Greedy house
I actually transferred to Hungry house after Just eat started charging an admin fee for cash purchases (even though they make most of their high income from the restaurants). Hungry house's statement read that they would never charge you more than the restaurant would charge normally. They lied! They now charge the same 50p as Just eat. The fact that Just eat bought Hungry house has no relevance to me whatsoever. A lie is a lie.
It is so easy to contact my local restaurants directly and that is what I have started doing again. Back to paper menus!! It means a phone call instead of ordering online - not really a hassle, let’s be honest. It saves them (the restaurants) and me money. Cut out the greedy middle men.
Just eats profits are obscene and frankly their greed for even more will with any luck be their undoing.

Food almost an hour later than suggested ...
Ordered food at 6.50pm and expected by 7.35pm by 8pm nothing had arrived so went back to app and had a banner saying delivery by 8.20pm... no text nothing else. Pretty crap when you are waiting for your dinner. Delivery times are a mess and other operators while more expensive are quick. Not sure I’d use again and with 50p (old cc charge), now a service charge, it’s probably best to order direct with restaurant and maybe even quicker.

Placed an order from Hungry house at 15:16 to Chick chicken restaurant. Informed it will be delivered at 16:08 by 16:50 nothing was delivered called restaurant and informed that order was not received from Hungry House. My money was already taken from my account.called Hungry house and there was no apology or explanation why the restaurant had not received the order. ??? What poor customer service and would never use this service again and want to warn others.
Awaiting my refund???????

Elderly mother's birthday, first time of asking of HungryHouse. Payment declined, on a perfectly good credit card balance.
The restaurant concerned still managed to provide food (at a discount), when contacted over the 'phone.

Waited 1 hour and 40 minutes for food
Waited 1 hour and 40 minutes for food. It was 40 minutes after estimated delivery time. I complained and got no apology. Part of the order was wrong, perhaps not their fault but again I complained and got no response.... and it was 15 minutes wait time to complain. Shocking service, shocking customer service.

Disgusting customer service skills
Waited an hour after the estimated delivery time, then contacted customer services, spoke to a very unpleasant female called "Isabella" who brushed off my request for a refund and just kept telling me to wait for it to arrive and how I need to be more patient (even though I already waited an extra hour). She eventually hung up. So I called back and was put through to a nicer person who cancelled the order and refunded me straight away.
Food poisoned, hungry house did nothing
Without a doubt the worst experience ive ever experienced when it comes to food.
Ending in food poisoning for both myself and my wife. Hungry Houses resolution? To call the store and ask if the food was fresh, obviously the store will say yes. That was it, the resolution was done.
Told me to go to the Food Hygiene government body, which of course I will but at the same I've spent £20 to essentially poison my family.
I urge all of you, please don't use this horrendous service.

As you can see from the message below, Hungry house have asked me to email them, I responded to that email literally moments after they posted this question.
I have not had a single response or anyone contact me, this company doesn't fully check who they partner with. They do not work to resolve issues and when a fairly major issue appears they sweep it under the rug.
I urge you all once more to please be careful who you order with, as Hungry House will not help you if it leads to your ill health.

I agree with all other reviews on here. Hungryhouse sold out to justeat and now, despite legislation to the contrary, we are yet again faced with an extra charge to order via this app/company.
If we all vote with our cards and go directly to the restaurants companies like this will go out of business and restaurants will have to provide a better service for their customers.
Vote with your cards people, don't get ripped off

RIP OFF SERVICE CHARGE.
Been a just eat customer for years. Started using my hungry house account more as they started charging 50p for every order in order to dodge the EU Ban. Now Hungry House has followed suit. Guess its back to just ringing takeaway again and paying cash on delivery. Only costs 3p a min to ring them. Not paying 50p for you to relay an order when it costs me less to pick up the phone and do it myself. Its rediculous having to pay an extra 50p, even when you pay by cash. ACCOUNT DELETED. You can keep harping on about how every customer is charged equally and all that tripe about it being used to improve services. But before the EU ban came into effect you all charged 50p to take card payments. Now you think just by calling it a "Service Charge" after the ban came into effect, that people dont realise what your up to? You must think were all stupid. Anyhow, fairwell. And goodbye.

