Extremely unprofessional. Wrote a note on my packaging essentially calling me wasteful after purchasing 2 items from them. Canceled my subscription and won’t use them again.

Crooks
Crooks. They sign you up for a subscription and won't let you cancel an order they created. I haven't even opened the first box they sent me and they send another one without a reminder like Amazon does it any other reputable company that somewhat cares about their customers.

Grove Collaborative has many products that I buy over and over for my home, my skin, and even my pets! There are some things that I don’t have use for; for instance the baby products, but I’m sure other people likely have use for those. I love the commitment to the environment, sustainability, and quality goods. There is something for everyone and I have not yet been disappointed at all!

They put items in your cart without…
They put items in your cart without asking you and the order process seems intentionally confusing. I put in one order and it said it would be delivered in two months. So I tried to change the order date and ended up with a second order that was almost identical to the first but had other “suggested items” as well. I contacted customer service within 5 minutes but it was a bot that couldn’t do anything but spit out polite apologies. So I emailed customer service and gave up on the chat/phone. The next day they emailed back and said it was too late to cancel but after they shipped it, I could return the unwanted items. Most people shopping a site like this aren’t big fans of shipping returns back as it’s wasteful and even if products are new, they often end up destroyed or thrown away. Then again, most people shopping for eco friendly products probably wouldn’t need a new refillable glass bottle every month either, but guess which item they “suggested” as a subscription? What an incredibly manipulative and dirty way to drive sales. Tricking people into buying unwanted items is not eco friendly and for the premium price for the products, I expect more than a bot for customer service. I’ll probably gift the items and never use grove again. I’ll also tell the people I give the items to stay away from this terrible site and suggest some better alternatives.

It is most likely that those items were added to your cart because of your Product Subscriptions. You can customize the shipping frequency for each product in your subscriptions or remove them completely by clicking the "x" in the top right corner of the product photo. Items in your product subscriptions will be automatically placed in your cart based on those settings. Removing items from your subscription does not remove them from your cart if they have already populated for your next shipment. If we can help adjust the settings on your account or provide any additional help, please reach out to us at support@grove.co.
My free gift was not in my order
On my most recent Grove order they did not include my free gift. I’ve read this has happened to others as well. I contacted Grove and they immediately gave me a one time $10 credit. It was quick and painless and they were very kind!

I loved Grove and the convenience
I loved Grove and the convenience. I unfortunately had to stop my monthly shipment due to job loss and having a very strict budget at the moment. I will join once again when the time is right. All products ever received were amazing quality.

The hand soup as well as the dish soap…
The hand soup as well as the dish soap seemed watered down. No lather. The toilet paper was OK, the roll was firm and did it's job. The tissues how ever were super thick, not soft. Close to tissue paper you wrap with. The room spray smelled lovely. But did nothing to get rid of odors. For the prices I wasn't impressed with the items I ordered.
Also, I found that when I place my first order I was automatically signed up in a VIP program and It is NOT easy to cancel their VIP program. I canceled once when they sent me an email saying they were renewing. But found out later that was not what I was doing. In fact I was canceling an order that GROVE was sending me that they had chosen and I had not even ordered. I received no confirmation to that cancelation. Then I saw a charge of 19.99 for a VIP membership which I never joined (knowingly). I went onto the site and after 30 mins hunting a way to cancel this I hopefully found it. Again NO email confirmation. I am very disappointed with the company and what seems to be very sneaky practices. 😕

I love Grove
I love Grove! The convenience of home delivery of environmentally safe, low or no plastic products cannot be beat. The variety of items that can be purchased is very impressive. The prices are very reasonable and in line with the "regular" stores and i LOVE the notes that come on each shipping box. I highly recommend giving Grove a try.

Environmentally Conscious but Terrible Inventory (Since Before Covid)
I've been using Grove for 2 years now and they're great overall. Their household products especially are generally superb, when you can get them... because they're out of stock, all of the time. (This has been a consistent issue since LONG BEFORE Covid, so I don't expect it to ever change.) Need laundry detergent? Sorry, we just sold out while it was in your cart (every time). Hand soap and fabric softener are often unavailable for weeks and months. (Again, they had the exact same issues pre-pandemic.) When the products you need are backordered, it's not only difficult to reach an order minimum, there's also no reliability in using "subscriptions." I often postpone orders for weeks due to their non-existent inventory, or I end up buying from my local grocery (I shop at Target as little as possible). While I do feel they backtracked on their original plastic-free goals, they are still one of the most plastic-conscious companies out there, and I give them huge props for that; their environmental practices are the primary reason I use them - if they shift focus away from that, I'd say it's not worth the hassles with poor inventory management.
