If I could give zero that would have been more fair
I have a car leased from Avis
There was an accident on the 8/12/25
They were supposed to get the car in the garage on 30/1/26
At this point they never called and I called them 3 times in February and 2 in March and every time they were saying the same thing ‘we will look into this and call you back’ while the car was unsafe to drive and no replacement car has been arranged
As per everything in Greece through a mutual connection I managed to get the car to the garage on the 16/3 to replace the whole of the drivers door
They said they will get it in the workshop 19/3 and will take 4-5 days as per Avis
2 weeks down the line nothing happened (they did give me a replacement car with a much lower replacement value) and when I called the garage they told me it will take 4-5 weeks !!!
When I said to them this is unacceptable we agreed to get a new car from them and again this was significantly delayed again
Not only this but they asked me to continue paying my monthly leasing fee without having a functional and safe car for 4,5 months !!!
Just avoid this company by all means !poor organising skills,extremely poor communication no value for money

Η εμπειρία μου με την Avis ήταν απογοητευτική.

Χρειάστηκα το δεύτερο κλειδί για το αυτοκίνητο που είχα σε leasing, και εξαγόρασα και δεν μπορούν να μου πουν πού βρίσκεται. Το αναζητούν “παντού”, χωρίς καμία σαφή απάντηση ή ενημέρωση.

Είναι αδιανόητο ένα τόσο βασικό και κρίσιμο αντικείμενο, όπως το δεύτερο κλειδί ενός αυτοκινήτου, να μην γνωρίζουν πού βρίσκεται. Δείχνει έλλειψη οργάνωσης και επαγγελματισμού.

I had a very good and speedy experience checking in and getting the car. However, the condition of the car was not great with multiple scratches and dents although not appearing in the contract and I was advised to take photos of whatever marks I find. Although it was obviously washed, it was still quite dirty. The steering wheel was trembling at speeds over 60 miles. Finally, my headphones mysteriously disappeared from the glove box where I forgot them (totally my stupid fault). I called them to check when I landed 4 hours later but I was informed that they did not find anything there.

!!!AVOID AVIS!!!
I hope a manager somewhere will review all these terrible reviews and take action to improve this unacceptable situation. Avis has a really disappointing customer experience.
Here is our short-story: my company and I were supposed to hire a van for 7 days. The very first time we contacted them -October 2025- the sales person informed us that the price was 1650€, but due to a system issue the reservation could not be completed. The sales person assured us that they would keep the price and finalise the booking when the problem got resolved. For two months, we were trying to confirm whether the reservation had been made, but nobody could give us a clear answer. Finally, after two whole months -December 2025- (and of course we called them again), they informed us that the price had increased to 2500€. We will definitely not proceed with the booking and will never choose AVIS again and suggest it as well. Their customer service is extremely poor.

Mir wurde nachträglich ein Betrag von meinem Kreditkartenkonto abgebucht, weil der Tank angeblich nicht voll war. Der Tank war bis oben voll. Das ist Abzocke. Offensichtlich ist das eine Masche, um einen zusätzlichen Profit rauszuschlagen.

Book and prepay a car for Chania Greece. We added the flight no in booking and we landed at 00.05 with 2 hours delay and the Avis office was closed and nobody to deliver the car. We had to pay extra for taxi. The next day we asked for instructions and the office told us to search the site for company policy as they are only "employees". Stay away.

Worst rental company ever!!!! They charged me after I returned the car for some insignificant reason and for something that was not my fault. Pls do not rent from them. They are cheats!!!

Kan ikke anbefale Avis i Athen lufthavn.

Lejede en SUV i Athen lufthavn i september 2025. Bilen var fuld af buler og ridser, det raslede fra motoren og den ene sikkerhedssele var i stykker. Den ringeste bil jeg lejet i mine 35 år med kørekort.

En positiv ting var det at afhentning og aflevering fungerede gnidningsløst. Men på alle andre parametre var det en dårligere oplevelse, end de gange jeg har lejet fra lokale billigere udlejningsselskaber.

