I phoned and the young lady was so helpful and assured me that the scooter will be delivered as soon as I paid as it was in stock ,and that was my reason for phoning as my husband needs it asap.

Update 3 Sept 2024 to my earlier review of Betty & Bertie.

Re the earlier issue, Betty& Bertie finally replied to an email, claiming the previous emails had gone in to junk. I am sceptical, but once a customer service person (Lauren) became involved, things were quickly resolved. Lauren arranged for the collection and repair of the scooter (the technician was able to replicate the error) and the scooter was returned to me promptly (a day before we went on holiday), ensuring I had use of it on my holiday. All in all I will give benefit of the doubt. Lauren was certainly efficient once she became involved.

Since then I have had 4 weeks of problem free journeys. That is, until yesterday (2 Sept 2024).

I had a day out at Alton Towers with my wife, son and a few of his friends. Mid way through the afternoon I was sat on the scooter waiting for my wife to bring over an ice-cream, when the scooter suddenly shot off under its own steam. I nearly fell off, such was my surprise, and the scooter almost hit a mother and her (very) small child - what a disaster that could have been!

Thereafter the scooter would continue trying to zoom off on its own accord, with no input (i.e. turning of the throttle from me) or, occasionally, do the same as before and not respond at all to the throttle being turned.

I have just switched it on again today in my garage. Within two or three seconds the scooter twitched a little and then moved forwards, again with no input from me - I was sat back recording it on my phone! Switched it off and then switched it back on and the same thing happened, again recorded.

I have reported the issue to Betty & Bertie by email and also contacted them by phone, speaking again to Lauren. The initial response from Lauren has been positive, but she has had to refer it to a director. Hopefully the end result will also be to my satisfaction. If that is the case I shall report it here.

Unfortunately, even if all resolved to my satisfaction, it does not hide the simple fact that in my experience the scooter is not only not fit for purpose, it is potentially very dangerous!

I could have badly hurt the small child in the incident above, which would have been terrible. But I also think, what if I hadn't gone to Alton Towers yesterday? It was going to happen sometime, so if we hadn't gone to Alton Towers my wife and I would have taken our usual evening walk with the dogs. Maybe I would have been sitting on the scooter at a curb's edge, waiting for traffic to pass before I crossed the road. What if the scooter had chosen that moment to shoot forward in front of a car, lorry, tractor (we live in the countryside)....

The scooter is clearly unreliable, but it is also potentially very dangerous. I strongly recommend against buying it.

The trial period with free returns was a game-changer for me. I tried a Lupin that couldn't cope with hills and bought a Ren. I have owned it since May last year. Its greatest asset is its stability; its track is wider than my class 2 scooter and I can push myself up on it when I get off. I can fold it with one hand, which is essential as I must always use a crutch. Its speed is awesome! The bag on the back is essential for me and a really useful accessory. Getting used to bike braking takes time, but the brakes are excellent. The reason for the 4 stars is the Ren's reluctance to restart on a slope; when the brakes are applied the power is cut so putting out a foot to hold you for an instant is essential but hard for me to do. Because of its wide track, I can reverse across the slope and then turn up the slope on full power. (It needs a handbrake). The large wheels allow it to go virtually anywhere. It has been a good buy for me.

I managed to find the website easy enough, this is the second Bertie and Bertie scooter “, I loved my old one I think the motor died on me , I took it every where and went on all sorts of terrain from gravel the beach grass and even gone through muddy parks and in all sorts of weather as I take the dog for a walk

Very pleased with scooter so far only had it one day. It seems very stable and went up a steep hill near our house easily which is why we choose the Ren Folds up easily and seems as though it will be easy to use on buses and trains The service was amazing ordering the scooter was easy as able to speak to a helpful and knowledgeable person on the phone excellent delivery as well

I first bought a Lupin mobility scooter from Betty & Bertie. While the Lupin was great to go to the shops on a pavement and up slight inclines I needed something more. Looking on their website I see that the Ren has all off the great qualities of the Lupin plus more power meaning it will cope with steeper inclines which is what I needed. After agreeing by e mail I exchanged directly at their offices. I met all of the staff who were amazing. they're friendly, understanding, knowledgeable and very helpful with regards to customer requirements. Having now used the Ren it suits all of my needs and does what it says on the website. All in all a fantastic experience dealing with Betty & Bertie.

Received the Ren scooter on 17/07/24 as promised by Fedex and Betty & Birtie. Looked a Brilliant piece of engineering. Tried The scooter round the house to get used to the controls for quite a long time and thought it was great. At the weekend I decided to take it to the local park which is a vast area with miles of Tarmac paths, I found the seating most uncomfortable and the hinges on the backrest stick in your lower back being very painful. At the end of the trip I could hardly walk I was in so much pain. Such a shame as I was so looking forward to keeping it and I will have to return it to Betty & Bertie. Such a great machine spoiled by uncomfortable seating.

Very poor they cancel me twice for what I didn't do and I am disable need front Basket on my mobility scooter and they ask too much question what it is for and check make sure if u are really disable because of vat
exempt! I will never shop there again best any of you don't order from them. They also other phone you as well I have block them.
