LIARS AND CHEATS - AVOID AT ALL COSTS

I sincerely wish I had read all the negative reviews of this "company" otherwise I would have NEVER ordered anything from this fraudulent scam-artist sham. I think we are all so used to buying from American companies that make it so easy to return items, even if just just changed our minds about the product and there is nothing wrong with it.

I should have known better when my computer warned me about clicking on the website, but my 20-year-old niece had sent me the link for a red-mini-dress as a potential Christmas present. It looked cute in the photo on the model, so I ordered it, paying a lot extra in order to get it in time for Christmas ($101 all in). When my niece tried on the dress, she was horrified. It was a cheap polyester-type material and it did not fit AT ALL - way too big in most places and too small in others. She is a pretty standard size 4. In addition, instead of being a mini-skirt, the dress came down well below her knees. I took the dress back from her and thought, no big deal, I'll just return it. This is where the nightmare began.

I couldn't find a return receipt in the box or anywhere on the site and discovered that I had to "chat" with an operator, who told me I couldn't just send back the dress, I had to email customer service. By the way, I immediately realized that English was not a first or second language for these operators. When I got an email back, I was shocked to get a very defensive email telling me that the company would have to explain the return to their manufacturer, and that I would have to measure the dress and take pictures. I thought they were insane and immediately complained. However, I hit a brick wall. I finally bought a tape measure, measure the bust, waist and hips, and took photographs. I think that they try to trap customers who don't notice their sizing charts on their website that are probably different than American charts. However, when I measured the dress, I immediately noticed that the dress didn't even measure up to their own charts. It was way off in the bust and waist. In addition, the size chart didn't mention a length, so all we had to go by was the picture of the model - and the hem in that photo came to about a foot above the model's knee. This dress I bought was so long that even if I held it up to my body (I am over 6 feet tall), the hem of the dress still came down to my knees. Furthermore, the dress was already fraying in places thanks to its cheap materials.

Speaking of the cheap material, there was no label anywhere on the dress telling us what kind of materials were used to make the garment - or WHERE it was made. I believe that is a requirement of clothes sold in this country. I also noticed that there is a sign on their site saying "Satisfaction Guaranteed," so I took a photo of that as well - and sent all my proof back to them.

To my shock and horror, they still continued to defend the dress, saying that I had measured it wrong, and that a slight deviation was expected. And they still refused to give me a return address. Finally, they offered me a 15% refund, which made me scoff. This e-mail exchange went back and forth for a while - and I caught them in a lie when they said that the dress took over ten days to make. I quickly pointed out that there were only eight days between the time I ordered the dress and the time I shipped it. They also insisted on calling it a "custom made" dress even though I had ordered a size 4.

Finally, after numerous email exchanges with these annoying operators and their broken English, I finally started a dispute with PayPal. The first step, in which PayPal doesn't actually intervene, Dressale simply denied my request. Consequently, I escalated my complaint so that PayPal has to get involved.

I don't know how this company continues to do business in this country considering all the complaints I've read. I'm pretty sure that the "good" reports on these sites were written by plants of the company. The fact that they refuse to let us return a garment, giving us a sob story about all the labor and money that goes into a garment, is absurd. I mentioned to them that they are a big company whereas I am just one person who spent 100 heard-earned dollars and ended up without a gift for my niece. They are guilty of false advertising, fraud, theft and numerous other counts. I'm going to complain to the better-business bureau as well - and anyone else who will listen. I wish PayPal, Visa, MC, etc. would stop allowing Dressale to use them as payment methods.

Please keep complaining and reporting these scam-artists!

ABSOLUTE SCAM- DO NOT BUY FROM THEM!!

My experience happened almost a year ago, but I'm still so upset by what they did to me and their business that I am taking the time to warn people not to ever buy from them.