Awful company. Booked car hire to pay when we got to our destination, and while I was on the bus from the plane to the terminal I get a call at half 11 rushing me saying the desk closes at 12 so they will send me a contract to accept prior to getting to the desk which I never received that text and never accepted any contract and they tried taking £650 off my card without my permission when the original car was £630. They didn’t have the original car we wanted which I understand but we didn’t want the alternative so we left it at that with the person on the phone and they never advised us that we would pay a no show fee or anything. They have now took a ‘no show’ fee from my card, I phoned the Rhodes desk and the lady was no help after explaining all of this. Seems like they just want money and the customer service is shocking! It’s 100% put me off ever using them in the future.

We arrived out of baggage went to Avis they took a few minutes there was 4 of them doing nothing,he said go pick your car up around 400 meters away .
We. Arrived 2 in line there was approximately 15 staff all doing very little one smoking a rolled up cigarette all with no intrest to help I spoke with some more Avis clients behind us and they say biggest shambles they ever seen

AVIS Karpathos – a warning!
My first impression of the rental agent was disastrous – arrogant, condescending, and outright rude. We did not receive the car we had booked, but another one that he repeatedly pointed out was “brand new”. So what?
Upon returning the car, he hunted for something to charge us for and finally pointed out an almost invisible scratch, barely 1–2 mm (!) on the plastic guard above the rear wheel. For this we were forced to pay more than 500 SEK. Damage of that size is ordinary wear and tear, not grounds for outrageous extra charges. His behavior was not only aggressive and unprofessional – it felt like a deliberate strategy to extort money from customers.
The communication was short, arrogant, and borderline threatening. When I asked how I should handle the insurance papers, he sneered “it’s written on the paper” – which was entirely in Greek with no instructions. When I asked again, his only response was a cold “then scan it.”
This conduct clearly shows a systematic and dishonest way of scamming customers:
• Handing out a different car than the one booked.
• Hiding behind the excuse that the car is “new” to justify outrageous fees for invisible marks.
• Treating customers with an aggressive and disrespectful attitude.
My experience with AVIS Karpathos is that the business is utterly unserious and engages in criminal behavior that should be investigated by the police. No traveler should have to risk falling victim to this scam

Πρόκειται για την χειρότερη εμπειρία ενοικίασης που είχα ποτέ.
Έκανα κράτηση αυτοκινήτου στη Θεσσαλονίκη και πλήρωσα 479€, ενώ δεσμεύτηκαν επιπλέον 60€ για καύσιμα (προέγκριση συνολικά 545€). Το αυτοκίνητο το επέστρεψα φουλαρισμένο, οπότε τα 60€ έπρεπε να αποδεσμευτούν. Αντί όμως να χρησιμοποιηθεί η προέγκριση για την πληρωμή, η Avis **με ξαναχρέωσε τα 479€**, αφήνοντας την αρχική δέσμευση των 545€ να «παγώσει» στον λογαριασμό μου.
Αποτέλεσμα; Είμαι χρεωμένη δύο φορές και περιμένω εβδομάδες για να πάρω πίσω τα χρήματά μου.Προσπαθώ να επικοινωνήσω μαζί τους εδώ και πάνω από 10 μέρες. Όταν τελικά έλαβα απάντηση μέσω email, αρνήθηκαν ότι με ξαναχρέωσαν και έριξαν την ευθύνη στην τράπεζα.Η τράπεζα μου επιβεβαίωσε ότι το ποσό θα παραμείνει δεσμευμένο μέχρι τη λήξη της προέγκρισης, εκτός αν ο έμπορος (Avis) δώσει εντολή για άμεση αποδέσμευση.
Στην πραγματικότητα, αντί για άμεση αποδέσμευση, απλά άφησαν την προέγκριση να λήξει μόνη της και προσπαθούν να με πείσουν ότι έχουν «δώσει εντολή».
Πέρα από το ότι δεν αποδεσμεύουν τα λεφτά μου, **δεν παραδέχονται το λάθος τους** και συνεχίζουν να λένε ψέματα.
Το πιο ανησυχητικό; Έχουν τα στοιχεία της κάρτας μου και τραβούν όποτε θέλουν χρήματα, και μετά το αρνούνται.
Είναι απαράδεκτο μια τόσο μεγάλη εταιρεία να λειτουργεί με τέτοια προχειρότητα και να αφήνει τον πελάτη της χωρίς λύση, κρατώντας του ουσιαστικά «ομήρους» τα χρήματα. Η συμπεριφορά αυτή δείχνει αδιαφορία, έλλειψη επαγγελματισμού και πλήρη έλλειψη σεβασμού προς τον πελάτη.
Δεν θα ξαναχρησιμοποιήσω ποτέ τις υπηρεσίες τους και προειδοποιώ οποιονδήποτε σκέφτεται να το κάνει. Μεγάλη προσοχή είναι απατεώνες !!!

