Easy to work with

I just used GetMovers for a small job and was super pleased with how well it went. We clearly discussed what needed to be done beforehand, and everything went pretty smoothly. No concerns at all, would definitely use them again for any moving or heavy lifting jobs.

Worst company ever

I shouldn't have fallen for these fake 5 star reviews. The day of my move on Oct 1st these guys didn't show up, and didn't even call to tell me they couldn't show up. I thought they were so professional, they emailed me all the details and contract, website looked professional, I paid my deposit well in advance, and even the day before my move Victor called to confirm we are all good for the next morning at 10am. While I was waiting for them to show up I found a review from a gentleman in 2021 that had the exact same situation as me. Now I started getting worried. After numerous calls to Victor (all going straight to voicemail) I was able to get someone on another number who told me no one is coming and I have to reschedule for the next day (it's now almost noon by the way) HOW do i reschedule when I sold my house and legally have to be out on the 1st?? Luckily my neighbor helped me with some guys he knew, it took us 12 hours but they probably did a better job than these guys would have done. They really took care of my stuff, no damage, and went above and beyond. I can't believe how this company completely left me hanging. At least I got my deposit back. Do not hire this company, they will totally let you down!! If I could give minus stars I would. So disappointed.
Oh! And around 1:30 a guy from this company called to say he would come move me himself. How are u gonna move a whole house by yourself?? After all the scrambling around I had to do to find new movers and a truck...on the 1st of the month and long weekend when everything is booked up. Worst service ever.

These guys are the worst

These guys are the worst. Terrible customer service, Tony and Tom are very rude and insincere staffs, they cancelled 1hour after a scheduled move time, no apology, no explanation, no solution. They basically told me to shove it after taking my money.

The absolute worst moving experience…

The absolute worst moving experience possible. Don't believe the positive reviews, the movers you will likely get have been sub-contracted and will have little or no experience. As a result, my mom's move took twice as long as expected (at twice the cost), plus the movers broke her TV and lost the dowels for her couch. She's an elderly, disabled lady and has tried to reach out to the company but they've given her (and us) the runaround, only interested in their money, refusing to hear her claim. We've appealed to the BBB and various consumer agencies for help and contacted our local politicians. Avoid these people like a coiled rattlesnake, they are pure poison.

UPDATE: Hilarious! After nearly a year and a half, Getmovers appends a note to my review (see below) saying they want to work with us on a solution. Completely false claim, nothing to back it up and far, far too late. They behaved badly, made my mother's moving day horrific, broke her stuff and over-charged her and now they pretend concern. Once again I implore prospective customers to AVOID THIS COMPANY and hire ANYONE ELSE to move you.

Absolutely surreal and horrible!

My experience with this moving company was nothing short of a catastrophic disaster. They sent two utterly inexperienced movers who not only had a significant language barrier but also displayed an alarming lack of professionalism. Despite providing them with detailed information about our belongings and our strict timeframe on multiple occasions, they estimated the job would take over 6.5 hours, which was a gross misjudgment. To make matters worse, they complained incessantly about a one-floor descent in a perfectly functional elevator.

The nightmare reached its peak when we realized we couldn't complete the move within our agreed window, a situation exacerbated by the fact that my son and I have disabilities. Despite my attempts to communicate this to the movers, they appeared utterly disinterested or unable to comprehend. I even had to repeatedly point out which items were not to be moved, and one mover asked me three times if he should move them. When we contacted the company for assistance, their proposed solutions were equally disastrous. They suggested holding our belongings overnight, leaving us with nothing but mattresses to sleep on the floor, or sending another truck and mover, which was irrelevant by then.

The billing process was equally bizarre and frustrating. They insisted on charging us for 4.5 hours of work, even though the movers had stopped at noon, which was a mere 3 hours into the job. This led to an absurd conversation with their representative, where I had to painstakingly count the hours to prove it was only 3. To top it off, they demanded cash or an e-transfer, which was impossible for us to provide, forcing us to divulge our sensitive information over the phone. The movers even had the audacity to ask if we wanted to add a tip after this nightmare. This entire experience has left us in shambles, with our son missing school and my work schedule in tatters. Our belongings were handled with zero care, and we now face the daunting task of moving everything ourselves due to the significant portion of our moving budget they took. I cannot emphasize enough how critical it is to steer clear of this abysmal company. Avoid at all costs.

