I was a frequent customer of Marie’s website, ordering every week or two and spending thousands of dollars over time. I enjoy trying new products, unknown brands, which initially kept me coming back.
Because I purchase so often, I occasionally received items that didn’t suit me—but I always considered that my own responsibility. When there were legitimate issues, like a broken item, customer service did provide refunds, which I appreciated.
However, I began noticing recurring problems with food items. On several occasions, products seemed improperly stored despite having valid expiration dates. This became a pattern, not a one-time issue.
The final incident that made me stop shopping there involved a bottle of olive oil. Although the expiration date was fine, it had a strong, fishy taste and was clearly spoiled. It ruined an entire salad I had prepared for dinner. While the item itself was only $9, the situation was frustrating and inconvenient.
I contacted customer service, asking to return the bottle, but my return request was denied—twice. I was told it was simply a matter of personal taste, which I strongly disagree with. I know what olive oil should taste like, and this product was not acceptable.
After spending some time trying to resolve the issue, I asked to be removed from their mailing list and stated that they had lost a loyal customer. The response I received was simply: “You are off the list.”
That response, more than anything, reflects how this company treats its customers. Refusing to stand behind a clearly defective product—especially for a $9 —comes across as short-sighted and dismissive.
While I did have some positive experiences in the past, the repeated issues with food quality and the poor handling of this situation ultimately outweighed them. Customer service should be better.

The things I get are a hit or miss in terms of taste, but it does not stem from freshness but rather the nature of the food item itself. i.e. A brand new, full-priced one wouldn't have tasted any better. They do also have promotions often, like free shipping or free items. Unfortunately, there is a shipping surcharge for my area (Louisiana), and even if shipping is "free," the surcharge is still applied. I would also caution you about their final sale policy. I once ordered something by mistake and was unable to get any kind of return or refund on it.

You can get some genuinely good products at a good discount. I've never had any issues with broken items with Martie. Would recommend trying it out at least once to see how you like it!

they will sell you EXPIRED products, or ALMOST expired products. I got a bunch of granola that goes stale this month. are you kidding me? some of their products don't even have an expiration date so you don't know (some skincare products) It's too much of a gamble. Normally from the store, granola will be good for 2+ years. That means these bags have been sitting around for a very long time. the AUDACITY. never again

Buyer beware - They will send you stale and opened food items and if you don't request a refund within 7 days you might get a credit. I ordered some Partake individual cookies for my son because he usually likes them (he's 7). I tried to get him to eat them last night because I noticed we hadn't gone through more than one bag and that's when it was discovered that the packages were all barely sealed or were wide open and my husband said they are all stale.
On top of this I had also ordered Valentine Choco Yums for my son's Valentine's party. I found out they were expired the day before his party which was too late to report the issue. They were also stale and discolored but I didn't think to report them at the time.
I like the theory but with lack of quality control and only a 7 day reporting window it's too risky to continue to buy from them. Especially when I've never had to be the quality control person for orders or groceries in the past. I don't have the capacity to add one more thing to my plate and it's not worth saving a couple of dollars on things I don't buy often.
Customer service was quick to reply but they just quote their 7 day return policy so I feel like I'm the one who messed up. I do appreciate they offered a credit but the approach they took felt icky. If the cookies arrived in edible condition they would not have sat in my pantry uneaten for weeks. Between the 7 and 17 year old they would have cleaned them out in a few days. None of my other food items have had issues. I've also had potatoes living in this same pantry for months and they are fine.

I've emailed the martie team about a product I received and they don't respond. Customer service is lacking. Products are also not consistent in quality. Some products I've received in the past came moldy. Given that we are aware these products are near their expiration date I cannot fault them too much on that as long as they make it right. I haven't had issues with expired products but my unresolved issue is they also sell home goods and the product I received is no where near the quality of the product on the website. I am disappointed and will not stop here anymore.
I have been VERY PLEASED with Martie.com. Customer Service is great and I really appreciate that the sell by dates are listed for products. I have read reviews before playing my first order, and hesitated because there were some with negative feedback. I decided to try it out for myself and there is not one item that hasn't been terrific. I do google unfamiliar product on line to inform what I order. I usually pass on the added protection option. Items are always securely packaged and my orders are traveling all the way to the East Coast! The only disappointment is that many items are a one-time only purchase, so don't hesitate for items that meet you storage and use criteria.