Booked for a car which on website shows as fits 4 large luggage, with 4 passengers. This was not the case. Only fits 3 large luggage up to roof and 1 luggage in back seat with passengers. Very uncomfortable travelling with 4 in car and passengers in rear squashed for long distance travel. AVIS did not respond to emails and lack of understanding.

ich wurde leider offensichtlich abgezockt: Es wurden 69,00 € von meiner Kreditkarte abgebucht – angeblich für das Nachbetanken des Fahrzeugs. Dabei habe ich das Auto vor der Rückgabe für 35,00 € selbst vollgetankt. Den Tankbeleg habe ich Avis auch direkt als Nachweis zugesendet.

Leider wurde dieser Nachweis bislang komplett ignoriert.

Ich habe also insgesamt 104,00 € für einen halben Tank bezahlt – was in keinem Verhältnis steht.

Usano scuse per farti pagare di più per essere piccolo guidatore ma ho la patente da più 4 anni.
Non prenotate assolutamente da questa agenzia, vi aggiunge soldi e danni che NON avete causato voi!!

Worst customer service ever...

I wanted to extend my rental by a few days, I called 3 days ahead.
I called thier office at the airport, I was told that I cant extend my rental, but I need to return the car, go on line and arrange for a new rental!
Bad bad business idea, as I rented a car cheaper from another provider..

This company shows no RESPECT for their customers. I booked on line and my airline cancelled due to Athens strike so I immediately sent three emails asking for the next day rental with NO answer . I not only was charged the day of their strike but I ended up paying three times my initial booking and deeply regret not booking where my son-in-law and my son book their cars from . Never Again will I book from this company.

H χειρότερη εταιρεία μακράν. Το αμάξι έπρεπε να μείνει στο συνεργείο για σέρβις. Ενώ είχα κλείσει ραντεβού και με είχαν διαβεβαιώσει για αμάξι αντικαταστασης, μετά από 3 ώρες αναμονή μου είπαν ότι τα τους τελείωσαν. Έπρεπε να γυρίσω με ταξί από Ασπρόπυργο. Η δικαιολογία τους ότι βάση συμβολαίου πρέπει να περιμένω εωσ 24ωρες για να παω νσ παραλάβω ένα. Εν τω μεταξύ ήταν παρασκευή κ με άφησαν χωρίς αμάξι έως Δευτέρα μεσημερι και ακομα περιμενω. Ενώ δήλωσα για την αντικατάσταση στις 4 το μεσημέρι μου λένε ναι αλλά στο σύστημα περαστικά στις 5... το αμάξι ίσως να το παραλάβετε και στις 7 το απόγευμα. Δηλαδή θέλουν να μου δώσουν εταιρικό αυτοκίνητο αντικατάστασης εκτός νορμάλ ωραρίου εργασίας... για να κερδίσουν άλλη μια μέρα!
