Great interest rates, but that's it!
Hopeless banking system, I encounter problems all the time, from absolutely ridiculous and insecure SMS only verification - which doesn't work overseas or in black spots (numerous in backward Australia).
App doesn't generate security codes!
Tried to set up a recurring payment - not possible because first payment day is ahead of today.
Asked their in app chat and they just couldn't understand the problem. Cannot think beyond their narrow box I suppose.
Payments are very difficult to make.
App shows huge interest rate details covering the screen and you have to scroll down mile to find actual transactions.
They are very amateur.

I paid $320 annual fee to join Qantas World credit card and 10 months later they just change the terms of the card so i don't even get 12 months of what i paid for. The new terms offer about 1/3 of the points and I'm meant to just accept that? Isn't that illegal to sell something and not provide what was sold?

I had my property in Melbourne CBD secured for a small loan from BankWest (acquired by Commonwealth bank now) in 2002. Paid off in 2006, and got property title, but there is a mix up with the discharge from BankWest. Recently, I have contacted them many times to fix it via calls, emails, I also filled in another discharge form; but there's still a delay with unknown reason, unknown time frame. I do not think it is a good idea to financially deal with a disorganised bank.

Just trying to get a credit card and dealing with Sandrine. Poorest customer service I have ever experienced. Have a large amount invested with them and trying to provide requested info via their website and it won’t accept. Customer experience is appalling

What went wrong !!
Multiple accounts fraudulently opened in my name for the purpose of financial gain .

What they did to investigate ???
Nothing, it seems the criminals have more rights than the victims

What you should do ,,
If you're really going to take the risk with dumping your money at Bank West
Make sure to put them through the stress test first, ask questions, anything you can think of,
And make the bank sign your fine print and agreement , what plans in place when disaster takes place .

I called for help for an easy setup which app's functionality is severely lacking. But I can feel the phone service lady disregarding and neglecting as like the entire bank is about to collapse. I am so worried for my loan and planning to transfer.

You'll never get customer service. Constantly understaffed and not helpful. Been customer for ten years and pulling all my money out and remortgaging

I've noticed that Bankwest gets uglier amd uglier. I've noticed that Bankwest just keeps getting worse. They've taken away many of the features and benefits that made them competitive, and the overall banking experience has gone downhill. Instead of improving their services and giving customers more reasons to stay, they've removed things that added value. It's disappointing to see a bank become less competitive over time.

Tried opening an account and after multiple attempts to verify my account at Australia Post still couldn’t get this done. Provided an Aussie passport and license yet they still need more. This bank is pathetic, go elsewhere.

We bought a $595 flight with a well-known international Asian airline, who promptly cancelled it. Not ideal, but not exactly unexpected in this travel climate, and not the first time this particular airline has cancelled on us. To their credit, they did the right thing and offered us a choice — a new flight the next day (which didn't suit our plans), or a full refund. We took the refund. They quoted 30 days to process it, which already wasn't great, since we now needed to book a replacement flight $400 more expensive than the original.

Fast forward 37 days. No refund, no response from the airline's customer service, and nothing on the horizon. So I contacted Bankwest, who advised me to lodge a transaction dispute, since I'd paid for a service I never received.

It took them two days to review the situation and push through a chargeback, crediting the full $595 back into my account. From a month of uncertainty and frustration to sorted, just like that.

Naturally, if the airline eventually does refund us, Bankwest can claw their money back — and I'll send it without hesitation, given they did right by me when it counted.

Dont bother...transfer money 48 hours its still hasnt been Aappearedvin the new account, apparently they do it in "batches" WTF IS IT 1970?
Other banks instant...BW not so much.

Very disappointed with Bankwest’s customer service.

I have been a Bankwest customer for the past 6–7 years. I contacted the bank to discuss refinancing because I had received a significantly better home loan offer from another bank. I wanted to give Bankwest the opportunity to review my loan and see if they could offer a more competitive rate so I could stay as a customer.

Unfortunately, the customer service representative showed no interest in helping. Instead of discussing my options or referring me to the retention team, she simply said that if I wasn’t happy with the interest rate, I was welcome to move to another bank.

After 6–7 years as a loyal customer, I expected a much more professional and customer-focused response. There was no attempt to retain my business or even discuss the competing offer. It felt like my loyalty meant nothing.

Based on this experience, I cannot recommend Bankwest if you expect customer service that values long-term customers.

Worst bank I have ever come across. Paid the balance of a credit card and closed the account, along with the transaction account. Then I started getting messages saying that I owed for interest. Problem was that I could no longer access the accounts, so I could not pay the payment.

Tried to get it resolved via their messaging, but there was no response. When I finally gave up and called the bank, I was told that I could pay via pay but additional interest would be accrued while the payment was processing. I was also advised that the issue would affect my credit rating.

It should not be this hard to close a credit card account!

Stay away from bankwest!

They make it very easy to join and sign up for a new account however when you need simple things done like changing address or phone number they expect you to go into Australia Post with a printed out document and your passport to verify yourself and then return home with the printed document completed and call them back to continue to use your account??

Bankwest obviously don't care about their customers because they think their customers have an hour at their disposal to do that task which would take at least an hour or more!

I have accounts with St George, ANZ and NAB and have found that they are much more user friendly and customer friendly with no monthly fees.

Bankwest is owned by Commonwealth who are also not customer-friendly so stay away from both!!

I told the Bankwest agent what you're expecting me to do is something that you would expect from the last century like the 1980s ... we are now in the 2020s

I have updated my phone number with organizations like Medicare and the ATO which were not an issue as were the other Banks mentioned above..

Bankwest needs to get with the times!!

With out doubt the most in incompetent bank in Australia, recently opened an account, impossible to get anything to work, luckily have not deposited any $ and after reading all the horrendous reviews, will never use. Lodged a complaint re my experience and request to close account, they made one call and because I did not answer the case manager closed the complaint. Arrogance is hard to believe for a large bank

They are uncooperative hard to understand and difficult to deal with

Be very wary of banks that require a selfie. You cannot get a new face issued when they get hacked. And they will...eventually. And when that happens they will only say "sorry, we did our best to keep your personal details safe". Yeah right.
They only tell you that a selfie is required at the end of the application, after you have already given them all your personal details and ID. Without a selfie you cannot finalise the application.

We are long-time (many years) customers of Bankwest, but do not feel valued, as we have to continually ask for a better rate for a term deposit. The better rate is eventually reluctantly given! (only to match the Commonwealth Banks rate who I think owns them). Less than professional service with spelling mistakes on their forms and emails sent to incorrect people. (well, they do state don't trust the emailing system). Even before the branches closed there was evidence of lack of concern/training/ability and professionalism among the staff. Now some things can't even be done online, one has to have the mobile app on their phone! This is too much for older people and many have taken their business elsewhere, such as to Police and Nurses Bank who have physical branches. Loss of so many customers and so many bad reviews doesn't seem to faze them, as when one states they will take business elsewhere, it is met with "that is your prerogative". Avoid this bank. The majority of service quality has gone from bad to worse.
