Buckle up, because this ride is bumpy! It all started with a LinkedIn message from a consultant who had a job opening. Sounds promising, right? Wrong. He shared a grand total of four lines about the job. When I asked how this role fit my background, he ghosted me like a bad Tinder date. Red flag number one.

This consultant was pushing harder than a gym trainer on a mission. Despite my reservations, I reluctantly agreed to proceed. Then, he officially sent me the job spec—under a completely different name. Red flag number two.

Here's where it gets juicy. He wanted me to rewrite my job titles and responsibilities to match the job spec. I’m not an actor, buddy! I refused, but he was as persistent as a telemarketer at dinner time. He also demanded all my references up front. I said, "Not before I know who the end client is and have a confirmed interview!" Common sense, right?

Next thing I know, I'm wasting even more time with his senior colleague and finally the head honcho, whose name matched the email. By the way, they'll force you inside IR35 whether you like it or not, and they'll make you use their preferred umbrella company to earn a few shillings.

The late-night calls were the cherry on top. Do these people not own a map? I ended up blocking them everywhere—online, phone, email, you name it. Phew!

For example, someone would contact me for documents that I had already submitted, or the communication was slow or unresponsive for some matters.
