Great service and great product . The gentleman who was the senior demonstrator , Mark . One of the first things he said when he came into our lounge, was ‘I can see the chair you are sitting in is far too deep for your height. ‘ He went on to explain how the chairs are all custom made and built in the uk 🇬🇧, so that the fit is perfect and comfortable. Well as I have arthritis throughout my body , especially my spine ,neck and hips , it is difficult to find a truly comfortable chair .
So I am delighted to say my chair is perfect, so comfortable, I have wasted a lot of money before buying this chair , on other ones that after a few months, made my back and neck very uncomfortable and in pain. So I can truly recommend this company .

Henry, a pleasant young man went out of his way to ensure that all my questions were answered and that my purchase went well. All I have to do now is wait for my new chair to be delivered. We had a visit today from Jack and Adam, I cant praise enough just how professional, Cheerful and helpful they were. Nothing was to much trouble. They took the time to talk through any issues and concerns we had about the different products they sell. We settled on a chair and were just over the moon with the Price, Quality and look. Can not recommend enough.

Excellent service from first home visit & demonstration. The products are definitely hi end quality & not the usual poor quality examples on the market for £500.
If you want to buy cheap & nasty Charter House are not for you. Each chair is tailor made & built to EXACT dimensions. Hi Quality German built motors that are virtually silent. Fabric choices are extensive. Overall pleased with my quote & proceeded to order.

I took delivery of a Durham recliner chair a few weeks ago and I can honestly say it has changed my life. I moved into a smallish but comfortable cottage some years ago and brought some of my old furniture with me. This was a mistake as the furniture was too big for the space available to allow me to live comfortably. When I decided to replace the old settee all charity shops and anyone else were asking significant money to take it away. I arranged a visit by their demonstrator who brought a chair to the cottage and discussed every aspect of its functions but also assured me that my old furniture would be taken away. The chair which I ordered was made to my measurements and specifications and delivered within 4 weeks. Everything from placing the order to having the chair installed went like clockwork. I was given information at every stage and everything happened as I was told it would. The chair fulfills everything that was promised. I now have a comfortable and adjustable seat and more room to live in. This was not the cheapest chair on the market but I was always told the you get what you pay for and this certainly demonstrates that. If you want something good for nothing it will be ‘good-for-nothing’.

My Brother in law Neil Fishpool has had his adjustable bed for 3 weeks now . When he was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis a few years ago he was struggling with broken sleep patterns and lack of sleep. He was given an NHS hospital bed but he found this very uncomfortable. His new bed has turned his life around and is getting a full uninterrupted sleep and finds his bed extremely comfortable and having the height he wanted it’s easier to get in and out of bed. The mattress is very comfortable . He has not looked back since buying it. The company are very friendly and easy to deal with , they did what they said they would do. The demonstrator was very knowledgeable about the product.

