David has carried out work at our property many times over the past 12 years. The most recent being today. From adjustments and repairs to the old windows, when we moved in, to replacement windows/doors/soffits and fascias and replacement glazing panels in our conservatory. David is always prompt, tidy and his work is always finished to a high standard.

David Sherlock is such a joy to work with - he arrives promptly, is responsive to queries, is tidy and does a fantastic job. He has fitted a replacement panel in our french doors and a porch for us as well as minor repairs to old locks. His charges are very reasonable as well.

Could not recommend more highly!

David recently did a few repairs for me, including window closing mechanisms and hinges, and a letterbox replacement.

I apologise for this being a long review, but I feel I can’t overstate how pleased I’ve been with this work. Previously, I’ve used the larger UPVC window fitting and repair company in the local area. They did similar repairs to what was done this time – but their work didn’t seem to be to this high standard, and their repair men didn’t spend as much time on any of the jobs.

• Responsive – David was quick to respond to my initial phone call enquiry and also came out without much delay to look at what needed doing to provide a quotation. The quotation came through quickly – he had itemised each item clearly and also offered a discount for doing multiple jobs in one visit. He fitted in an appointment within a week of me confirming which jobs I would like him to do.
• Quality of work – David clearly takes pride in what he does. A couple of the items he had to do turned out to be tricky, but he spent time on getting the work done to his satisfaction. I have definitely noticed how well the work has been done. The windows close snugly and are soundproof once again, which was the main issue. Additionally, the opening and closing action seems so much better than it ever was. I have also noticed that he greased the closing/locking mechanisms, which is not something a repairs tradesman has ever done before. The letterbox turned out to be a challenge – but David used his problem-solving skills to make sure he could make the new one fit the existing hole in the door!
• Professionalism – David is very polite, professional and really seems to enjoy his work. He seems to like a challenge and doesn’t let any unforeseen problem beat him – which is really impressive! He takes the time to listen to what the issues are from the customer’s point of view, and talks you through what might need to be done.
His written quotation and invoice are both very clear. Each item of work I had asked him to look at was costed separately on the invoice. There are no hidden extras and he explains how he can discount multiple jobs, so I could decide how much I wanted him to do.
• Clean and tidy – David covered the space in the general work area to keep the carpet clean. He also made sure the area was cleaned and tidied up, after he had finished.
• Pricing – compared to another local company’s pricing, this might have been a little more (they didn’t itemise their bill, so it was hard to compare), but not by much. Moreover, as I feel I got a much better service, due to the time David put in and the level of care and attention he gave the work, I think that, overall, it was a better investment.

I would definitely recommend David Sherlock Home Improvements to anyone. I wish I had known about his service, years ago! I'll definitely use his company again. It’s rare to find good quality tradespeople these days, who do a thorough job to good standards for a competitive price – and I think I've found one, here!

David Sherlock is my one stop shop for all my double glazing needs. Most companies will simply want replace new units for old. This can be both wasteful and expensive. David is happy to replace parts, carry out repairs and maintenance as well as install new or replacement double glazing. David is reliable, his prices are reasonable and his work is always to the highest standard. Highly recommended.

David is very reliable from start to finish. He is trustworthy and very professional. He will do very small repairs or replace windows and doors etc.We have used him for over 10 years and have always found his work excellent. He is a very skilled Professional and we would not hesitate to recommend him.

He was by far the best estimate I had, very professional and kept in contact with me about how it all went whilst also in contact with our tenant. David is honest and old school with his workmanship and expertise. Davis has installed French doors from a window opening ..a new front door...normal windows. Each time he has been on time...extremely tidy and courteous. I would not hesitate to use anyone else. His knowledge is outstanding.
