Did they really run my DNA?
First of all my results were totally wrong. I've had my DNA tested twice before. With this kit, I was told my estimated time was 6 to 8 weeks for results. I mailed in my kit and received the email that they had received it and would start working on it. One week later my results were in. One week? They either have no business and no kits too process, they did not test my DNA or have a secret way of processing DNA that the FBI and other agencies don't know about that speeds up the process. I really feel like I was scammed. The reports you get for the original amount you pay are very limited and very generic. Then you have to pay more to get a membership and buy credits to get the other important or interesting reports. Very bad business practice. Not upfront about what reports you actually get without paying more and the fact my results and the time it took to get them was very suspicious. Find a different place to buy a kit and test your DNA.

To address your main concern first, yes, samples with your DNA was absolutely processed and tested. Once your sample is received in the lab, the actual processing time can vary depending on lab capacity, batching of samples, and the progress when your kit arrives. It will also depend on how complex your DNA samples are, which can result in faster-than-expected turnaround times than the 6-8 week timeframe being given. This does not mean the sample was not tested.
As for your concern about the reports and pricing structure, we understand your frustration. The initial report includes core ancestry insights, while additional reports (such as more detailed traits and health-related insights) are optional enhancements that some customers choose to unlock.
We’re sorry to hear that your experience did not meet your expectations. We do take feedback seriously and are always working to improve clarity around what is included upfront versus optional add-ons.

This company charges approximately $100 for DNA reports that are below average. In my case, there was nothing particularly noteworthy about my report. Instead, CRI attempted to sell me additional products that should have been included in my initial request. I simply wanted to see if I had any other relatives.

Very disappointing - Not worth the money!
Overall, very, very disappointing. Awaiting a refund, at least for two of our four unused kits. First, registering the kits online doesn't work so you have to call in. Then, the swab comes off the stick very easily and if you touch it or drop it, it ruins the test so have to start over. We did them by twos as the first two fell off. The other two family members didn't even bother doing them. Ancestry wise, they were ok (some surprises) although multiple pages and clicks - no one place to see, print, nor download it all. I chose this company to get details on the nutrition and health side and boy was it misleading... the additional reports I paid for were not very accurate (literally got my natural hair color wrong) and it just told me how likely it was or was not... it does not give what your actual DNA results they used, just mentions the markers sometimes. The website is very cumbersome to use. The dashboard has no real value. It is advertisements and trying to get you to buy more. The side bar lists every category and trait separately, so each one is a separate click, scroll, report load, scroll through the report, and a lot of the time it takes you back to the top of the page so you're repeating it over and over again. And sometimes, it refreshes and goes to a different person all together if you have multiple kits/people. There is nowhere on the site to get a full report of everything you were tested for. I thought maybe I missed it somewhere so inquired and was told there isn't one, nor can you obtain your own raw genomes for 'privacy reasons'... it's my DNA... why would you have to keep it private FROM ME! My doctor wants it, which was the reason I did this to begin with. Also, once you purchase a kit, the emails to try to get you to buy more services is relentless, even before you send your test back in. Multiple emails a day to get you to buy more, purchase a ring, a membership, more reports, etc.... absolutely horrible for what I paid!
Edited to add - The only good thing was the people I interacted with were nice but could not resolve my concerns and questions once I got the results or asked to speak to a supervisor.

Also, new reports are being launched every week, so the current format allows the customers to easily identify which are the new reports.
That said, we truly hear your concerns about the number of clicks, page resets, and switching between profiles, as well as the overall usability of the dashboard. Relative finder results
I didn’t like the results of my relative finder. I don’t recognize anyone on the list of extended family. I thought I would find connections with closer relatives. Also, I sent messages to all of my 6th degree cousins and I haven’t received a reply. It makes me wonder if they are really getting my messages.

No Known Relatives in the Database - DNA matches are only possible when biological relatives have also taken our test and are part of our database. If none of your close or recent relatives have tested with us yet, the system may only identify more distant genetic connections.
Privacy and Consent Settings - Some individuals choose not to participate in genetic matching or prefer to keep their information private. We fully respect these choices, which means they won’t appear as matches even if a genetic connection exists.
As a result, the matches shown are limited to individuals who have tested with us and have opted in to participate in relative matching. As more people join over time, there’s always a possibility that closer matches may appear.
Regarding messaging, please note that the ability to read and respond to messages is available to users who are subscribed to the All Access Premium subscription. If your matches are not subscribed to or not actively checking their accounts, that may be why you haven’t received replies.

I had an overall average experience
I had an overall average experience with this genetic testing company. The process itself was straightforward, and the results I did receive were fine—but nothing that really stood out compared to other services.
The biggest downside for me has been the lack of family connections. I’m still waiting for matches to come through, which is frustrating—especially knowing that many of my relatives have already taken genetic tests through other platforms and were able to find each other quickly.
For the price, I expected much more. It feels overpriced for what you actually get, particularly when compared to other options. I recently purchased a test through Ancestry for around $50, and based on what I’ve seen so far, I’m expecting better and more meaningful results there.
Overall, not a terrible experience—but definitely not worth the cost in my opinion.

I had waited a long time before I could afford to order my genetic testing. I researched companies and thought CRI seemed like the best choice for me.I think advertising for all of these companies is very flawed. I am so profoundly upset over the lack of information that I received in regards to family history and wellness.The information provided may be accurate but for me it was so generic that I feel like it could have been dug out of the trash. I know for money spent it is not going to open up the world to you. However for me it provided no factual information that I could even verify because there was not enough information provided where I could fact check anything. I wanted to learn a little about my people to give me a sense of belonging and where I come from. On the health side my family has traits ofsome specific health issues and that I might be able to understand how far back some of these traits went back my family. I received no information that I was expecting. That may be my fault for not truly understanding what is provided. I learned nothing of my family other than it is all European descent and percentages and in my opinion no actual health related information at all. They could have just printed a short report with the data that I actually received. It was stated that for additional fees I could obtain more information. Thought that was what I paid for. I do understand that for the millions of people ordering this information you are only going to get a specific amount due to cost and time.I just feel so completely let down and I was so excited. I personally do not feel like I was given any information that I considered to be of value to me. I was just left feeling deflated.
