I definitely would not recommend Laois…

I definitely would not recommend Laois Stone. I spent a significant amount of money on brick slips recently. After deciding to check the boxes while I was there for broken slips (especially corner pieces) I was left with one full box of slips and almost half a box of corner pieces broken. Some pieces had also been glued back together with the glue lines clearly visible.

After showing the staff in the warehouse the broken items, they informed me that they could not replace these.
Correct me of I am wrong but is it not illegal to sell damaged or broken goods in Ireland.
I rang the shop manager only to be told that I was 'Nit Picking' and that he would refund me. I told him that I just wanted what I had paid for. After all I had paid all the money for 'all' of the product, not 90% of the product.
I understand that items like this can get broken during transport, but it is not up to me as the customer to accept and absorb the cost of these damaged goods. I should have the option to replace these if need be.

Also, I have to mention that I found the shop manager extremely rude on the two occasions that I visited Laois Stone and Stoves. Rather than make an effort to interact with and be helpful to customers he seemed to prefer sitting behind he's computer. Furthermore, speaking in a different language in front of and about customers is not a nice way to conduct business. This goes for both the shop manager and the warehouse staff. When in Rome...

My excellent experience with Laois Stone

I had an excellent experience with Laois Stone and Stoves, from my personal and friends recommendations, they consistently deliver outstanding service and offer high-quality products.

Despite the shop being extremely busy during my visit, the staff were warm, attentive, and thoroughly professional. They patiently answered all my questions, ensuring I felt confident and informed about my options and choices.

Their selection was equally impressive, everything I needed, from flues to stone cladding, was available for immediate collection, which I urgently needed before Christmas preparatios. The convenience and efficiency they offer are truly commendable.

I highly recommend Laois Stone and Stoves to anyone looking for stoves or related products. You won’t be disappointed! Cheers.

Firstly a completely ignorant and rude front of house staff manager who made zero effort to interact with myself or other customers in the shop( just sat and played on his computer). Seemed to have limited knowledge of the stove industry/ accessories as any questions asked were redirected to the owner on loudspeaker might I add with customers in the shop.

Having had reservations, on my first visit, I spent a considerable amount of money on a stove and accessories. When one of the parts was too big for the required purpose, I went back to exchange it for a smaller size, providing my receipt of purchase as proof. I was redirected to the warehouse to drop off the product and for the warehouse manager to inspect the product prior to exchange/ refund. The Warehouse manager informed me that the product was fine and good to proceed back to the shop store. Upon returning to the shop to get an exchange “ I was confronted by the rude and arrogant shop manager who began to pull the product is damaged card” we cannot give you a refund or exchange.

I asked to speak to his manager/ superior, to which I spoke with the owner of the company who was a little more reasonable but did not offer much in the way of a resolution and sided with his employees to pull the product is damaged card”.

Overall Laois stone and stoves are one of the worst companies I have ever dealt with. I Would encourage people not to buy from this company, as in my experience they do not give one hoot about its customers or potential customers for that matter!! Take your business elsewhere!!!

However, we feel it is important to address and clarify some of the points you’ve raised, as they do not accurately reflect or in this case totally mislead our customers to your lies and wrong accusations towards our commitment to customer care or after sales care.
Firstly, regarding our staff, we strive to provide a welcoming and professional experience for all our customers. While we regret that your interaction did not meet your imaginable expectations, our staff members are trained to provide assistance to the best of their ability and consult our owner or specialist team if a customer query requires technical expertise. While it may not always be ideal, this ensures customers receive accurate and reliable information.
Regarding your purchase and the subsequent request for an exchange or refund, it's our company's policy to inspect returned items to ensure they are in their original, undamaged condition before issuing a refund or exchange. This policy is in place to maintain the quality of our products for all customers. In the phone conversation with you, you claimed that the flue was undammed and in its original packing, where we repeatedly asked you this question to make sure you returning “goods” in the condition you received from us, but based on the warehouse manager's inspection and our shop manager's subsequent assessment, the item was obviously damaged during your try to insert it in too small diameter chimney which caused multiple holes and bends to the flexi flue, as a result of this, unfortunately, affected our ability to process your request. We cannot take back damaged and unusable “goods” as “brand new and in original packing as received” condition. For obvious reasons, you didn’t mention this in your review in what state you tried to return your purchased flue liner.
We understand how frustrating this situation must have been for you, and we sincerely apologize if our explanation of the policy or its implementation came across as rude or dismissive. This was certainly not our intention. Our goal is always to resolve issues fairly and respectfully while adhering to company policies and this is what we did. We offered you a new flexi flue liner at cost price and you gladly agreed to take it, but once again, for obvious reasons, you didn’t mention this in your feedback.
Your comment about us not caring about our customers is particularly disheartening, misleading and wrong, as we take great pride in delivering quality products and ensuring customer satisfaction.
If you would like to discuss this matter further, please don’t hesitate to reach us and we would be happy to address any outstanding concerns and work toward a resolution that leaves you with a more positive impression of our business.