I ordered a dress for my brother's wedding. They called me up on the phone to take my measurements and sounded very pleasant and nice. I was ordering a little last minute, but they assured me it would come by a certain date, a few weeks before the wedding. The date came and the dress hadn't arrived so I contacted customer service. They assured me it would come by a different date. Again, it didn't come, and the wedding was coming close. I contacted them again, and again they reassured me of a different date. I asked for absolute assurance, since they had already broken promises to me. Their response, "Well, we can't forecast the future." That's when I realized something was up. I kept at them asking for clear answers and why they weren't sending my package. They would take 20 minutes to respond to a simple question like - "Why hasn't my package shipped?" I later realized, they stalled me purposefully in the hopes that I'd give up. After waiting for their response exhaustively, I just said "Okay, well if I can't get it on time, then I just want my money back". Then, all of a sudden, they sent me notification that my package would arrive in 2 days. When I saw the dress I was appalled. It looked like it wouldn't even be worthy to wear in a school play. It was nothing like the picture, and an obvious rip off. Thankfully, we got refunded through PayPal. However, that was only possible, since I demanded them to ship the dress immediately. Otherwise, they would have waited to ship it until the refund period for PayPal had expired. Oh, and by the way, the dress arrived 2 days before the wedding. I was forced last minute to call on a few favors to get a normal dress in time. They still contact me to this day telling me to send the dress back to China. (When PayPal assured me that I don't need to). Can't fathom why they'd want it anyway.

BOTTOM LINE: Do not buy from this company. They are scam artists and liars. If you have already bought through them, try to get refunded through PayPal if it's not too late. Just be prepared for a few month of badgering from them to send the product back to China. Just ignore them, they'll go away… eventually. If it's too late, you have my sympathies.

I ordered an ivory, short beaded wedding dress. I live chatted with a representative who assisted me with measurements. My dress arrived in a few weeks, and it's gorgeous. It's even better than the pictures on line. Fully lined, stitched perfectly, high quality. I couldn't be more pleased. I'll buy from them again.

Poor Quality Items

I sent them pictures and spoke with multiple "representatives" through their chat. I ask to have the item match the pictures and to put pearls or the same beads as my wedding dress. The said they would and I asked to be sent pictures before they ship the item out because I was aware of their refund policy. So guess what they did? Send me the package without emailing me or even notifying me that it was being sent. And guess what else? They send me this jacket with clear beads and the jacket was the material of a cheap veil. You can see the threads on the seams and the beads. All my friends have looked at this jacket just to make sure I wasn't being too picky and they all agreed that it is a poor quality item. You get what you pay for.

Not sure what all the negativity is about...

I'm not sure what all the negativity surrounding this business is all about but I am glad that I didn't let it deter me from ordering my wedding dress from them because I loved it!! I was extremely hesitant and oh so nervous but decided that for the price, I had to at least try. I paid the $20.00 more for the custom sizing and it was perfect- a teeny tiny bit too big but that is better IMO than too small. A small tip though- order your dress a little bit longer than you might think because I did find that mine was a little bit shorter than I would have preferred and I took it to an alteration place and it was a pretty quick fix. My dress was beautiful and I don't feel that anyone could tell the difference between a $1,000+ and this less than $300 dress. I also don't feel that shipping took extremely long, I think I got mine in about 3 weeks which is very good considering they had to make it and ship it overseas. Very pleased with my dress :)

Maybe I got lucky?

I ordered a hoop skirt petticoat from these guys. Only after I ordered it did I see all the negative reviews online, so I was a bit concerned waiting for it. However, I seem to have had the direct opposite experience as most people. They estimated that I would get it several days later than I actually did (I actually received it in time for my wedding reception--it wasn't a big deal because I had a different one, this one was just bigger and a little nicer looking). Rather than getting it the Saturday they estimated, I got it all the way back on the Monday. And the quality of it was just fine! Maybe a few loose strings here and there, but it's certainly better than I could manage. The price wasn't outrageous either. Not to mention the customer service was quite good! They called me like, an hour after I ordered and confirmed. Maybe I just got lucky because I didn't order a dress or anything too complicated, but I'm actually pretty pleased with everything.

horrible everything-DON'T BUY!!

