I always wanted to play boogie woogie on the piano . Watching clips on youtube or buying books on how to play , but it never really helped me until I met Jonah and started playing with him. He helped me a lot getting through the basics and now I am able to play some basic grooves .The lessons are always pleasant and adapted to your level and if you have any problems or questions he is ready to help you.Great teacher and I would certainly recommend him to anyone wanting to play boogiewoogie on the piano.

Jonah Schwickert’s Boogie Woogie Mastery is a comprehensive, step by step guide that is informative and very well organized. Jonah has an enthusiastic way of presenting the lessons and he is very encouraging, especially with older people and those who may have not played the piano for some time. He is constantly updating and refining content.
I would recommend this course to anyone with an interest in rediscovering a love of piano through some joyous and fun music.

I was a complete beginner with no path to success; until I found Jonah's program. I was flailing around YouTube and getting nowhere fast. My experience has been absolutely great! Jonah's passion comes through in every way. The lessons are well thought out and you find yourself progressing quicker than you ever imagined possible. What I really like is the option to self pace with tons of material at your fingertips. There are times when I have a lot of free time and other times when I have none at all. Jonah Schwickert is a professional! He demonstrates excellence in both his playing and teaching. he has developed a crystal-clear, concise training method to teach boogie-woogie piano. Jonah is conscientious, timely, and organized.

I discovered Jonah on YouTube. I had not previously considered boogie-woogie piano; or that it was even something that I could do. But Jonah’s concise style, and his enthusiasm for playing this style of music drew me in.

After learning that boogie-woogie is based on the twelve-bar-blues progression, that it is only played in a few keys, and that the style’s swinging rhythmic ‘engine’ is driven by the left hand (I’m left handed) I thought: “I just might be able to do this.”

I look forward to the in-person (via Zoom) early morning lessons. The weeks between lesson dates just fly-by as I practice all the new-to-me material. I am using sixty-five year old neurons that have been dormant until now. It is an exciting journey.

Jonah's program has changed my piano playing for good! His clear and easy to follow methods, broken down into bite-sized chunks has helped me to understand and practice musical concepts that I'd missed in my previous learning. Having spent time over the past year trying to self teach and learn piano without making much measurable progress and becomimg increasingly frustrated I came across Jonah and his Boogie Mastery courses and videos.
My passion was Boogie Woogie, Melodic Blues and old time Rock.
Jonahs' Boogie Woogie Mastery and his method of teaching was the first time I really could see a potential platform for me and thankfully I decided to give it a go.
The course is totally comprehensive, easy to follow and provides a flexible, enjoyable and understandable pathway to Boogie, Blues and Piano learning.

I am loving the Boogie Woogie Mastery course! This is a great course if you want to learn Boogie Woogie, no matter what piano ability you have.
Jonah is a wonderful teacher, thorough and patient, and very encouraging. He holds two weekly lessons on Zoom. The Boogie Woogie Mastery community is also very inspiring and supportive, again, at all levels.
It makes piano playing fun!

I met the instructor, Jonah Schwickert, through his YouTube videos and then decided to start his "Boogie Woogie Mastery" course system. His energy, his pianistic skill, and the way he breaks down complex learning content into small goals and steps were crucial for me.

I would also like to add that I have a huge library of books, video courses, and online videos on learning blues and boogie woogie. Most of them, especially the YouTube videos, promise a lot but usually only offer the usual: a simple bass line for the left hand, followed by a few licks for the right hand. And these are often taught by non-professionals. When questions arise while practicing, the only option is usually the comment function, coupled with the hope of receiving a helpful answer in a timely manner.

In contrast, Jonah offers a complete course system that guides aspiring boogie-woogie players from the basics to advanced levels, while also covering "side topics" like rhythmic exercises. The individual, successive lessons include PDFs with tips and clear homework.

The entire course is embedded in a closed, moderated forum for course participants, who exchange ideas about general questions about piano playing and boogie-woogie playing in particular, as well as their successes and failures. Participants can share feedback, praise, and constructive criticism on their playing in their own videos. Jonah is also present here. He acts as a moderator and can quickly address questions, problems, or successes and failures. This is a huge motivational booster to keep going.

Jonah has put a lot of thought into what Boogie Woogie music is and how to structure a piano course enabling students to make good progress and create their own improvisations.
He begins with a bassline shape and swing rhythm which is repeated over C F and G. Next, a shape is taught in the right hand from which three chords can be made to accentuate rhythm with the right hand. At the same time he shows us ways to get to grips with hand independence.
Throughout the course, common shapes are added to the right hand to create rifs. These repeatable shapes are referred to often and used to create new rifs.
All the video lessons are easy to follow and come with sheet music, notes about the lesson and how to practise.
Group zoom calls are held twice a week to suit different time zones. These are a great time to ask questions, play a piece and get some feedback, etc.

Jonah is my dream Boogie Woogie piano teacher.
He tailors the lessons perfectly to my needs and really guides me on my journey toward my musical goals. The lessons and content are never boring.

The absolute best part is that I always receive my homework in written form, along with a detailed analysis of each lesson. This way, I always have a clear overview of everything I need to practice.

Highly recommended for anyone who wants to feel and learn the energy of Boogie Woogie!

Having taken lessons from other teachers for many years (both in person and online) mainly in classical and jazz, I can confidently say that lessons with Jonah have been the most fun and engaging I've had. Thanks to Jonah’s teaching, I’ve been able to improve quickly in both boogie woogie and blues piano. He does an excellent job of covering the fundamentals while ensuring you understand each concept before moving forward. He also has a great sense of how much you can practice independently, so he doesn’t waste lesson time making you repeat things to perfection before moving on like some teachers do.

He's also been flexible with timing of lessons. When I needed to take a few weeks off for surgery and vacation, he was very accommodating.

Jonah is a cool guy who knows his craft. He's a fantastic boogie-woogie pianist. He's excellent at explaining things in small steps. He can demonstrate and demonstrate everything in practice. He's always motivated himself, and in turn, motivates his students as well. Of course, you have to learn on your own... and practice too, hahaha. But he's always there to help and advise, and I have a very good feeling with him and have made great progress since then. Being with him means having trust! The end isn't in sight, but, as I said, I have to play and practice myself... but I have the best teacher by my side.

At 75 I was doubtful that I could follow Boogie Woogie Mastery as a course and learn my favourite style of music along with Rock ‘n Roll and Blues on the piano. Jonah’s videos on Youtube are so clear on how to start learning that I quickly was able to play a couple of patterns and riffs before starting on my favourite song ‘Swanee River’. I joined the Beginners Course and really enjoyed the modules there, and feel lucky to have Jonah as my teacher. He’s a terrific Boogie Woogie pianist, an excellent teacher and his genuine enthusiasm for his craft is an important part of why I’m enjoying the weekly Zoom calls and look forward to additions to my practice plan on a regular basis. I'm working towards playing this brilliant foot tapping, finger clicking style fluently with Jonah, and recommend him and his modules 100%. Boogie on!
