Chris went at our pace and has given us the confidence to go it alone. Very knowledgeable about the area and pointed areas of interest to us. He also gave me pointers on how I could prevent blisters. All in all it was a very enjoyable walk.

Chris was excellent, took the time to explain in detail how to navigate using the map and compass.
As a complete beginner, it was delivered at a pace to meet my needs, Chris took the time to answer all questions, great level of knowledge and skill.
Would highly recommend to family and friends.

Our 4 kids aged 10-13 attended the CJB Training and Adventure session with a mixed level of ability and confidence but Chris led a great session - they all loved it and learned a lot. Highly recommend.

Booking system was quick and simple, price of course very reasonable and the trainer was very experienced, knowledgeable and entertaining.
Booked the course for my wife (a novice navigator) and myself (experienced but rusty) and we both gained a lot from it. We thoroughly enjoyed the course and came away with a lot of knowledge and the confidence to put it into practice.

Nigel was warm, enthusiastic and terrible at telling jokes 😃

Course was really, learnt alot of the basics. Need to Hutchison into practice now. Chris also confirmed other more advanced courses so is definitely keen to share and teach others.

Showed fmgreat patience and the group was small so everyone could contribute.

I would have given 4.5/5 reason I never gave a 5/5, the communication post booking and pre course was not great. I had to chase for details on the Friday before the course on the Sunday so a little last minute.

Although he did have a reason, he got married the weekend before so exceptional circumstances.

I really enjoyed this course. Chris is knowledgeable and patient. He ensured we understood lots of different types of maps too. I’d highly recommend this course.

Content & pace of day adapted well to the group. As beginners conscious not to overwhelm with information but responsive to all queries.
Theoretical discussion prior to practical experience was very helpful in establishing fundamentals & demonstration of tools extremely competent & interesting. Enabled us to assemble tool box relevant to us.
Discussion of clothing & equipment relevant to range of situations helpful. You don’t know what you don’t know!
Instructor was engaging & had good interpersonal skills, spoke clearly & precisely which put group at ease & the whole experience great fun. Fabulous location & weather too.

I was lucky enough to be the only person booked onto my map reading course with Chris.
It was useful as he was able to tailor the course to my needs and I came away with exactly what I wanted from the course.
Chris is very knowledgeable and shared the information in a clear manner, he is happy to answer questions and has lots of interesting things to share.
I would definitely recommend booking this course if you want to learn to map read and I will be looking into other activities chris provides in the future

Excellent day, lots to learn with great routes

Chris has good knowledge and experience and was able to get me onto speed with the skills needed to use a compass and navigate with a map in half a day. Seas io. Was a good mix of practicals and some time going though is maps and the legend. I would recommend. Came away feeling confident to navigate when out on a hike using a map and compass.

The course content was focused on map reading and compass work. Chris communication was excellent. Course profile had all types of terrain. Overall a great day out. Highly recommend

I attended the Beginner Navigation course. It was a wet and windy day but I had a canny time. I now have more confidence getting out with the map. Chris was friendly and knowledgeable. Highly recommended.
