The Coop Bank customer service man was brilliant and completely solved my problem
I’ve been banking with the Co-operative Bank for most of my adult life – nearly 60 years now – and throughout that time I’ve found them consistently trustworthy and reliable.
They don’t have many physical branches these days, so I usually use the Post Office for everyday transactions and withdrawing cash, which works well for me.
This weekend I had a problem when my card and Apple Pay wouldn’t work while trying to pay for a car park. A friend tried entering my card details into her phone to see if that would help, but shortly afterwards I received a text from the bank saying they had blocked my card due to suspected fraudulent activity. They included a number to call, which I did straight away.
The phone was answered very promptly by a real person. I explained what had happened, and the woman I spoke to resolved everything quickly, efficiently, and with great courtesy. My card was unblocked within minutes.
What continues to stand out for me with the Co-operative Bank is the quality of their customer service. It’s reassuring to be able to speak to a knowledgeable human being without difficulty, especially when something goes wrong.
After so many years, I still feel confident and well looked after as a customer.

My wife and I were helped to set up ISAs by Luke at the Colchester branch, and the process couldn't have been quicker or more simple. A few minutes in his office and the process was done, we even had coffee provided while they were set up. Very pleased.

The customer service has been excellent. The only downside is that their branches have very limited opening hours so it can be difficult to do any banking in person.

We needed to visit the branch to bank a cheque. The staff were so helpful and discussed ways to enhance the use of our accounts. They made some changes to the set up that will make life easier in the future.

My credit card was reissued. I tried to make a payment to the new number but the system couldn't verify that account even though it's the same bank!
I logged that issue (still unresolved) and made a payment using previous details. This was rejected but no warning raised so I inadvertently incurred a penalty. When I complained they said it was my fault, not theirs. Their system has serious flaws.

Most digusting service from Coop.
Query NOT quickly satisfactorily resolved.
This was a query about blocking a large payment.
First I received a text, asking if I want to pay it, I answered NO.
Then an advisor rung me , asking if I want to pay, I answered NO.
Guess what? this payment went through! Completely inadequate useless service from Coop.
I had to phone Coop, and put this payment as fraud.

She was professional, patient, and genuinely attentive throughout my interaction, taking the time to clearly explain everything and ensure my concerns were fully resolved. Her approach made the entire experience smooth and reassuring.
In my view, this is the standard of service that should be consistently delivered to all customers. Linda is a credit to the organisation, and her support made a real difference.
