Ethan Allen Reviews 

I understand reviews are subjective based on experience. With that said, when you pay retail personnel 100% commission for "design" services, and it's the end of the month...... Let's just say, you might not get the best experience.
Fast forward, when you raise your concerns to corporate, which then trickle back down to the retail level you get an instance where feelings are hurt, and the service becomes non-existent, to zero fairly quickly.
Advice-If moving to the Charleston area (1st or 2nd + home) there's plenty of other options than Ethan Allen. Do yourself a favor and explore them.

We ordered our custom sofa, and our experience was second to none. First rate product, service, and delivery. The soca even arrived a month earlier than promised. Thank you Ethan Allen, we only will purchase our furniture from you in the future.

Would give zero stars if I could. You're pressured to pay extra to become a "member" to get better prices, then even better prices are offered to the public in the next sale. Designers think they're Coco Chanel, and heaven help you if you need something they don't carry--how can you get objective design advice when they can recommend only something in Ethan Allen stock? Never again.

I have a bedroom set that is 25 years old that still looks beautiful. When we bought the new house I decided to purchase from the River Edge NJ store, a new table, buffet & chairs for the dining room. BIG MISTAKE.
The arms on the Cherry wood arm chairs were in some cases cut on the grain, so where they were screwed to the frame, they split (and this set was only used once at that point for Christmas morning breakfast). They sent a repair man with a new arm. He managed to install the new arm, but left a mess on my white dining room rug.

Then the finish on the top of the table started to pit. The set was less than a year old. After a whole lot of telephone calls they said they were doing me a favor by sending someone put to look at it. Their tech did something to that area of the table. A few months later the same pitting started appearing on a different section of the table. They asked for pictures. I was told it was from use.......the dining room set had been used only twice and they would not do anything about it. When I called the store I was told unofficially by the person on the phone, "I cant expect the same quality as I have with my older pieces. Things are being made in other places now and not as well". Wish I had known that $7K dollars ago.
Now the set is 4 years old and the arm on the other arm chair split. I luckily found a craftsman who agreed to look at the set. He made a new arm with the grain going in the proper direction....he also refinished the top and it looks great after quite a few meals that included children at the table. All he chairs on the set have dings in them were they meet the table, our carpenter said that was because the table was made cheaply and the outside edge should have been routed smooth so hard corner didn't bite into the chairs every time they were pushed in. He fixed that and fixed the marks on the chairs and to my surprise, they look fantastic and we are using the set now more than ever. I spent a lot of money expecting Ethan Allen to supply a quality product but that's not what we got.

I love love love Ethan Allen. It's very expensive and it takes forever to get your furniture (think 3-4 months) but it's all made custom for you when you order it, they don't carry stock in a warehouse unless you buy something right off the show room floor. Which is nice because typically you can customize the items by color and fabrics.

I used their free design advice when we built our home where they send a professional decorator out to measure your space, take your notes and ideas under consideration, and plan out the space for you. You then go to the store if you like where they will show you all the color patterns and decorative items they suggest.

It is tons of fun. Their stuff is beautiful and very high quality. For $100-150 they will have their delivery and setup folks come into the home and set everything up - they've very professional.

I've also ordered window treatments from them and had them custom-made and installed, same.

It's pricey - but worth it.