ordered my daughter's prom dress-it came about 2 weeks later than expected, It was squished into a bag and I was surprised it was the dress. Opened it up and the corset strings were ripped in half and off the dress. Plus the dress was NOTHING like the picture shown, it looked ugly-they used a picture from the designer's site and put it on their website. Spoke to the designer and she confirmed they do this-as well as many other sites. So we asked to return due to damage and it looked nothing like what we ordered. They are arguing now that there is no way the dress could be damaged (so they don't have to refund) I am still arguing with them and they are insulting my intelligence and will not even believe for a second the dress is damaged. Horrible customer service, ugly dresses-DON"T BUY you will be disappointed!!!

Still hoping my credit card, paypal or BBB will fight to get our money back......

Scam.. deserved NO star.. one star was the lowest

Please DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS COMPANY!! I ordered a formal gown for an upcoming event. It was awful. It looked like something I could have done and I cannot sew. The fabric was not what was on photo .. the color was totally wrong. The under making of the dress that I guess was for shape ended up looking like I had a box under my long gown.. Not sure what they were trying to accomplish but if you saw it you would walk up to me to try and push it down or pull something from under the dress. Horrible decor. there was supposed to be very nice ornate crystal like decor on top like the beautiful picture that pulls us all in. It was instead some cheap plastic crystal looking stuff in placed at random not in any real design... Both sides of the decor was different. I called and emailed to get a refund. I sent pictures. Of course the answer was It looks as it is supposed to. YOU WILL NEVER GET ANY MONEY BACK.. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!! AWFUL!!! There should be some way to protect consumers from this type of company..

A totally horrible experience

I bought a custom made Mother of the Groom dress and it was delivered in late June. I tried it on and it was 4 1/2" too small on the bust. Customer Service at Dressale told me to send pictures, specifically asking me to use a measuring tape across the back of the dress. I sent them 2 pictures and the response was: (1) its a small problem, (2) take it to a local tailor to fix (3) I had measured incorrectly (even though I used a professional dress designer to measure me and (d) the dress has passed through quality control so it was made accurately. After sending 15 emails and receiving a general run around, Dressale offered a 20% discount on the purchase of a new dress. Why would I trust them to make a new dress!!!! Three times I asked them to take the dress back or give me a refund but they totally ignored these questions and it got to the point where Dressale was harassing me to order a new dress. Finally, they dealt with the question of returning the dress. Their response was: (a) I would be responsible for 80% of the original cost of the dress for them to remake it (b) I would be responsible for all return shipping costs. I even provided a transcript from their Chat Line operator who said I would receive a refund if the dress was not made accurately. This statement is also made on their website. Dressale do not honour their commitment of a refund if the dress is not made accurately. I tried to post a negative review on their website but it was blocked so that tells me the reviews are carefully screened and negative reviews screened out. You are not hearing from all of their customers. Although Customer Support respond quickly to your emails, they do not address the issue or take any responsibility for the error they created. They deal with you as if you are the one who created the problem in the first place. STAY AWAY from this company because they are not honest or ethical.

Never Again will I ever!!!!

Never again. I ordered a dress and received a call a few days later saying they can not find the original lace for the back of the dress. (My assumption is they never had it to begin with) they sent me a pic of the new lace asking me to confirm. I did not like the new lace and simply asked for a refund and received this in response (after several persuasive emails trying to get me to reconsider that is):

"Dear customer,
Thanks for your shopping with Dressale. Sorry to hear that you want to cancel the order, if you do , there will be a series of fees ,such as Paypal Transaction Fees,Order Information System Processing Fees,Product Procurement Operation Fees etc, which will be certain economic loss for you.Thus , we do hope that you can reconsider it"

I should not receive any economic loss, It is not my fault that they could not provide what they said. I have yet to receive a refund and I pray that I do. This is wrong. Do not order!!!

