally recorded phone calls.

If I could give zero stars, I would. This was the worst experience. Edits were not done correctly multiple times. I would tell them simple things like quotation marks and periods and they still wouldn't get them. I ended up doing all the editing myself. When I finally got tired of the incompentency, I asked for a refund as I was not getting what I paid for. They turned to intimidation and bullying tactics to try and deny my refund. I eventually got my money back by disputing with the credit card company by showing evidence through numerous emails over months of the unprofessionalism and incompetent work. It was a learning process in who not to choose for self-publishing.

The team struck a good balance between professionalism and approachability. Editing notes were detailed but never overwhelming, and questions were answered without judgment. Marketing support felt more like consultation than sales, which made the experience more comfortable.

By the time I reached publishing, I was honestly exhausted from revisions.

Having someone else handle the formatting and setup lifted a huge weight off my shoulders. That made it worthwhile.

I kept changing my mind about the cover, the layout, even the title at one point. Somehow they didn't lose patience with me. They helped narrow things down and kept things moving without pressure. Now the book looks way better than I imagined.

Holding the printed copy for the first time was kind of unreal. Seeing my name on a real book made all the effort worth it. They played a big role in making that happen.
