Careem Pay Is Holding My Money Hostage – Wrong UTR, No Accountability, Same Copy-Paste Replies Everywhere
I am beyond frustrated with Careem Pay and their shocking mishandling of my international transfer.
On 27 November 2025, I transferred AED 4,600 to my NRE account in India. Today, the funds are STILL missing. No update, no resolution — nothing.
Every time I contact Careem support, they simply close my complaint without solving anything. They keep sending me a UTR number that is NOT the same as the UTR shown in their own app. How can a financial service provider give two different UTR numbers for the same transaction? Because of this mismatch, my Indian bank cannot trace the money.
This is not just incompetence — it is irresponsible and unacceptable behavior for a company dealing with people’s money.
And before Careem responds with their standard line: “Please contact us on Twitter/X or LinkedIn so we can assist you” — let me make this very clear:
I have already posted this issue on X, Reddit, and LinkedIn, and even there, Careem only gives the same generic, copy-paste replies as their customer care team. No real investigation, no correct UTR, no action. Just scripted responses repeated across platforms.
As of today, they still cannot provide the correct UTR number, which means nobody knows where my AED 4,600 even is.
