I recently attended a Performance Driving Day (Porsche) with CAT Driver Training at UTAC, Millbrook in Bedfordshire.

It was an absolutely exhilarating and informative experience! From start to finish, the day was packed with invaluable learning opportunities and more of an understanding regarding the engineering of the 911 (which in turn helps us keep safe whether on track or road). The instructors Steve and Colin are top-notch—knowledgeable, patient, and passionate about driving. They broke down complex techniques like cornering, braking, and throttle control in a way that was easy to grasp, no matter your skill level.

The one-on-one feedback was invaluable, helping me understand the limits of my car. The different tracks were fantastic, offering a perfect mix of challenging turns and straights to push the cars (and Ourselves!). Whether you’re a car enthusiast or just looking to sharpen your skills, there is something for everyone. The organisation was seamless, with a great balance of track time, classroom sessions, and breaks. The staff, not forgetting Jo and Lynne made safety a priority while keeping the day fun and engaging.

CAT Driver Training is a must for all level of drivers. I’m already thinking about my next session! Five stars!

A fantastic experience to not only drive at Millbrook proving ground but also be taught by the best and learn some great new driving techniques. Steve and Colin are incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about getting the best out of you, and really take time to explain the mechanics of what is happening. They also allow you to try things at your own pace, only encouraging you to get more from your car without pushing you to do so.
I would thoroughly recommend this course to anyone, irrespective of how much experience you have, as I'm sure that you'll benefit greatly, as I have.

Great day of driving and tuition with Colin on the CAT performance driver group day.
Listened to what I wanted to focus on and really tailored the driving experience to me . The course made me more confident on the track and road. Left me capable balancing the car on the limit and improving my sight ahead to the vanishing point and anticipation.

So, I’ve been driving 30 years and a few years ago I bought a performance car but realised I am never driving it to potential or really understanding what it can/can’t do….. time to introduce Colin at CAT Driver training. Set in Millbrook proving ground and using all the facilities expected of a top class testing venue -the training focusses on you and what “you” want to get out of the day (or ‘me’ in this case). The techniques I learnt way surpassed my expectations eg advanced braking and high speed driving techniques. Within a few hours I was competently and confidently driving at speeds of 130mph and able to brake in all manner of different ways…. Not sure how
Colin does this but patience and his passion for what he does show through! (Probably helped by his extremely thorough (engineer by trade) knowledge of the car)….. I left with skills that I can continue to use and embed! Thanks for a great day.

Brilliant tuition from the best in the business. Had a fantastic day learning new driving concepts in the best environment possible. This is my second experience with CATDT and can’t wait to return to do more. If you love driving and the technical aspects of driving dynamics then this is the place to learn what driving is all about.

My son and I thoroughly enjoyed our day in the safe hands of expert instructor, Colin. We were carefully guided through each stage of the training to ensure that we gained best value. Safety was of course paramount, and at no point did we feel exposed to any level of risk to ourselves or the vehicle. We can't wait to come back next year for the next level!

Fantastic day learning all things grip and traction with Colin. got to understand the underlying causes on car driving dynamics, then to experience them and finally to manipulate them and try and engrain some muscle memory. highly recommend for anyone who is starting and even relatively experienced in track driving

I spent a day with the wonderful folks at CAT Driver Training, and I had a fantastic time! All the staff were very professional, yet really approachable and kind. Our instructors; Steve and Colin, were highly experienced and passionate, and everyone on the course thoroughly enjoyed the day. I was afforded the time to really develop my skills and came away with both knowledge, and improved confidence. I can highly recommend CAT Driver Training to drivers of all abilities.

Absolutely amazing day is how I would describe my experience.
If I'm told to do something then I want to know why I'm doing it, and Steve my instructor, explained what the car is doing or not doing at each literal turn! It was like a light bulb had been turned on by the end of the day on how to drive. I can't believe how much confidence I had gained and how relaxed I became even though I was driving much faster with more control.
This course really is a game changer and if you are are reading this review then you are already interested so book it now!!

I had an incredible day at CAT, and I can’t thank my instructor, Steve, enough. He has a real gift for breaking down the technical side of driving at speed in a way that’s easy to understand and immediately useful. From mastering racing lines to improving braking technique, Steve’s guidance was clear, precise, and confidence-inspiring. I left the day feeling more capable and connected to the car than ever before. Highly recommend!

Well what can I say, I did the Road Level 4 Skid Control & Over Grip Limit Recovery Course, a great day, I learnt a great deal, I specifically enjoyed the way what we did was tailored to my experience and what I wanted to learn more about, it was challenging, I was tired by the end of the day but it was incredible, I now feel confident and safe driving my super car, I enjoyed being pushed (as I requested). I will be going back for more training to improve my driving skills, 12/10 would go back, would recommend.

Thoroughly enjoyed Track level 3 over grip limit. Lots of useful learning controlling under/over steer that could be a saviour on track. Also Great fun learning to drift the caterham. Note this is a pretty physical course so you are going to be tired by the end of the day 😊

What a fantastic day. A brilliant team of people. The overall content and delivery was second to none, I would recommend this for anyone that owns a performance car and wants to learn how to drive it safely and properly

What a day! The whole CAT team were incredibly welcoming from the start and communication was brilliant. Colin and Steve have a huge amount of knowledge and share it in a very straightforward manner that's easy to understand. Each course tested my skills in a different way, could not recommend more to build your track and road driving abilities.

Absolutely superb. The instructors are simply brilliant. So much knowledge, and they have perfected the method of teaching it. The whole organisation, the friendly staff, the communication, the facilities and the track time, all far exceeded my expectations! I could not fault a single thing. I leant so much and had loads of track time to put what I learnt into practice. If you’re considering booking a driver training course, book this one! It’s fantastic.

Excellent tuition and highly informative. I know my car so much better now and I am much more confident about exploiting its performance safely.

The day was really fun and Colin is a great tutor and the UTAC facilities are amazing!

Highly recommended if you want to get to know your car better or polish your driving skills.

Very welcoming personal approach. Great depth of knowledge and experience to call on. All levels of ability were catered for. I would be very surprised if any attendee came away not learning a lot. It gave me plenty to think about and use on the road on the way home.
