Thank you Mark
Visited as a last minute trip, went for the 4pm tour - there were only 6 of us on this tour which was great.
What a great way to start a tour - make yourself a drink - there was a choice of 3 gins and several ‘additive’s’ And a mock tail- this was enjoyed while watching a very informative short film.
Mark was our guide- he was informative, friendly, knowledgeable and great sense of humour. We learnt a lot of science without realising it.
Highly recommend this tour
best gin ever
best gin ever. especially garnished with orange.
New Recipe
Have always enjoyed the Canned Bombay Sapphire gin and tonic mixes, very good flavour combination. Sadly the recipe has changed and the flavour is disgusting, it tastes of soapy water, quite undrinkable, so do not waste your money. Contacted Bombay Sapphire to let them know, however no contact back obviously they have no interest in their customers comments.
Laverstock Distillery Tour
I visited the Bombay Distillery with my husband as a 50th birthday treat. We thoroughly enjoyed the tour, especially the cocktail mixology, where you make 3 cocktails. We had been previously 9 years ago and found the tour much improved. It was a great experience and everyone whom I spoke was cheerful, helpful and knowledgeable. The only things I would change would be that the cocktail class had seats whilst your mixing your drinks, after the tour it’s a long time to stand, and the food in the bar, advertised as sourdough sandwiches with a price to match, all they were was white sliced cheap bread with bagged salad thrown on the plate, not good total let down…..the venue needs better than this
Distillery tour, well mostly
We had a visit to the distillery having done several brewery tours before. The tour lasts for 1.5hrs. Our Guide a young lady was very knowledgeable and although it was all very interesting, we felt a little disappointed that we never got to go inside the main still house (India House), after all that’s the key part of the process, isn’t it? We were told the still house was too hot due to the weather so only got to look through a window and you couldn’t see that much. As you move on through the tour there are 2 smaller stills that you can see but again on the other side of a glass window, but at least you can see those properly. If you’re down that way, it’s worth a look but I wouldn’t travel more than an hour just for the tour unless you get to see the whole process.
Wasn't able to enter the still house
Me and my partner done a 400 mile round trip to visit this distillery for a tour and honestly I wouldn't recommend. The experience we bought advertised that we would get to go in the still house and see how the gin was made. Apparently the still house was to hot today 35 degrees so we could only look at the stills through a glass window and not even be able to see half the process. Despite the thermometer on the window clearly stating that the still house was 29 degrees c (an average car is hotter than this on a summer's day). Apart from not being able to do the main part of the experience the rest of it was okay.. Bar was expensive and staff had to ask each other how to make a Negroni. The Negroni which cost £10 and was not in the slightest a negroni. Sweet and floral rather than bitter and Herby. The only good part of the experience was that the tour guide was knowledgeable about the building and the history of the gin brand. Overall, a distillery which sells a tour which advertises that customers can walk around the still house and have a guided tour of how the gin is made. Shouldn't expect customers to be happy if they are told that they can only look through a glass window at the stills. We couldn't even see the condensers as the still house was a two floor building.
Excellent Experience.
I visited the Bombay Distillery with my husband and thoroughly enjoyed myself, especially the cocktail mixology. It was a great experience and everyone whom I spoke was cheerful, helpful and knowledgeable.
I'd be happy to return and would recommend it to anyone.
A perfect gin
A perfect gin. My favorite for now. A simple combination between this gin, tonic, freshly squeezed orange juice, ice and 1 or 2 slices of orange is... awesome.
Cheap and cheerful gin
Cheap and cheerful gin. They also do a great tour of their facilities