ZERO STARS

ZERO STARS. DO NOT EVER USE GETMOVERS.CA. THEY WILL RUIN YOUR PEACE OF MIND, RUIN YOUR FURNITURE, LOOT MONEY AND PROVIDE POOREST SERVICE.

I USED THEIR SERVICE IN JULY 2023 FROM MISSISSAUGA TO KITCHENER IN ONTARIO AND THE EXPERIENCE WAS A NIGHTMARE.

1. The driver could not arrive at the location and cannot use a GPS properly. They passed by my residence and yet went 3 blocks away and called me saying they arrived. I was standing outside my building in the middle of the road to give them directions and they could not even speak or understand English instructions. They were unable to describe their intersection and unable to give clear direction in English. They wasted 40 minutes there.

2. We packed everything sturdily and labelled clearly what items are fragile, which side is up and what needs to be carefully handled. They did not even bother to see the instructions and handled every box very roughly holding anything upside down. Even the costly leather couch was very roughly handled.
We had to repeatedly mention for each and every item to handle properly or wrap it or blanket it, and they still damaged items. Our furniture was stepped on and broken. The broken table with boot print marks on top was heartbreaking to see. Why on earth did they use our furniture as a step stool. What professional does that???

3. After unloading, they did not unwrap the items. Also, they just dropped the boxes marked as fragile on floor from a height instead of placing them gently. We are yet to open all boxes and see what other damages has been caused inside.

I'm glad i did not use your packing service too. Otherwise the move would end in a disaster.

4. They did not unwrap anything and just left in a hurry, because they wanted to run before we see or notice the damage. They stepped on some of the furniture and even broke a tv table and tore a mattress. Photos attached.

5. After the payment was done, they just delayed purposely for more than 30 mins just to complete the time. They only had one last trolley with boxes and they took very long. So they charged me for more time.

6. They did not care to wrap properly and also did not use blankets for most of the items.

This is very disappointing experience even after paying so much of our hard earned money. On phone calls while booking and also at confirming one day before, you mentioned twice that you will take care of the items and wrap them with care. But in reality it did not happen. Everything was carelessly and roughly handled.

After making multiple calls all this they asked to raise a claim and after I submitted the claim with photographs all damages worth more than $3000, they rejected it saying you already signed a form. I signed that form for payment before 45 mins of completion of unloading as per their terms before booking. Now they are showing this form and saying claim is rejected.

Held my stuff hostage over a parking fine they were at fault for

Booked them for a condo move in Toronto. Despite clearly communicating the maximum height of the loading dock and how much I had to move (very few big items), they brought a truck which was far too big for the job. They couldn't park in the loading dock so parked in the street and received a $500 parking ticket. They then refused to unload my stuff until I paid the parking ticket fine on addition to the fee for the move. Best case it was negligent and unprofessional, worst case borderline criminal.

Do yourself a favor and use a proper, reputable moving company which isn't going to hold your belongings hostage over a fine which they were at fault for.

The driver also failed to navigate properly to my property which added another 30mins on to the move, although this pales in comparison to what happened before but showcases again the lack of professionalism.

Moving condo/house is already a stressful time and these guys certainly aren't going to make it any easier or cheaper. Avoid at all costs.

Don’t recommend at all, don’t call them don’t even mention their name.
Am a Veteran am used to move a lot and always good service with moving companies but these guys totally my worst nightmare.

This company are exploiters, self center, Their behavior would be called 'self-serving.
I booked them 2 weeks ahead and request a move include packing and load, unloading at new residence, I was told boxes and tapes is provided .
Here’s what happened they showed up no boxes, no tape and had to go to home hardware to buy materials I observed the driver packing pictures frame one agains another stack up in the box with no padding or materials between when I mentioned to him his reply when it’s tight nothing move, the were supposed to start at 9 am they didn’t start till 10:00 the driver was always on his phone and telling the other guy what to do I had 80 percent of my items packed it took them 4 hours to load and they packed 3 boxes when came time to unload the driver stayed in the truck majority of the time and talking to bystander and also the talking to the ambulance people totally lazy, it took them 3 hours to unload he was just milking me taking every pennies he could get.
When bill came and mentioned that he was late he mentioned that is written in the contract that they’re not responsible if late due to traffic he wouldn’t let me talk and kept arguing with me totally disrespectful. The next day I got called by the cleaning crew to let me know that a cupboard was left with many of my items.people need to know about them.
I was charge $47.83 for 5 boxes, paper, and tapes, they used 3 boxes and hardly used any packing paper, they used all my tape that I had.
Pictures include lamps damages packing paper remaining almost full.
I was bill 7 hours plus boxes and tape UNBELIEVABLE and if I didn’t pay they were going to keep my furniture remaining in the truck.
They will use any excuse you can think of bunch of oxygen thief.
They need to lose their license in order to stop stealing from customers.

