They make up the rules as they go. Everyone has a right to return items due to distance selling rules but eBay will not always honour this. All call centres are abroad and a nightmare to explain things to because they don't understand the laws

Fees were removed from my account without knowledge I assume for putting a book up for sale.
Can not get in touch with anyone.
Been on years but will be closing account.

Been a member of eBay for over 29 years.

At the end of may I sold a low value item to a buyer 300 miles away with a countryside postcode.

I securely packed the item and royal mail picked it up from my address. This was Friday late afternoon at 4.15pm. I have the collection receipt.

On Tuesday morning the buyer opened a case. Complained they had not yet received the item.

I responded by explaining the item had been dispatched late Friday and was unlikely to reach his remote address by Tuesday morning. I was polite (no sarcasm).

I asked the buyer if he would give the item 7 clear days to arrive.

It was dispatched royal mail 2nd class and probably wouldn't leave my home town sorting office until Monday. Then it needs to travel 300 miles to a remote location in the countryside.

On the Thursday I messaged the buyer asking if they had received the item. No response from buyer at all.

On Friday eBay refunded the buyer in full. BUYER HAD NOT REQUESTED A REFUND.

Estimated arrival time provided by eBay on the listing page was still fully 14 days away.

So obviously this is a mistake. They will apologise and backtrack?? No chance.

I contacted eBay instantly but got nowhere. It was as though they didn't understand.

I have since emailed the buyer 6 times more. On each occasion I ask the same question, HAVE YOU RECEIVED THE ITEM?

The buyer (fully refunded buyer) never responds at all.

In the past 12 months I have sent over 500 items via royal mail. Every single one has successfully reached it's destination.

This item may not (always a chance) but the buyer refuses to say that.

eBay refunded the buyer before item had a chance to be delivered. Well over 2 weeks before their estimated delivery date. The buyer made no request for a refund.

How the hell can this happen?

This is an eBay error. However it is also a crime

I would say something like I hope eBay read this and investigate their error. That however is pointless because they simply don't care.

I won a music centre from seller PAAKEH98, who then went to ebay to falsely claim I had cancelled, issued refund. Several emails between seller and me, I left neg feedback. Ebay slyly removed it! Several exchanges with ebay, who will NOT DEAL with reported fraud even with documentary evidence. Shown to be lying several times to me and challenged, they suddenly cancelled access to ebay online complaint. Thanks Raj and Leon, 2 of most corrupt individuals in the corrupt ebay company AND COMPLICIT IN FRAUD BY SELLER. EBAY IS NOW A DISGUSTING COMPANY, nothing like it was when I started buying 20 year ago! IF I COULD GIVE NO STARS I WOULD.

Ebay is truly disgusting and heartless, they have indefinitely suspended my account after I provided ALL documents they requested and I have 100% feedback. They are happily withholding my money for 190 days while I suffer to make ends meet. Customer service agents are heartless and robotic. Shame on you Ebay, I have no idea how these people sleep at night.

Absolutely shocking! My seller account was permanently suspended without any clear reason or constructive feedback on how to resolve the issue. All I received was a vague response: "We can't provide a reason." Extremely disappointing customer service.

EBay have allowed a Seller in India called Pureville to take. over £750 of. my money and refuse to refund me when the transaction was not honoured!
I was a guest buyer for an Indian musical instrument when I was hit with a huge additional charge from Customs and Excise which I wasn’t told about and couldn’t afford.
So I am left with no instrument and having lost all of my money.
EBay and the Seller have treated me me abominably.
People….DO NOT Trust EBay

I had to pay 90 pence on a five pound plant. won't be using them ever again.

I used a seller called HNVEIPUTN, Chinese company. DO NOT PURCHASE ANYTHING FROM THEM!. I cancelled my order literally 2 minutes after purchase, they said I would receive refund. Still waiting over a month later, countless messages asking where it is, they said they had sent it, they haven’t!. Keep telling me to contact eBay, eBay tells me to contact them. I left a bad review, that was taken off oddly…..read the company’s previous reviews, seems I’m not the only one that has been scammed. And it is all fake products they sell. Only realised this after reading the reviews. STAY AWAY FROM THEM, scammers, rip of merchants, that sell fake products and leave customers out of pocket.