Added comments: Hungry house decided to flag this review as incomplete. I think I was quite clear in that I used this company for many years along side just-eat, and I was happy with hungry houses service up until the two companies merged and decided to rip off all customers with the 50p service charge. For this reason alone I have now closed both accounts, and shifted my business direct to the restaurants themselves. I only decided to leave after I realised hungry house had started charging the service charge after I placed an order with them on the date I wrote this review.
Here is a comparison of orders with the same restaurant, one shortly after the law change, and then when the new policy change came in to effect.

The whole point about the change in legislation was that companies were no longer allowed to charge a fee to process card payments. Therefore, if a company changes their policy and decides to re-brand it as a service charge, charging all their customers a fee. Either on or shortly after the law changes, then it can be reasonably said that the company has simply decided to keep charging the fee but has disguised it as something else in order to circumvent the law. If a customer then goes on to disagree with a policy change a company makes, and it's glaringly obvious the reason why. Then the customer then decides to leave the company and leave a review to that effect. Then that is within the rights of the individual to pass along their experience to others. I hope this clarifies matters. Bottom line is, the company charged 50p to process card payments, when the law changed they started charging all customers 50p, I don't think the company can continue to play innocent when it's so glaringly obvious that the policy change was prompted by the law change. Which I totally disagree with. Sincerely, Graham.

Fraudulent transaction from my Paypal account
My paypal account details were stolen and used to place an order with Hungry House. I immediately contacted customer services when receiving a transaction receipt and they were next to useless.
Their system didn't flag up this fraudulent order despite there being glaring red flags - delivery was apparently to a block of flats and the instructions "text on arrival" so just about anyone could have collected the order. Their system also said the address that the order was supposed to go to was verified as my paypal address - absolute rubbish. The address on my Paypal is nowhere near the address where delivery was sent to - it is in a totally different part of the country. Surely their system should red flag orders like this.
They told me I had to open a dispute with Paypal to recover my stolen money - I have opened a dispute and it is now waiting for Hungry House to supply requested information. I am £33.80 out of pocket now because their system seems to allow fraudulent orders to be placed.

I have used hungryhouse a few times but the app will now be deleted
1. When ordering state delivery time which always changes once payment made
2. Alterations to order via the note system does not work - restaurant/takeaways need to be shown how to read the orders
3. I was delivered incorrectly and late and then I was bounced between customer service and the restaurant- that’s not how I expect to spend my evening
Order direct do not use hungryhouse. Customer service is substandard, the charge fees all over the place

Generally good. But won’t use them anymore now they’ve introduced the rip off 50p stealth charge on the back of card payment charges being made illegal.
I only use two take aways, so will phone them direct from now on.

Terrible service
Terrible service. Cold food delivered. When I complained they say they can’t refund unless I return the cold food. I’d thrown it in the bin. I asked what else can you do then. Their ONLY option was to say “complete a review”. That was just copy and paste text. I said what can you do, what’s the point of the customer service. They said they can do nothing. Deleted the app.

Paid, cancelled, now 3-5 days for refund!
Ordered dinner knowing that the estimated delivery time would be an hour. Once the order had been paid for and accepted, the estimated delivery time changed to to 1 hour 35 minutes. That was not acceptable. I phoned and cancelled the order which all went fine but now i have to wait 3-5 days for the money to be put back into my account. This is really not acceptable
. 1. The delivery time should not change after the order has been placed
2. the refund should be instant. if you can take the cash instantly, you should give it back instantly. I shouldn't be out of pocket for 3-5 days because you changed our contract on delivery !

Worst customer service experience.
Worst customer service experience.
I placed an order in mid-December which arrived two and a half hours late. I complained using the Resolver website the very next day and requested a full refund, hoping for at least a refund of sorts. I have chased them constantly since, having heard little in return. Today I chase this up again with Hungry House as my case with Resolver had been "escalated" to the highest point, and there has still been no resolution or offer of a refund. A representative from Hungry House today tells me I did not complain early enough and the best they can offer me is £5 credit?! I complained the day after this happened and have sent around 6 emails on the case since. Shambolic.
£30 down the drain, late food, crap food, and an appalling customer service team that seems to hope that in acting as incompetently as possible, the rightfully disgruntled and ripped off customer will cease complaining and Hungry House will still cash in.

Tried to order a Chinese takeaway
Tried to order a Chinese takeaway, thought I had placed my order, waited an hour and a half, then rang the restaurant who said they had not received my order. I was about to order over the phone but they hung up on me. I rang Hungry House only to be told that the website had probably crashed as that has been happening a lot recently. Very helpful. Will never be using the website again.