Poor moving experience, caused damage, terrible customer service

I don't usually write a bad review for a company but hiring Get Movers was a terrible experience for us and I feel the need to warn others. When the moving truck arrived with a name on it that we didn't recognize, it became clear that they subcontract - so there is unpredictability there and you don't know the quality of the movers you're going to get.

The movers took items to our storage area off site and at that site they pressured us into paying before they finished the job. When we got home from the storage unit we found gouges in our wall, scratches all over our basement floor and extensive damage to our basement door and trim around it.

On the same day, we sent an email with photos of the damage, which they completely ignored. After numerous attempts at getting through to them they sent us a claim form which we filled out, and after two weeks they still didn't get back to us to resolve the issue. So again we had to contact them and when they finally responded they said they rejected our claim because we already paid them. They made us pay them when we were off site and couldn't check to see if there was damage at the house. When we told them that, they again ignored us and haven't bothered to reply.

It's incredibly frustrating to deal with a company that claims to have great customer service and exceptionally professional staff when in reality they have given us horrible service and damaged our home. The person at Get Movers who we dealt with is Victor Kerr, who didn't care at all about us and treated us with contempt.

So the so called management or someone fr the company told me to call and they will make it right... That was a joke. Victor is the most ignorant person I've ever spoke to... Told me it's all about money I mentioned it's about principal told me he doesn't know what that means... AVOID AT ANY COST.. YOU WILL THANK ME LATER...

Terrible experience

Terrible experience! I used Get movers a month ago and it has been a month that I have been following up to get back my two electronic desk feet that they lost! Now after over a month of talking to their customer service, they didn’t make it right!!! Not responsible and not reliable movers at all !!!

Absolute Nightmare

We hired GetMovers Burlington for our recent move and it was the most horrendous experience. They never showed up! We had arranged a start time of 10am and at 1020, they called to say the truck was broken and they won't be coming until 130. We suggested that they find another truck (what kind of company only has one truck?). I received another call around 1130 asking if we could pay by cash. When I said no, he asked me "why not?". Wildly inappropriate and they hadn't even shown up yet! They called again at 1230 and said they weren't coming at all. We told them that was unacceptable and offered to rent a uhaul ourselves and asked them to just send their team. No one tried to problem solve with us. We received another call saying they had gotten a team and they would be there at 330. At 330, they called and said now it would be 430. By this time, it's 430 on a Saturday and we decided to cut our loses because it clearly wasn't happening. We had to rent a uhaul ourselves and call friends and family to come and assist.

As if that wasn't enough, I then had to chase down the deposit I gave them to secure our moving date. I called them for 4 days straight and only once I said I was calling the police did they give me my money back.

This company is a SCAM. DO NOT HIRE THEM!

Nightmare to use their service

Copying my email complaint to give you full idea about my review:

Dear Officer,
I hope this email finds you well.
I am writing this email to get compensation for Mental & Physical Harassment given by Get Movers to me, my wife and my 2 young daughters ages 7 and 4.

- I request for at least $10,000 as compensation for the harassment & stress they have given to my family and especially my young kids on a new place. We have been experiencing sleepless nights & our work suffered a lot in last 1 month due to this company. Which is a direct monetary loss to my family.

- I request to instruct this company to deliver my items as soon as possible.

- I also request to penalize this company for whatever they have done with my family so that they don't dare to repeat such things in the future.

