I bought a Mercedes EQA from HPL Stockport last week and the experience from start to finish was excellent. The aftercare is also brilliant, as I emailed them this morning with a question and received a response with in 5 minutes. I would highly recommend this company.

I had been looking for a certain car for a long time. I saw one advertised at HPL Barnsley. As a new showroom in the area I was sceptical, but went along to have a look. The car was everything I expected it to be.
Unfortunately the site was busy and I could not get anyones attention, so disappointed I left.
I returned the next day and was immediately acknowleged by JOSH, who was happy to let me look around the vehicle, and took me for a test drive.
On returning from the drive, I noticed a mark on the passenger door, which i could not work out if it was a mark or a scratch - Josh took it to the workshop and 5 minutes later, no mark!
I was satisfied and opted to buy the car. Josh made the coffee's (appreciated) and we commenced with the paperwork. Despite being a cash sale Josh talked through all the optional additional options, which I did not wish to purchase, and accepted my refusal (another plus point).
The car would be ready by Wednesday, but I requested to collect on the Sunday, again which was accepted.
As I was going to be transferring my private plate, Josh offered to put me a set of number plates together, ready for the exchange of plates.
I collected my car, which I am very happy with, and after a few hanshakes we were on our way.
Three days later Josh called and checked we were still happy with the car, and had remembered he was going to do my number plates ( I too had forgotten about them) He told me I could call in as they would be ready within yhe hour. I now have them!!!
I have to say it was an absolute pleasure doing business with HPL, and in Particular with Josh, an amazing, helpful guy, who knew exactly what we wanyted, and indeed what we didn't - an absolute credit to HPL, and although I am sure other Salespersons are good, I highly recommend you ask for Josh (If Carlsberg made Salesmen!!!!!!!) Thanks guys, see you again some day!!!

My experience with HPL started off rocky. The first car I received had problems, and I had to raise a complaint to get things moving. Communication wasn’t great at the beginning, and it took some persistence to get the issue properly addressed.However, once the matter reached salesperson Allan and manager Simon Taylor, things changed. They took ownership of the situation, resolved the problem, and helped me into a newer car with zero issues — exactly what I wanted from the start.
The car I have now drives perfectly, and I’m genuinely happy with it. After everything was sorted, I was even invited to attend car shows, which was a nice gesture and showed they valued keeping the relationship positive.Overall, despite the difficult beginning, the final outcome was very good, and the team made sure I left satisfied.

The process of buying my new car was initially very smooth, and I was happy with how everything went at the time. Unfortunately, the experience has changed significantly since then.

After part-exchanging my previous car with HPL Motors, I received a toll charge for a road halfway across the country that I have never driven on. The charge relates to a date well after I had handed the vehicle over, which suggests the necessary ownership/keeper details were not dealt with correctly when the car was part-exchanged.

Since receiving the notice, I have had to try and resolve the issue myself with the toll company, involving long waiting times and repeated phone calls. I have also contacted HPL Motors at least four times, repeatedly chasing them for a call back and support, with very little assistance.

What should have been a straightforward process has instead left me in a very stressful and frustrating position, having to deal with a problem that I believe should have been prevented or dealt with by the dealership when the vehicle was handed over.

Buying a new car is a significant life change and a major financial commitment, so I expected much better aftercare and support when something went wrong. Unfortunately, based on my experience, I would not recommend HPL Motors. The initial buying experience may have been smooth, but the lack of support afterwards has been extremely disappointing.

Not welcoming whole process too time consuming felt like wasted alot of time. Gave me prices for finance but wouldn't give me detailed breakdown so I could make informed decision.

dealt with Sara at HPL Preston from initial phone call enquiry through to completion. She was really helpful and made a daunting experience a pleasant one. Had to take the car back in to fix a rattle noise, but this was all dealt with easily with a courtesy car provided and fixed in a day. Great experience from the sales and service team.

Craig was a star as usual. Very friendly and thorough. Such an easy process. Car is like new and shining lime a star. I'll be coming back when it's time for my next car.

An absolutely appalling experience, I would strongly advise people to think twice before buying from this dealership.

What started as buying a relatively expensive used car turned into months of frustration, repeated faults, repeated attempts at repair and an endless battle to get a straightforward resolution.

The most infuriating part is how long everything has been dragged out. Despite being without the use of the vehicle for months, I was still expected to continue making the finance payments while having no usable car. At every stage, getting clear answers and resolving the situation seemed to be made unnecessarily difficult.

I was specifically told that the vehicle would receive a full replacement transmission. Yet when I eventually obtained the paperwork, I discovered that the work actually carried out was only the replacement of the clutch and flywheel. Those are not the same thing. What makes this even more concerning is that my emails requesting copies of the paperwork were ignored on numerous occasions, and it was only after I made it clear that I was exercising my right to reject the vehicle that I finally obtained the documentation.

That level of communication and transparency is simply unacceptable.

There are also serious questions around the dealership's claim that 128 checks were carried out on the vehicle. The car was supplied to me with repeated TPMS sensor warnings. I subsequently returned the vehicle because of these warnings and was told they had been checked, yet three of the wheels had nails in the tyres. If a vehicle is returned to a garage specifically because of repeated tyre-pressure monitoring warnings, surely identifying the cause of those warnings should be one of the most basic parts of the inspection. How can three punctured tyres have apparently been missed? It certainly raises questions about what those 128 checks actually consisted of.

During one of the many occasions the vehicle was returned to the dealership for repair, I was provided with a courtesy car. You would think that the most basic checks would have been carried out before handing it over to a customer. Apparently not, the courtesy car didn't even have valid road tax. How a dealership can provide a customer with a vehicle that isn't legally taxed is beyond me.

The sheer amount of time, inconvenience and stress this has caused has been ridiculous. I bought a car expecting to be able to use it, not spend months dealing with repeated faults, returning it for repair, chasing paperwork and ultimately having to fight to get a resolution, all while continuing to pay the finance on a vehicle I couldn't use.

Ultimately, after months of trying to resolve the matter directly, I was left with no choice but to escalate my complaint to the Financial Ombudsman Service. The fact that the situation had to reach that stage simply to have the matter independently considered says a great deal about how poorly the whole situation was handled.

The most disappointing thing is that none of this needed to become such a drawn-out ordeal. Had the issues been dealt with properly, honestly and promptly in the first place, much of this could have been avoided.

Instead, I was left with the distinct impression that the matter was being deliberately dragged out in the hope that the ongoing delays, inconvenience and financial pressure would eventually force me into accepting the vehicle rather than continuing to pursue a rejection.

I would urge anyone considering buying from this dealership to do their homework, get absolutely everything in writing and don't simply rely on verbal assurances about what work is going to be carried out.

An incredibly frustrating experience from start to finish and certainly not an experience that has left me with any confidence in this dealership.
