Coles Breach.

I purchased 2 packs of mousetraps containing 2 mousetraps in each pack from Coles on special @ 10.00 each.
Two worked. Two didnot.I binned them.

I purchased 1 pack containing 2 mousetraps @ 13.00.
Neither mousetraps would set and donot work.

This was the last straw!
I contacted Coles. They said they have introduced a 14-day policy for refunds and returns.

My issue is that:

I wrote the purchase made 29 Jan off (as I have done with most Coles' failures over the years).

My purchase on 5 March 2026 is well within their 14-day policy.
Coles humilated me further by refusing to refund me and this is demoralising as well as financially disabling.
Absolutely no ethics, and no regard for the shopper or consumer rights.

Take the money and run. This is the last straw. There are laws to address this.

Shopper beware.

"undersold" & not purchased for all…

"undersold" & not purchased for all uses as intended. egift card for "myers group" not as described. cavates employed. this is covid norwegiam air tactics and they went bankrupt. telephone conversation wasted companys time & money checking on their website on the other end of a telephone for "the customer". asked for an apology. none was coming. "telephone conversation recorded". not happy. the lack of transparency is beyond a joke

DON’T buy EFTPOS gift cards at Coles

If anyone is considering buying EFTPOS gift cards from Coles, I can’t say DON’T DO IT strongly enough.
I bought 5 cards at our local Coles as Christmas gifts and so far 2 have proved faulty and can’t be used.
When I went to the Customer Service desk at the supermarket for help I was told nobody there was able to help and I needed to call the Customer Care number.
Since then I have been getting the run around. The person on the Customer Care line said they couldn’t help, I needed to send an email with photos of the cards and the receipts to a generic “Contact Us” email address. Since then I have had two more emails asking redundant questions, wanting photos of the packaging, more photos of the cards and so on and so on. I am awaiting whatever the next email will be and what it will be asking for.
It feels like stalling and delay tactics as they could have asked for everything they required at the start, not bit by bit as we go through the process.
If you want to give a voucher to someone, do yourself a favour and give them the cash instead (and save the $5.95 admin charge for which you get nothing) or buy a more reliable gift cards from another meechant.

Rude staff/poor customer service


Subject: Disappointing Experience at Coles Kwinana

I am writing to express my disappointment regarding an unpleasant experience I had today at your Coles Kwinana store.
As I approached the counter where a staff member was preparing flatbread wraps, she hastily gestured with her hands, indicating “no.” I then politely asked, “What time will these be ready?” to which she abruptly replied, “I cannot hear you.” After repeating my question more loudly, she responded curtly, “In 15 minutes.”
I was taken aback by the tone and manner of her response. The staff member, named Jojo, did not offer any apology or acknowledgment when I raised my concern about her impolite behaviour.
I have always chosen Coles as my preferred supermarket due to its quality products and excellent customer service. However, this encounter was disappointing and not reflective of the high standards I have come to expect from Coles.
I trust that this matter will be addressed appropriately to ensure such behaviour does not recur.

Extremely Disappointed
Extremely Disappointed – Still No Replacement After 2 Months
I purchased a prepaid Mastercard from giftcards.com.au back in June, and the experience has been nothing short of frustrating. As soon as I opened the link to activate and use the card, it showed as invalid.
I contacted their customer support right away, and they told me a replacement would be issued — but that it would take 30 days. I followed up on day 25, only to be told it wasn’t ready and I’d need to wait the full 30 days.
I waited two months, and still heard nothing. When I called again, I was shocked to be told they hadn’t done anything and that I’d need to call back again in 10 more days. No follow-up, no proper explanation — just delay after delay.
This is a complete waste of my time. I’m extremely disappointed with the lack of accountability and poor service. What should have been a simple process has turned into an endless back-and-forth. Absolutely unacceptable.

I have tried emailing, no response for the past 3 months.
I called in again, they told me to wait for another 30 days. They completely denied they said 10 days previously and said their timeframe for processing is 30 days. It's another 30 days! I've waited 3 months for a gift card that I can't use. I did not do anything wrong.

UNBELIEVABLE!!!!

Coles has the worst customer service

Coles has the worst customer service. I live in Penrith and normally shop at Coles nepenthes Village. Some of their staff are very rude. And sometimes aggressive,. They do not help customers to resolve their issues with the products. Not recommended.

Always Very rude staff at Coles Orana

Very rude staff at Coles Orana. Wait at the counter to get served. Staff see you then wander off to do something else. In the end your left standing there wondering what's going on. I have written to Coles on numerous occasions regarding the customer comes last policy and have to this date never even received a reply let alone apology.
The real kick in the teeth is the exceptional customer service award they display. And the rudest staff member of the lot was also awarded a customer service award. Clearly awarded for ignoring the customers and for making jokes when a complaint is made. I no longer shop at Coles Orana

Dont buy the ColesMyer Debit master…

Dont buy the Coles Myer debit master card! Bought a $250 to give as a present. Declined at all shops used.
Tried to check balance 3 times site always down (have screen shots). Tried calling support number (australian landline number no one answered) and message said sevice not able to take any messages.