I booked their service to shift my personal items from Edmonton, AB to Brentwood Bay, BC as I was shifting here for my wife's job. This Company promised to deliver my stuff from 3 to 21 days from the date of pickup which is clearly mentioned in their email (Attached Full Conversation PDF - check page 2). Read this complete Email conversation to get an idea about their conduct.
There was no point in buying my stuff again when I am paying so much to this company to deliver the same stuff. Due to their delay, they forced me to buy many items when they didn't deliver items and didn't give me any reply to my emails to get any update about the transportation. We never knew that a company with 4.6* rating on Google can give us a nightmare & can be so irresponsible and emotionless.
I have faced so many issues with GetMovers since beginning, like -
Delayed Service - Today, 31 days are over and I haven't got my delivery even after their commitment to deliver stuff between 3 to 21 days from the date of pickup. I am living in a new place without my mattresses and other essential stuff for past 31 days. I never knew that 3-21 days means after 31 days.Highly Unresponsive - I am emailing them and not getting any update on the delivery. They don't even know where is my stuff or they don't wanna share it. They don't even reply to email. (Check Full email conversation to get an idea about it). When I called them after 10 days the lady on call said that call after 21 days and she can't give any update before 21 days. They haven't shared the location of my stuff even after 31 days but they sent me the full bill to schedule my delivery. I didn't get any response after that about the location of my stuff as they didn't clear neither on email or on call. Blackmailers - Even after the finalization of quote with them in writing & after advance payment, they said that I need to pay $100 extra for the Ferry. They told me that if I don't agree with the increased fee then they will refund the advance and I need to find a new service. Just a day before the pickup date, they blackmailed me to agree to pay extra money beyond our contract by threatening me to Cancel the service and even after taking advance payment. This is just one-sided contract that clients are bound to honour & this company can dishonour anytime. I don't know how companies get these types of guts to loot clients this way.Overall, it is the worst experience till now and I don't know if they will deliver the stuff or not. I don't even know when they will deliver the stuff. Biggest Moving Nightmare of my life!

I want to preface this by saying this experience with Get Movers should be called Get Another Company. This company has made me physically ill with an arthritic flare and caused me post-traumatic stress. Me and my family moved on April 1st, 2023, literally down the street from our old house, everything was packed labeled, and ready to go, this should have been the easiest move of our lives, but instead, the price was hundreds more than what was quoted. When we arrived at our new address before signing our signature on the final amount we called get movers to talk to Sam whom I was in contact with before, he cowardly would not answer the phone or call me back and I was hung up on a good 10 times while time was wasting away, me and my family felt very uncomfortable and would have appreciated talking to someone from the office who knew what the hell was going on to discuss why the price was hundreds more than what it was supposed to be before signing. Long story short I started arguing with the guy I became visibly upset, timed wasted away trying to contact someone at the office the only thing unloaded was my dog’s crate which was thrown like a piece of garbage in our garage, they closed the door to their truck and literally stole our whole house of furniture and belongings as a tactic to get us to pay more then the amount we were quoted, mind you we were not refusing to pay at all we were wondering why the quote was hundreds of dollars higher than it should have been. The Barrie Police were called who then contacted get movers the truck came back, and for the nightmare to end we signed and paid for it to all be over. The mover was rude and made it known they were working half an hour for free. Our boxes were thrown everywhere in the garage, we’ve never experienced such slow movers in our entire lives. My mother is a single parent and me and my brother have physical disabilities so when you’re forking out money by the hour and movers are dragging their feet purposely it’s upsetting. Were not alone as the police were involved a few months prior with another customer who left a review very similar to ours you guessed it the perpetrator get movers. The only furniture assembled was our beds all our other furniture was left as you see it in the photos. I have left a complaint with pictures and thorough detail, but no one has contacted me, and I don’t think they ever will. At the end of the day, we paid a company $1,426 to not even assemble our furniture and to throw things labeled kitchen in the back of our garage so that we would have to carry everything back inside. I had to move furniture with my 60-year-old mother, and my brother has early-onset Parkinson’s disease, so what choice did I have? What did we even pay for? I was sent into a flare for the next month as I was finishing school where my grade was reliant on my keyboarding and my hands the after-effects were more than just the way the place was left and the way we were treated by get movers. We found out on the day of the move the movers came from Toronto they are a contracting company accountable to no one. They do not have a location in Barrie, no logo on their truck their number comes up as spam and the United States. My first sign should have been when I asked where they were located Sam stalled for three minutes before telling me an address that is no longer available on Google. I would never recommend anyone going with this company their website is a lie, they are not based in Barrie, where’s your address? what are you hiding? this company is deceitful, they make you feel like they are the best company with the fastest movers and are polite as can be until you end up in a situation such as ours and crickets, no answer no follow-up, no phone call, nothing. Save yourself from mental, physical, and emotional anguish. Our leather couches were scratched, and a 200-pound heavy mirror is still upside down against a window of all places. We now must find and pay someone to assemble our mirror which has now cracked the mirror behind it.
