Dealing with Mercury Services has been nothing short of frustrating. Their customer service is practically non-existent—every attempt to reach them ends in endless hold times, unreturned emails, or simply no response at all. It feels impossible to get through to an actual person when you need help.

On top of that, their plans are severely overpriced compared to competitors, and there’s little to no value for the money. The only thing they seem to do efficiently is send out the bill each month, without fail. Unfortunately, that’s where their reliability begins and ends.

Overall, Mercury Services has proven to be unresponsive, overpriced, and careless toward their customers’ needs.

Nothing but trouble from day one. Calls to customer service dropped. Broken promises re. billing charges and posted statement. Samsung phone offered as incentive has incompatible plug. Stick with your current provider. Going back to contact energy soon as contract up.

If you dont have to make contact, then they are as good or as bad as everyone else.

They arent very good if you have solar. Their online portal doesnt allow for solar, nor does their app. to get your generation data, you need to beg for usage data, or read the meter yourself or wait for the bill to arrive.

If you leave them, your account will be locked out and you can see bills but no data.

12 days and still waiting for our LPG bottle to arrive. Got told the supplier had run of of big bottles. When asked to put urgency on the delivery I'm told URGENT DELIVERY COST MORE! Dealing with idiots and still waiting.

Do not use Mercury for broadband. Terrible connection, our Wifi drops out continually on devices. Door salesman told us Mercury broadband service would do exactly the same as our old provider, which was not true. When I contacted Mercury about problem they told me my house was very big (220sqm!) and I would need to buy another router - beware of misleading door salesmen!!

I highly commend Mercury NZ. They gave the rates inclusive of GST so you know your whole costs. Compared to other power companies too, they are great for customer service on the phone with an option for a call back. I like talking to a human!!! Which I really enjoy especially when you are unsure about stuff

The worst company i ever have. Were on holiday for over a month and nobody is at home and when we comeback our bill for that month is 519.00 and there explanation is because somebody cancelled our account and we need to pay some cancellation fee. I did not cancelled my account at all they are just making it up. They are useless

I accidentally overpaid my account. I Called their 0800 only to be told there was a 78 min wait time. I then used the Chat function. I wrote my situation and received a reply that I would be contacted at 3pm to which I was very grateful. I received the call at 3:30pm and was greeted by a very kind, caring and helpful Customer Service Officer. Mani, thank you so much. You made the error I made, easy to resolve. Deeply appreciated your kindness. A great representative for Mercury Energy 👏🏽

I have been trying to contact Mercury using their "Chat" system.
It is ridiculously overloaded and massively understaffed.
This afternoon I tried to contact Mercury and was 32nd in the queue!
Employ more staff Mercury, your customer service is appalling.

My parents got a deal which included a new washing machine .. they were so happy as they have moved into a new home it’s been a month or so and they’ve been having problems only used it once .. they been ringing and ringing and get told we’ll call you back ..and they ring you !! Cause no one rings them back .. my poor parents have to take there laundry down to a laundry mat .. can’t use go over and check .. it’s brand new ? Can use help my parents ? go over and check or something ? Like go help ? Or something it’s brand new they have only used once ? Any help please for them

I am extremely disappointed and disturbed by my recent experience. A contractor, hired by your company, entered my property without permission or prior notice. He claimed to be there to carry out work, yet arrived in an unmarked vehicle and provided no identification. When I approached him to ask who he was and why he was there, he responded aggressively and appeared threatening, holding a spanner in a confrontational manner.

I felt genuinely unsafe. Only after I called the police did his demeanor suddenly shift, and he began acting like the victim. This behavior is deeply unprofessional and alarming.

I urge others to be cautious when dealing with contractors from this company — you never know who you’re letting near your home or how stable they might be. This experience taught me a hard lesson: don’t assume people sent by a company are always trustworthy or properly vetted.

Mercury, you have a responsibility to thoroughly screen your contractors. This kind of behaviour is unacceptable and raises serious concerns about the safety and mental fitness of the individuals you employ.

I am beyond frustrated with Mercury Energy's handling of our recent LPG gas delivery. After placing an order six working days ago and confirming telephonically just yesterday—during which Mercury confirmed with the service provider that the bottle would be delivered today—I was shocked to learn that no delivery would be made because the supplier had no drivers available.

How is that even acceptable? You confirmed delivery after speaking to the supplier—how do you suddenly run out of drivers on the day? This isn’t just a minor inconvenience; it’s a complete failure of service and planning.

Yes, I didn’t anticipate that our second bottle would run out too, but as soon as I realised, I placed an order right away—relying on your confirmation that gas would be delivered today. Now we’re told “maybe tomorrow.” That’ll be day 7 waiting on delivery and 3 days without gas.

We’re a working household with a family to feed and bathe. No gas means no cooking and no hot water. We’re being forced to rely on takeout—again—which is unsustainable and ridiculously expensive. Mercury’s response? Sorry for the inconvenience, we hope that it will be delivered tomorrow. So just a shrug and another promise.

Frankly, this is unacceptable, inconsiderate, and unprofessional. If this is what your “service” looks like under pressure, it’s time to reconsider our provider. Families deserve better.

Please go to another provider !
Poor customer service, unable to use rewards points as promised, no flexibility at all towards clients.
I won’t be renewing contract with them or recommend them to others.

Changed to mercury my internet amazing difference Mercury internet fibremax fantastic,the service for the changeover seamless Thank you Mercury. I was getting good internet performance before but after changing to mercury eero 6+ the performance level skyrocketed

If I could give 0 stars I would, the internet is hopeless. Everything keeps dropping of the network, so I have changed back to who I was originally with.

Very disappointed with mercury sales rape , he is misleading customers buy not providing accurate information and giving them their personal contact number and when we call them they not pickup, just want ask Mercury that please take steps against these kind of sales person. Very very disappointed I can pay more rather staying with wrong and dishonest company.

Worst wifi in history no wonder they give you a free tv, still not worth it. Might be considerable if they have you a house to use it. Crazy scam can’t do anything without it being slow even if you got one person on it.