Bought some coles Christmas rum mince…

Bought some coles Christmas rum mince pies to find next day when I came to open them they were out of date. Spoke to store manager and after a long time holding on while she sent some poor member of staff up and down stairs she replied the member of staff was new and put the wrong date on fetch them back and we will refund your money which I did and for my trouble all I received was a sorry and a refund. This week I purchased some more checking the date of course . They had a taste of rum but the contents was chewy and the pastry soggy.
For $8.50 NOT WORTH THE. MONEY TIME AND EFFORT.

What a Rip Off!

If I could give zero stars, I would! Was at Coles, Moggill doing my weekly shop. A row of empty checkouts. No staff. And another very long crowded queue of shoppers with full trolleys, many with kids, toddlers, babies, all waiting in line to use the self service machines which aren't designed at all for lots of bags. I found the manager and asked him. Just a young fellow, possibly not a lot of experience. But he said that he'd been told by his manager to shut down all the checkouts so customers could get used to the inevitable, which was self service only at all Coles stores. So basically, we as customers are taking over jobs that used to give young folks a job and work experience, as well as doing unpaid work for Coles. Flabbergasted hardly covers it! Disgusted and disillusioned is probably closer to the mark. I'll be looking elsewhere for my groceries in the future!

Coles Chatswood Chase ignores customer health!

(UPDATE : The antibacterial trolley wipes at the store entrance were missing yet again on my last 2 visits. A Coles Services worker walked past and didn't even look at the sanitsing station. The apathetic, lazy and negligent manager Mann Singh ("Marn") is deliberately putting customers' lives at risk by refusing to properly respond to my countless complaints about this serious health issue.)

The Chatswood Chase Store Manager (Mann: First name, pronounced Marn), the Regional Manager (Sam Ilott) and the State Manager (Ivan Slunjski) all display a complete lack of regard for customers' health. The trolley wipes at the store entrance have been missing more times than I remember, including several times in the last month or so. Despite numerous email requests from me, sent to all 3 above listed managers, this serious problem continues month after month after month with no end in sight.

Additionally, all 3 of them have repeatedly ignored my emails. The blatant rudeness of these people is very disturbing.

This rudeness also applies to emails I have written to them praising some of the helpful staff, including clear requests to pass on my praise to the relevant staff and give them some kind of reward for this.

When I sent one of these emails to Mann a couple of months ago, praising the very helpful Daniel, Mann displayed deliberate passive bullying by deliberately refusing to compliment Daniel despite seeing him many times when they were working at the same time. Can you imagine how bad Daniel felt. How under-appreciated he felt. Mann deliberately subjected Daniel to this hostile treatment every time he saw him. I had to follow this up repeatedly, as I did re another helpful staff member Praveen in 2023. Passive bullying is rightly frowned upon by the National Retail Association, but Mann and the other Coles managers don't give a damn about this. They just continue to treat staff and customers with contempt. And they do this without any remorse after it has been pointed out to them.

Finally for now, I have repeatedly requested that they implement new procedures to ensure the life saving antibacterial trolley wipes are always available. I gave Ivan Slunjski the opportunity to do this recently and told him if he did nor reply to my email and confirm this has been done, by close of business Friday 13 September 2024, I would post this first of numerous online reviews naming and shaming all of them. Of course he totally ignored my email again, hence this first (interim) review.

Coles Veggies & Expired Use-by Dates

I bought one large onion for $1.25 to add to a stew and when I got home I found it was rotten. On returning the onion to the store the next day for exchange, I chose a 1kg bag of onions for $2 ... now wouldn't it have been nice had the store not charged me the difference for the inconvenience, but NO WAY. On another occasion I bought a 250gm pack of baby spinach .. I should have checked the use by date that had expired on the previous day.

I had been a regular Coles customer for the past 16 years, and for the first time I was requested by staff at the checkout to have a supervisor check my bag to which I readily agreed, after which I cancelled the transaction and repurchased the goods at another store. Of course this will have little impact on Coles overall annual profit reported this year to be around 1 billion dollars, undoubtedly achieved through systematic price gouging, thus contributing to rising inflation and hardship for many.

So is it any wonder that some customers resort to stealing when in effect, the company systemically steals from everyone – I site for example current beef prices which for farmers have collapsed by 65% over the past year, a reduction which Coles passes on to its customers at a rate of around 10% - well I guess it keeps their shareholders fat at the expense of struggling home buyers of which I am fortunately not one.

The ACCC has found that Coles Supermarkets Australia Pty Ltd engaged in unconscionable conduct in its dealings with certain suppliers. The Court also ordered Coles pay combined pecuniary penalties of $10 million and costs. Unfortunately in Australia we have little choice as to where we buy our groceries, but there is one supermarket that is "good different" to the afore mentioned bad actor which, if you are not already a fan, I can earnestly recommend.
