HCF is there to make a profit
HCF is there to make a profit; their only way to profit is to lean on long-term members and, in exchange, offer the bare minimum at a price that far exceeds other health funds, banking on the hope that NOT too many existing members will leave , thereby reducing profitability
Customer for 21 years
Customer for 21 years, policy is now too expensive, tried to get 8 weeks free like they offer new customers but will not do it, not even 6 weeks or 4 weeks or anything for my loyalty. This is how they reward loyal customers with no discounts at all, so very unhappy will now have to go elsewhere due to them being too expensive compared to other providers.
Excellent customer service
Excellent customer service. Ronda was extremely helpful and made the process so easy for us.
We recently had to contact HCF…
Fantastic experience with Heet!
We recently had to contact HCF regarding our policies and were lucky enough to speak with Heet. He was incredibly helpful, patient, and sorted everything out for us in no time. It’s great to see a health fund that employs such high-quality staff who actually care about their members. Highly recommend!
HCF, ripping off the low and middle income workers
I really dislike companies that aren't upfront about price increases. Everything in the media at the moment states a premium increase of 4.96%. If you go to the website it states an average of 4.96%.
Then you get your policy information and the reality is my premium has gone up 6.2%. Total BS.
As a not for profit organisation, put the range on your website and not provide a vague average amount. Be upfront about it.
HCF is not required to disclose individual executive pay in the same manner as companies like Medibank or NIB, which have their CEO pay disclosed. HCF has previously stated that its remuneration is designed to attract top talent while maintaining a sustainable, market-based framework.
If you've got nothing to hide, how about you disclose that information?
Why don't you attempt to keep your customer base while reducing the salaries of the pencil pushers? I'm struggling to keep my cover as a single parent. So disappointed with your lack of disclosure.
Absolutely terrible extras insurance
Absolutely terrible extras insurance, barely covers anything, you’re better off saving your premium and using that money to pay for things. Did not cover my preventative dental device (night splint) even though I am covered for preventative dental, they just tried to upsell me to top cover and then I would have to wait 12 months to claim. Scam
The staff they are everything Brett…
The staff they are everything Brett and retention team Christie helped me I was stuck across two insurers but needed a cover review. Specialist makes all the difference spent the time needed I will never change again all the gift cards in the world can't make up for he staff HCF are unmatched with their skill and ability in private health in my opinion Brett has restored my faith in cover was really close to quitting as too complicated but he took the time to help me. Amazing team thank you.
Long-term customer with unpleasant experience
A number of incidents which I felt were not communicated well and burried between too many advertising correspondence - if at all communicated.
Leading to loss of eligible claim due to: card not working and/or expiry of such without replacement sent prior to expiry (and card had no expiry date noted), and my child was removed from coverage with no prior warning or correspondence.
Calls lengthy and not helpful.
Disappointed about services overall, after sticking with HCF and paying for decades. Never felt I got good value from fees paid.
Hcf offer absolutely junk insurance
Hcf offer absolutely junk insurance. They don't offer any support and the claims experience is poor. The coverage that they provide is very limited and there always seems to be a reason why something is not covered. I've already submitted a complaint and will likely raise with afca as I know that they won't provide any assistance. They charge me over $200 a month and provide very little in return. I'm better off just saving the money and using it when required. I look forward to their response to my complaint
HCF wouldn’t cover my hospital stay, after paying them top hospital cover for 9 years
After 9 years with HCF gold level hospital cover, I was shocked to discover that they would not cover my hospital stay when I broke my leg. I paid top hospital cover to them for almost a decade, yet when I needed help I was refused private hospital cover. I was shipped off to a small underfunded public hospital in another town - miles away from family and friends - where I had to share a 4 bed room and a bathroom that was used by the entire ward of 20+ patients. That’s not what I was paying top hospital cover for!
Make sure you read the fine print. They are happy to take your money but will swindle you out of your entitlements if they can. You are left trying to deal with them when you are sick and in pain.
The absolute worst health fund I’ve ever been with!
The best
I will tell every one about HCF staff at castle hill they are the absolute best in handling problems specially the the lady who manage the office (Cora and her team they went out of their way to solve the issue i had with another fund
George Touma
Hcf bad experience
I deeply regret choosing HCF as my health insurer. I began paying my membership from 1st August and have already paid two premiums before my card was even activated or I received my membership details. Despite making three separate calls, the issue was never resolved.
