I just completed my RYA Day Skipper course with LSS in the Solent - their first practical course since lockdown began, and I have to say it was one of the most enjoyable weeks sailing I have had. The whole team conducted themselves and their operations totally responsibly given the social-distancing complications, and made us feel very safe all the time. Rob was our instructor, and was quite simply the best instructor I have had. He was calm, patient, but above all allowed us to take control and learn by doing, something which is vital for this type of course. I would recommend LSS and Equinox to anyone learning to sail, and I will certainly be visiting them again when time allows.

I completed the Day Skipper Theory course virtually with LSS in June 2020. The course was well structured and the teacher had an in-depth knowledge of the subject as well as an agreeable way of teaching. Interaction and support was provided during the lectures as well as outside the course if required. I would highly recommend the course and I am considering to enrol in the RYA Yachtmaster course.‎

I took the RYA Day Skipper. The course was delivered via zoom and it worked incredibly well. Jimbo transmits to students his sailing passion which it makes incredibly easy to learn even the most complex concepts.
If you are looking for improving your sailing skills, then the London School of Sailing is the right choice. I would definitely recommend it.

Cannot begin to express my gratitude to James (Jimbo) Davies for taking us through our lockdown day skipper theory. Thorough in his teaching and methodical approach to classes made this an enjoyable distance learning experience and will be wholeheartedly recommending to all.

The running of the course worked incredibly well and was enjoyable throughout.

Even in normal times, I’ve no idea how I could leave work early enough to make a 6pm class on a regular basis. Virtual learning provided the flexibility I needed; including being able to catch-up with videos when I had other commitments.

Small class sizes helped the process feel more personal and more social.

Our instructor Rury was excellent at explaining even the most complex questions. It was a thorough course well taught.

If you are looking to develop your sailing skills, sail in new waters, challenge yourself or simply enjoy time seeing parts of the world from the water, then London School of Sailing has something for you. Ruaraidh creates an environment which is fun and relaxed and yet also safe and jam packed with learning opportunities. Across the racing events and adventure cruises there are opportunities for complete newbies to find their sea-legs as well as for the more experienced sailor to develop their skills and confidence. The 2020 calendar has something to satisfy all of your sailing itches, the challenge is fitting it all in.

I had an amazing time on the Croatia trip this year. LSS organised a brilliant itinerary of sailing, swimming and socialising all while travelling around the fabulous Croatian coastline.
Ruaraidh is an excellent teacher - very patient with novices and keen to encourage more experienced sailors to progress. Alongside sailing (both cruising and a little racing) the trip offered plenty of time for relaxing in the sun and sharing a few sundowners with the group. It was a really fun and friendly trip - I would highly recommend it.
Awesome people, excellent boats and beautiful places. What more could you want?!

I’ve been on three sailing weeks with LSS and just had the most fantastic time. The trips are a really great place to build your sailing skills in a fun environment and explore some beautiful places.

The London School of Sailing has been a great place to progress my sailing skills and gain my qualifications. Ruaraidh, the chief instructor, has a very easy going personality which puts you at ease in any situation, including F9 gusts heeled over at 45 degrees! Beside his friendly nature Ruaraidh has a wealth of knowledge and experience that he is very keen to share, happily going over things again until they stick. Safety is a priority as well as ensuring the whole crew has an enjoyable time whether it’s racing in the Sunsail F40 Series or cruising the Solent. I would happily recommend LSS for any sailing needs!

Ruaraidh organised an amazing trip in Croatia this summer. It was the perfect combination of sailing, fun, sightseeing and competition/racing. The trip was very well planned but also very adaptable to weather/everyone’s preferences for the day. I highly recommend a trip with LSS!

I have been sailing with LSS/Ruaraidh a fair few times now; both racing in the UK and cruising in the Med.
Both are well organised and a great value for money.
The cruising is relaxed and very enjoyable. I have been to Croatia and Sicily, on very comfortable yachts and had a wonderful time.
The racing is competitive and incredibly educational - Ruaraidh has a wealth of knowledge he is more than happy to impart and is an incredibly patient teacher.
He also makes a mean espresso martini.

I’ve been on two trips with Ruaraidh, Croatia and Sicily, and had a great time on both of them. The sailing is great, Ruariadh adapts the itinerary to make the most of the conditions and locations so there’s always something going on. We found loads of lovely bays for snorkelling and swimming. The boats are comfortable and modern and it’s great to be in a small group of boats. It doesn’t matter if you’ve never sailed before, everyone is there to help others learn.. and to have fun. It’s very sociable, R gets a great group of people together for every trip.

Fun relaxed sailing trips!

Sailing on a boat with a bunch of friends around the Med with blue skies and blue seas sounds like the dream.. and it is!

I've been on three Med trips in three years and i'm booking onto the one for next year too. Any trips by Ruaraidh are just a great mix of great people / improving sailing skills / always good vibes / some fun & games / racing if people feel like it / just enough organisation to make it all work, but little enough to make it feel like a relaxed holiday!

I had a brilliant time on the Croatia trip this September.
As a relative novice, it was a wonderful balance of sailing, racing and fun. A really relaxed bunch of fellow sailors, incredibly welcoming & patient. Expertly organised by owner Ruaraidh.
Amazing scenery, swimming and seafood an added bonus!

Just the friendliest, most supportive and best sail training and cruising I’ve experienced. Ruaraidh (owner) has a light touch which allows everyone to go beyond their limits and learn from their own mistakes, with the experience to know when to intervene. If you like sailing, like pushing beyond your limits and like learning amongst friends, you won’t find better than LSS
