I cannot recommend Hodge Jones & Allen Solicitors highly enough for the way they handled my clinical negligence claim. From the outset, the team combined deep expertise with genuine care, making a complex and often stressful process feel structured, manageable, and well supported. Communication was consistently excellent — emails and calls were returned promptly, I was kept informed at each stage, and everything was explained in clear, practical terms so I always understood the position and the next steps.

The lead solicitor, Dawn Treloar, was outstanding: meticulous on the detail, strategically sharp, and calm in their guidance. They were proactive in progressing the matter, realistic and transparent about timings and risks, and they showed real attentiveness to what I needed as a client. We went to this firm on the recommendation of a criminal barrister friend of ours. We were referred to Michael Ackah and he called us back very quickly and went into a really helpful amount of detail. He was not only well informed and clearly had strong expertise but additionally was thoughtful and kind in his approach which really meant a lot as obviously these sorts of things can be very stressful! He always came back to us very promptly and really went above and beyond in terms of the detail and timeliness of his support.

HJA are a long established firm of solicitors, and had provided assistance over many years for my late parents. They were named as joint executor on my father’s will, and as such they prepared, on my behalf, the application to HMRC for the Grant of Probate. The partner at HJA with whom I worked, was Sarah Conner, and I am delighted to recommend her. She was friendly, personable, and very knowledgeable about the entire process. It was a relief to know that I was in such experienced hands and that she was taking care of the huge administrative burden efficiently and competently. I found it particularly reassuring knowing that I could trust HJA and Sarah, to ensure that my application would be in full compliance of, what were at times, rather complicated HMRC rules.

I live in the USA, which added a layer of complexity regarding additional tax requirements. Whenever I had questions (and I had a lot), Sarah was patient in explaining the process and providing guidance. When in doubt, (rarely), she was prompt and resourceful in seeking additional input, for example setting up a consultation with a London based firm specializing in US/UK taxes to provide specific advice. All very helpful!