What makes it worse is that when I escalated the matter, I was promised a call back from the senior escalation team – which never came. Paying for a service you can’t even access, coupled with poor customer care and broken promises, is completely unacceptable.
If this is the standard of service at the very beginning of the relationship, I dread to imagine what would happen if I ever needed to make a claim. Very disappointing and absolutely not what you’d expect from a major health insurer.
HCF is a Scammer company who direct…
HCF is a Scammer company who direct debits $900 without your approval.
Incredibly unhappy with this unethical company! They direct debited $900 from my account without authorisation and without warning. I did not receive any emails asking if I would like continue my policy and I never authorised them to automatically renew at end of the year. I had not planned for almost $1000 to be taken out of my account and it left me in a difficult financial position.
When I called HCF and spoke with Shaho who was very unhelpful. I requested a refund and he said it would be processed within 5 business days. It is now 9 days later and no money has come through. When I called again they said that Shaho had not processed the refund. It seems I need to wait for another lengthy “processing time” with no date given of when I can expect my refund.
There have been no apologies and no offered of recompense.
At this point, almost a month after the payment was taken out - I still have not received any renewal emails or emails relating to this policy.
I was a loyal customer holding multiple policies with this company, I will be closing all my policies as soon as possible and have already been telling everyone I know how unethical and unprofessional this company is.
If you want to lose almost $1000 at any given moment without notice - go with this company, it seems like this is their forte.
Very poor service
Very poor service, wastage of time, didn't even get 5% compensation total claim on new health conditions rather than existing conditions, firstly they requested you to provide all unnecessary documentation and waste your couple of months and then finally said it's not under our policy so i strongly recommended don't ever go with HCF. Thanks for Reading
Don't buy
Unable to resolve the problem with a few calls and emails alone. No compensation provided for handling this in person.
HCF provides free skin check with no clinic to check
HCF provides free skin check which to be done under their selected clinic as per their website. No clinic available on the the website for selection. Rang 131334, advised me to contact 2 available HCF branches in Adelaide SA. Tried to call the branches, phone rang and no one picked up the phone. Tried HCF online chat, asked me to wait and check for available clinic. There is no available clinic across all states.
I gave up. I don't want to wait. Opted to pay for the skin check with Skin Cancer Centre.
Think twice.
Very poor customer service
I have the Overseas visitor healthcare insurance with HCF. This year when paying for my early membership, I asked for a tax receipt or payment confirmation, as I need to use this so I can expense this to my employer. Here I was told I could call after 2 weeks of the payment to get this.
2 weeks after I contacted them again, but now the message was that they do not provide this at all. Only thing I could do was to copy the statement from my own bank account. Only after talking with 5 different employees, sending several mails, and after doing a simple google search where ATO states that companies are legally obliged to provide tax invoice within 28 days of a purchase they finally send it to me.
Their level of customer service it extremely poor, and only when being persistent they provide me with a simple thing as a tax invoice, which should just be send immediately.
HCF ARE THE WORST
HCF Australia are the worst health care provider in Australia today. Despite their advertising and consistent drumming into you that they care about people, they will consistently try to find cause to decline your cover any way they can.
My wife has been diagnosed with a sinus condition only at the beginning of August, for years, yes she's suffered, but was told it was an infection, provided with antibiotics and no doctor has ever looked into her condition.
Now we finally new what was wrong, and had booked my wife into healthcare, HCF purposely went out of their way to find cause to decline paying for the surgery, only 24 hours before she's due to go under the knife.
At $300.00 plus a fortnight ($600.00 a month) for a COUPLE, without kids, they are expensive, and are not there for you when you need them.
We'd previously been with NIB and AHM and had no issues, from the moment we switched to HCF it's been a nightmare, from coverage to even getting our cards sent to us.
DO NOT GO TO HCF EVER. Do not use them, they are the worst. Any other healthcare provider is better.
$163 per week and still $850 out of pocket for glasses
I pay $163 per week for cover for my husband and myself. I've just found out that I'm not even covered for glasses, optical and dentists are extra! I went online to.do a new quote and it wasn't even an option to not do hospital cover.
Also why does Lifetime Cover Levy exist when you are penalised by the government at tax time for not having private health? And then penalised again by the company when you do take out the cover? That is double dipping. At this point it's easier and cheaper to just pay out of pocket and stay public. What you pay in taxes and out of pocket plus insurance premiums, just simply skip paying premiums to a company that doesn't cover you for actual stuff you're likely to use.
