The lock fits on the side
The lock fits on the side, but it also prevents the screen from closing completely and that may cause stress to the screen over the long term as it travels in a tight bag with a monitor and other accesories.

I had a hard time finding a lock that would work with my MacBook Air, but Maclocks delivered exactly what I needed. I bought the universal tablet lock security plate which along with the cable lock is well made and feels strong and dependable. I also appreciated their helpful customer support, who made sure I got the right product for my laptop.