An appointment was made and was kept to perfect timing. Henry Graham, Company Representative went through the pros and cons of the best suited chair for my height and size and helped me to choose the best option for me without any hard sell/pressure. This review is quite long but please read through till the end to get a feel for our rip off experience.
Our 32 year old son sadly suffers from severe arthritis so not only needs an adjustable chair but has very specific requirements regarding comfort & adjustments. He had been using an "off the shelf" model for over 7 years. Due to his condition he would have to sit in the chair for the bulk of every single day, so was quite worn & overdue for a replacement. Despite the age of this chair, he found that it was still comfortable & provided more than adequate support, the only issue being some creaking & clunking noises while using it.
I contacted Charterhouse Mobility & an appointment was made for a sales person to visit on 21/9/23. He seemed friendly & mannerly, introducing himself verbally but not even leaving his business card for any potential future direct contact! Company policy? He proceeded to ask what seemed like all the necessary questions about our sons' medical condition & requirements while taking notes accordingly.
For the demo he had brought with him a small size chair along with various back supports. Ours would be a large size & were assured that all the necessary support (ones that our son specifically elaborated on) would be present on the custom made chair since they would make it specially for us, using his notes for guidance.
Our old chair was a 4 motor Riser Recliner but Charterhouse deem those unnecessary, instead claiming that when a chair is made to their very high standards, their 2 motor does the job much better. According to them, the 4 motor brands are just cheap chairs that are made to poor standards & that is why the 4 motors are needed (to compensate for the poor design etc).
As to the price, £3860 including a 30% discount & £375 for the old chair! Our son was desperate (afraid the the old one could stop working anytime due to the condition) for a new chair & after a very short period of consideration, we gave in & paid a 50% deposit. Delivery time of around 6 weeks was quoted.
Chair arrived on a Saturday. On closer inspection it seemed to be a bog standard chair other than being larger! After using it through the weekend, our son just could not get comfortable & found it lacking massively in the all the areas that required support & were very specifically stressed to & promised to us (neck, lumbar, lower back & hip).
I contacted them on Monday & were promptly told by the receptionist that as it was a new chair, it required some time to get used to. After giving it another week, it got no better & our son was in physical & mental agony so I called them again. This time she claimed that we were probably not using the controls properly & proceeded to explain how to make adjustments. I reminded her that our son had already been using a chair for more than 7 years & was more than familiar with the controls but that didn't seem to make any difference to the receptionist. For the next 2 weeks I called them every 3 days or so, but she had the same lame excuses & was not able to speak to any managers even after requesting call backs. I had even asked to speak to the sales person but was never able to.
During the 3rd week I called them everyday & was finally able to speak to a manager.
An engineer visit was arranged. He came over & was shown exactly what the issues were. He promised to update the managers.
This visit made absolutely no difference to them, claiming instead that they had supplied the correct colour, material & size that we had requested but no acknowledgement of our complaints!
My husband made one final attempt at getting the manager to accept that their chair was not what they had promised to provide & that it did not tick a single box for our son as far as comfort & adjustment was concerned.
He would not budge from his decision, being quite firm but polite & business-like through out.
A refund was out of the question as it was a "custom made" chair manufactured specially for us.
He claimed that they were not in the business of selling second-hand chairs & the best he could offer as a gesture of goodwill was to take the chair away & pay us a puny £500 which was, to be honest, insulting to us.
We've been ripped off by Charter House Mobility for supplying a product that is just not fit for purpose.
We had no choice but to spend more on another off-the-shelf 4 motor riser recliner very similar to the old one that our son had used previously although that cost "only" £1900. That makes it less then half the price of the Charter House chair & ticks all the relevant boxes for comfort & adjustment.
In hindsight I wish we had opted not to fall for the rip off from Charter House Mobility & made a little more effort to look at other options.
If you are in the market for a riser recliner, do not fall for the sweet talk & pressure from Charter House & their sales persons. Look elsewhere!

Jack arrived on time to give a demonstration of a rise and recline mobility chair. The demonstration was given clearly and the chair functions were explained well. I was given the opportunity of sitting in the chair for a good while. This enabled me to use all the functions from lying back, standing, heating and the massager. All were very easy to understand. It was hard to give up.
We then chose the fabric and with Jack's help we managed to find a colour that matched our room.
Thank you Jack for answering all our questions and showing us our options. We look forward to receiving my new chair next year when our lounge is finished.

The recliner was so great ordered another one. The service Jack provided was excellent. He was patient with 3 very different customers who no matter what they asked he listened and never seemed phased. Nothing was too much for him. He even moved the chairs around until they were angled to our specifications (no mean feat as we kept changing our minds!). My chair which had the heat and massage is amazing. Once I prized myself away from it, I swear I got up the stairs like a superhero, my legs usually heavy and slow got to the top with a spring, In all honesty I felt as if I could sprint (ok slight exaggeration) but definitely the recliner in that small amount of time had improved something!