Scam! Poor quality, and customer service. CALL PAYPAL FOR REFUND

IF UNHAPPY WITH PURCHASE, AND WANT A REFUND, READ FOR SOLUTION: I bought a formal dress from Dressale.com for my son's wedding. The dress arrived stuffed in a bag, poorly sewn, crooked, falling apart, and a straight pin stuck in the waistband still. I sent several emails to the customer service for a full refund to which they said to have a local seamstress fix the dress, and they offered a discount on my next purchase (as if). I noticed the payment was processed through Pay Pay so I called their customer service at 1-888-221-1161, and was told as long as it is within 45 days from purchase I could file a claim. PayPal is giving them 10 days to resolve the issue, and if they do not PayPal will refund the money. CALL THEM

terrible customer service

This place has to be a fraud. I needed a dress for my wedding...so I thought that I found one with them. I even paid extra to have the dress delivered early. It did not come as it was supposed to...when I asked for my money back within the 72 hour time frame, they told me I can't get it back and I should be patient.
Some nerves. I emailed them,back begging to get a refund and they told me no. Even though I was within the 72,hour time frame as stated on the website. When the dress finally came to me it was not the dress on the pictured that i ordered nor the size. Again I asked for my money back and they told to go somewhere locally to have them make it look like what the picture was. The dress was poorly made with beading that was not on the picture. Save your money and go somewhere within locally. This place has to be a scam.

Never buy anything from this company.

My daughter found a dress for prom online but it was discontinued and they did not have it in her size. So after searching the internet she finally found the dress in her size. After she ordered the dress she received an email asking all these questions about size, color, beads, etc. This is when she realized the dress was to be made, not off the rack. She sent the information in and we waited wondering what we would receive.

Well the dress arrived on time. What she received was a cheaply made poor imitation of the original dress she had ordered. The materials used were of the lowest quality and they had studded the lace with large cheap rhinestones. The bust of the dress was wrong and where the lace was attached to the shirt, it was badly tacked and hung wrong.

I contacted the company and told them we were unhappy with the quality of the dress. They asked me to send pictures of the dress which I did. They then responded "After we checking the photos you provided carefully, we found the dress is similar to the picture shown on our website. The #XXXXXXX is from different supplier so it would be different. As we stated before, if you want the dress to be exactly the same as the picture shown, then the dress price will be much more expensive.
As the saying goes: a penny minute goods. We don't sell luxuries, we sell reasonable dresses with reasonable price. And we're willing to offer you a 10% discount for your next purchase".

Well my husband was really angry about this so he contacted the credit card company and started chargeback procedures to get our money back since they would not let us return the dress even though it says on their website 100% satisfaction guaranteed. The credit card company contacted me and told me I had to return the dress. When I informed them that the company refused to give me any return information they informed me that I had to try.

So I started again trying to find return information and failed. I did find numerous complaints about the company but none on their website. So I went to the dress page on their website and wrote a review of the dress we received and the treatment of the company. I received an email from Dressale asking what they could do. I told them I wanted a return address to send the dress back. They said "Thank you for your e-mail.I do not think the full refund is wise for you to do so . If you want to return the dress,you have to pay for the shipping fees.As you know,the shipping fees from United States to China is very high.I do not think that is wise for you to do so. On the other hand,I do not think the full refund is fair for the factory.The factory has devoted so much money and energy to make the dress.The tailors often work day and night to make the dress for you. Thus,I hope you can keep the dress.and we will give you partial refund.Let us think a way which is fair for both of us,Ok?" I responded with with 50% of the price of the dress. They then responded with "It is a great pity that you are not satisfied with our service. But if you can keep it and alter it in local , we will give 10 dollar refund to your dressale account as a balance for you.Ok? What is more ,we will give you more discount for your next order." When I checked my review on the website, it had been removed.

Several weeks later, the credit card company sent us a letter saying Dressale had not responded to the chargeback and therefore they were crediting the full amount of the dress back to our account. We thought the story ended there. Oh no. We got the following response back from Dressale, "We have knowed that you have made the chargeback.According to the requirement of the credit card company and the policy,you need to send the dress back to us.Otherwise,not sending the dress has no difference to the deceitful beheviour and we will report that to the credit card company.On the other hand ,as the shipping fees are paid by you according to the policy,you can choose the ordinary and the cheapest way to send it to us ,such as USPS first classs.Our shipping address is as follows."