Ebay seems to be self sabotaging.

Bought a guest purchase on ebay...parcel never arrived reported it and when looking at tracking noticed Fedex had delivered to the wrong postcode in spite of correct one being on the original order confirmation! Seller says it was delivered, tried to tell ebay of problem what a joke, just round and round in circles. Will never use again!

The prices on eBay now are ridiculously high for second hand stuff! Sellers need a reality check! They will get one when they don't sell their over priced second hand USED clothes!

eBay has turned into a platform that scams buyers.
They don't protect you even if you've paid for Buyer protection.
They'll just send you off to Citizens advice bureau for help.

Ebay was fine till they recently invoiced the new Simple Delivery system, this has now totally ruined the selling experience overcharging sellers and buyers with incorrect post costs and even adding a postage charge on all my free delivery items, total madness doesn't even begin to describe the utter chaos this has caused. I was on the phone to them on 3 separate occasions for nearly 2 hours and got no help whatsoever ever in the end I had to cancel all my active listings due to the errors this new postal system has made on my active listings, I didn't even get an apology. This is the biggest act of self sabotage a company has ever committed I can see alot of people leaving ebay now because of this appalling new postage system that has been forced upon ebay users and after over 20 years I may be one of them.

eBay no longer want private sellers. They say it's 'free to sell', but then lock you into their Simple Delivery system which means you no longer have control of who you use to deliver your item and what type of service to use. They removed seller fees (which most people didn't have a problem with as you built it into your price) and instead are now charging the BUYER a fee when they purchase items from private sellers! This fee is supposed to protect when buying from private sellers, but previously buyers had protection under the money back guarantee which was free! It is also, so they say, to protect the buyer's payment. Are they telling us that the payments made on their platform before, when buyers didn't pay this fee, were not secure? Of course they weren't. eBay have got too big for their boots and have forgotten their roots.

So Disgusted By EBAY. You SHOULD BE ASHAMED!
Ebay in their Greed has now decided to charge Buyers " Buyer Protection " This means that the price the seller is offering to buyers has 5% buyers protection fee added by ebay. This fee is then kept by ebay even after Buyer has received item and left seller feedback. This also means that the seller has to either lessen their price to accommodate this added expense of maybe lose buyers as we are not prepared to pay extra to ebay. Ebay always had buyer guarantee which I believe they still have. I have been buying from ebay for over 15 years. I will be closing my account. EBAY, If Money is Your God, then I hope You Lose more customers because of it. Stop ripping off your buyers and sellers for GREEDY PROFIT......

I sold a Chanel bag from vestaire with serial number and serial card to match I sent it to have it authenticated to eBay as it was sold they sent back an email less then 12 hours later have no idea how it arrived so quickly saying it was counterfeit I’m so fuming these staff don’t even work for Chanel they aren’t experienced they prob looked online for some reason to authenticate it I’m so annoyed by this and shocked to say the least I can’t trust ebay now iv messaged the person to explain it’s made me look awful I would never purchase fake items and yet it looks like I’m a fake when I’m clearly not so now after 10 years of buying and selling iv sold numerous designer goods bags in the past shame on them please think carefully because this behaviour is shameful Ebay you are shameful please don’t make excuses you need to get some qualified stafff

I have been with Ebay for 27 years... I bought an item which was 4 years out of date according to the manufacturers batch code... Ebay did Nothing as I was past the 30 days grace period! told me to contact Paypal who told me to contact Amex! Just shifting blame to one another and not taking responsibility. To add insult to injury they then refused to give me the sellers name and address so that I could take them to a small claims court under the Sale Of Goods Act ... BEWARE they are rogues and they protect BAD sellers ! Just by looking at their feedback on this site and how they don't defend the bad reviews proves this time and time again.. It's all about making money, honey!! I'll be ticking the notify Ebay box but won't expect/get a response!