After sales service

We bought a pellet boiler stove from Laois Stone early this year and got it installed and commissioned by a guy they recommended. Initially it worked fine but after Summer when we started it again in September it would heat up to 54 degrees and then go on stand-by waiting for further input. We asked Laois Stone to give us information on how to solve the issue. But nothing useful was given. Instead they blamed the installation of solar pannels and an Eddi and the plumber. The plumber totally refused this allegation as he stands a 100% behind the installation. We then contacted the producer in Italy who informed us that he can not deal with us directly but has to go through Laois Stone. After sending him the correspondence we had with them he was willing to look into the situation and decided that the stove needed some changes in the set-up and said that Laois Stone need to ask for the password for the stove as the technician will need this to get into the system. We then contacted the guy who commissioned the stove but he did not answer calls nor texts. Then we asked Italy to give us a contact here in Ireland as it seems to us that they should have an interest on how their products are installed and serviced. Immediately we then got a new contact from Laois Stone and we had a WhatsApp conversation with him. But since then he doesn't answer any messages. Meanwhile our house is cold and the living room is heated with an electric stove.
Conclusion: Any one who wants to install a pellet stove here in Ireland should made sure that the seller of the stove sends the technician to commission the stove. That way they have to pay for it and will make sure that the technician is serious. We still believe that pellet stoves are a viable option to change from oil to alternative energies but more technicians should be trained. Certainly, Laois Stone has a terrible after sales service and we would look to an alternative seller.

while we attempted to assist you by troubleshooting the potential causes, including exploring possible negative impacts from external systems like solar panels, actual stove installation or wrong pipe connection, but we never assigned blame to any of them.
2. Coordination with the Manufacturer and installer/technician:
we understand that delays in communication with both the manufacturer and the recommended technician added unnecessary frustration, keeping in mind seasonal urgency for required installations or repair services. While the manufacturer requires requests to go through the retailer, we regret that this process took longer than it should have, assuming that the manufacturer is located in Italy. Additionally, we are actively addressing technical issues with our partners and installers to ensure as high as possible standard of service.
3. After Sales Service:
we take your feedback about our after sales service seriously. Providing reliable support for our customers is a priority and your case wasn’t any different. This experience highlights areas where communication between three parties can be improved, particularly in ensuring timely and effective follow-up to resolve issues.
Additionally, we have to add that we have sent three times installer to fix your issue and the issue was fixed according to you and the installer, but for some reason, you didn’t want to mention this fact in your feedback.

Poor customer service

I am awaiting delivery of flue components, its been about three weeks at this stage so I contacted them to enquire when I could expect delivery. They sent me a copy of my invoice to prove they had the order - but gave no indication when the delivery would be made. Items are obviously on back order, but there was no indication of this when I placed the order.If I had an idea that my items were on back order I might have looked elsewhere.

Here's the thing - I don't mind waiting but its appalling customer service to refuse to respond to a simple inquiry about expected delivery time - it inspires zero confidence in their operation, its the sort of thing I expect from a failing company.

UPDATE: The delivery arrived on 11th Nov 2024 without issue. So at the point I made my enquiry they should have known that the order had been dispatched already or was about to be dispatched - but they failed to inform me of this in their response to my enquiry. So my observation stands - this company has poor customer service.

Avoid Laois stoves …

I purchased a stove from Laois stove and from day 1 there was a ticking noise which I sent them a video! In return I got must be using dirty pellets ! But installed properly! Hard to know what noise is unless some1 looks into
It ! Did I get it commissioned! Anyway back n fort with emails as they are not very fort coming and trying to sort this before warranty as I only have a couple of years they way they are answering ! Anyway long story short eventually they said they would replace the boiler ! A month on and nothing now Wi-Fi not working ! Emailed no answers 2 days later emailed again then a reply so after a month I said I’d give them a chance with no luck I posted a review on there web sight I which this is the reply I got ( are you ready ) 13:42

So they are blaming me for having a problem with a product that I paid 4,000 for and that I won’t take it Lyn down ! They said they sent technian but I paid him 120 for this on top of 4,000 and they said I’m the problem! Avoid guys or do your homework! They don’t commission the stove so there fort do not stand over what they sell .

My stove pipe was delayed because of an address mix up..Laois Stoves sent me extra stove pipe i presume as a gesture of goodwill...My stove works well now and as luck would have it ,,,i did need extra pipe !? Thanks Laois Stone and Stoves !!

Terrible after sales experience

Terrible after sales experience, I spent over 2K on an order. The stove I bought turned out to be a display model that has since been discontinued. There was a part missing, and instead of Laois Stone replacing it for me, they told me to source it myself. I've had nothing but trouble with the stove since, due to a design flaw. I also had a couple of items that were surplus to requirement, the items were still in the boxes, unopened and unused, when I asked if I could return them for refund, they threw their "14 day" return policy at me, even though I got a verbal reassurance from one of the staff, that there would be no issue returning the items at a later date, just to contact him and deal directly with him on the matter. Basically, they won't take anything back 14 days after the sale date, which is absolutely ridiculous when it's a building material, stone cladding. I couldn't do the job within the 14 day window, because I was waiting for other pieces of the cladding to come back in stock, which didn't happen for nearly ten months, thus blowing the 14 day return out the window, if you pardon the pun.

Very poor customer service, and after sales service. They were very welcoming and courteous the day I placed the order and paid for items, but that's where the positive experience ended abruptly. Just be aware of this when you are dealing with Laois Stone, there's no issue if you don't need after sales care, but it becomes a big issue if you do!

Excellent quality products and A1 class service, nice easy to use e-shop, perfect invoice which was detailed and immediately available, well working order system and reaction trough email, next day delivery, everything was packed well, clean and driver was decent and helpful give us call before approaching address. This way should looks like service and this company running the business a professional way. Big thank you