I paid $50 to have the dress ship USPS back to Dressale before we left for vacation. When we returned there was a letter from our credit card company saying Dressale never received the dress. I then scanned the receipt and tracking information of the dress showing the dress had been delivered to the company and sent it to the credit card company This whole process started in March and we are now in July. Is it worth it? Yes. I do not think companies like this should be allowed to continue ripping off people. There needs to be some way for customers to rate a company though payment system so that consumers know who they are dealing with before they make a purchase.

WORSE MISTAKE EVER!

I ordered my dress several months early. I sent my measurements in and the company called me several times. The day came and went that my dress was suppose to arrive. I called repeatedly and the dress finally came five days before my wedding. They must have just t sent the dress not finished......it was missing huge gaps of lace and the dress wasn't even finished being sewed, It was also not the measurements that I gave them. The dress did not look like the dress I ordered. I had to pay someone $151,00 to try to fix it, but the dress still didn't fit. I had no money left to buy a dress and had to wear it. I complained trying to get some kind of refund. I sent pictures as they requested and they said they saw nothing wrong...Really...the dress was shredding apart and had gaps of lace missing. I have read a few good reviews. Those people do not know how lucky they are. I am sure if they ordered again they will have a nightmare on their hands. :(((( Ordered dress first week in March 2013 and it came overnight express on May 28, 2013. I was married on June 2, 2013

never shop with dressale.com

i will never shop with dressale again! i ordered a wedding dress with them and they promised i would have it 2 weeks before the wedding, then they called and said they needed until 3 days before the wedding. i let them know that i still needed to get shoes and accessories to match and needed the dress to do that... i gave them 2 months before my wedding to get it to me... i recieved it on the day of my wedding and too late for the ceremony... i had been promised if i did not get it on the day they promised i would be fully refunded. when it came late they refused to give my money back and tried to say it was the shipping companies fault, but it wasnt... they sent the dress the day i was supposed to get it...also i had sent my measurements and it did not fit at all... my body hasnt changed in 10 years so there is no way it was my fault... the hips were too small and the bust was way too big... the beeding is uneven and stitching is not very high quality. i am very unhappy with the whole process and will b sure to let anyone i can know not to shop with dressale.com

Honestly, absolutely terrible.

I bought my dress because it looked nice in the picture and it was on sale. The sale was ending that night, but when I visited the url for that dress again the next month, the sale was still going on. The sales just repeat so it looks like you're saving money. The sales representatives are very difficult to communicate with because they don't fully understand English, though they design it like an English-speaking website. They try to justify any errors in the dresses by saying they're all "handmade".

My dress took about forty days to be made, then I got an email saying it would arrive at my door in 3-5 business days. I contacted them 10 days later saying my dress hasn't arrived yet and they said they would email me later about the problem. They never did. I contacted them again two days later and they told me that I'll probably have to wait another four days. When I quoted their late shipping policy, they only responded with "." twice, then stopped replying to me. The live chat screen doesn't load at all now. They never gave me any compensation for the lateness.

After a quick search, I found that most of the "good" reviews on here are fake, and the pictures on their profiles are taken from girls (mostly non-English speaking, Italian girls) without their permission. A waste of a good amount of money.

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE I HAVE EVER RECEIVED!!!! The website has the wrong description details, which resulted in the wrong dress arriving at our door, and then when we tried to contact the team to get it sorted, no one could help and they blamed us!! they took absolutely NO ownership of the issue and called us liars in addition to refusing to assist in any way! I have never been treated this way by a company, nor did I ever think that this day and age any company would have such a disgraceful approach when they themselves made the mistake. NEVER BUY FROM THIS WEBSITE!!! I will be making sure that everyone I know hears about this experience and never buys from this website also. PLEASE DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY OR TIME - THIS HAS BEEN SO STRESSFUL - SAVE YOURSELF THE HEADACHE!!!!
