Superb Company, Top CS!

I have been an IDNet customer for so long, I can't remember. Definitely more than 15 years. What makes them stand out IMO is their Customer Service and pure reliability. I have in all that time had a few outages, this is nothing unusual in the world of telephony but I can guarantee that if I pick the phone up, my call will be answered immediately or if I send an email it will be answered immediately. If it is a problem that IDNet can sort out themselves without involving BT Wholesale, they will action it immediately. This was not my experience with previous broadband companies so I will remain a customer of IDNet indefinitely. I don't even look at prices elsewhere, I don't know if I could get cheaper elsewhere nor do I care. I wish other organisations, not just broadband companies, would take a leaf out their book....

I signed up with IDNet for full fibre…

I signed up with IDNet for full fibre after being told it was available. I paid upfront, received confirmation, and was even given expected go-live dates. Those dates came and went with no service and no communication.
You’re left completely in the dark with no updates and no clear timeline for when (or if) your full fibre will actually go live.
I emailed IDNet simply asking when my full fibre would be installed and explained that I might have to cancel if it wasn’t completed within a reasonable timeframe. Instead of providing information or reassurance, they immediately cancelled my order.
Is this really all it takes to upset IDNet? If raising a reasonable concern results in an instant cancellation, that says a lot about how they treat customers.
Based on my experience, IDNet is one of the worst providers to deal with for full fibre. Poor communication, missed deadlines, and zero tolerance for customers asking valid questions. I would not recommend them.

Dear Mark,

We do understand how disappointing it can be to have an order cancelled though it does come as a surprise to receive such a negative and inaccurate review - we appreciate the opportunity to review the case and provide clarity on the circumstances.

Your order was placed on 20/10/2025 with the clear understanding that we would contact you with a confirmed installation appointment and any updates as soon as they were provided by the supplier.

In the interim, all orders are monitored daily for any status changes or updates from the supplier.

You contacted us on Sunday 26th October requesting an update. As our mailbox is monitored during standard business hours, this was picked up on Monday 27th October. At 10:57am that morning, we received the following automated update from the supplier:

'2025-10-27 10:57:05.604 – Field Update – Order Status: Cancelled (Sub-type: Provide New)'

We immediately contacted the supplier for clarification and were advised that the local serving infrastructure had not yet been built. The supplier also confirmed that the property had been incorrectly marked as “Ready for Service” and that the order had therefore been automatically cancelled by them.

We responded to you at 11:03am the same morning, providing this information and confirming that a full refund had been arranged.

We do acknowledge that a courtesy email prior to 27th October, simply to reassure you that we were continuing to monitor the order despite there being no new update, would have been beneficial. This has been taken on board and shared with the team.

That said, we are confident that clear and timely information was provided throughout, and that expectations were appropriately managed. This is demonstrated by the swift communication sent immediately following notification from the supplier.

For completeness, we clearly explained that the cancellation was initiated by the supplier and the reason for it:

“Unfortunately, after speaking with suppliers, I have been advised that your order has been cancelled as the required infrastructure has not yet been built. A refund has been issued and please accept our apologies for this.”

To infer that we cancelled your order due to being questioned or that we gave 'Poor communication, missed deadlines, and zero tolerance for customers asking valid questions' is completely unwarranted on this occasion.

They're OK

They're OK ~ but they, like all sub-millennial outfits, need to think much more carefully about what and how they communicate with actual people. Also : I'll admit I've not done market research (since being 'recommended' by my old supplier to switch to them, on his retirment) but the prices have only gone one way. The switch-off of 'traditional' telephone lines is of particular CONCERN to me as a pensioner. We already know the 'ead long rush to all things digital is surveillance / exclusion crap.

Always on, dependable, dedicated.

I've been a customer since 2017, and in those 8 years, I think I've only needed to contact IDNet twice regarding connection issues...TWICE. The service has been, and still is as guaranteed as turning on a tap in your home and water appears. I'm now on FTTP and experiencing speeds I never knew were possible where I live, but this comes with my reasoning for 1 point off this time.

Over the course of a few weeks I notice that I 'lose' speed, up to 50% (ironically it's still 5 times faster than I had before FTTP) but it's not what I'm paying for. I will caveat this by also adding my router could be at fault as when I reboot it, the connection speed normally recovers. Slightly inconvenient, so 4/5

Very good ISP.

Only ever had to ring the helpline once - my fault but they were superb.
Service never goes down.

Over 20 years with ID NET

I’ve been with IDNET for over 20 years, and they continue to be one of the most reliable companies I’ve ever used. In all that time, outages have been extremely rare, speeds have consistently been excellent, and their customer support is outstanding — always helpful, knowledgeable, and quick to respond.

It’s reassuring to have an internet provider that’s dependable year after year. I highly recommend IDNET to anyone looking for a stable, trustworthy service with first-class support.

One of the best broadband providers

The best feature of iDNET is its team of helpers who will respond to telephone queries within one minute normally. Just as important, the broadband service is competitive in speed also consistent and dependable. These are the main reasons I have stayed with it for 15 years.
I believe it has taken on VoIP services relatively recently and that included me. After some teething troubles my VoIP service works well. Though even now my old analogue phone with a bell does not ring . I have had to add a ringer to the circuit. This seems a common problem across all providers.
