Like for like boiler replacement only!

MHL appear to be very limited in the service they offer. There were three principle problems:

1) I ideally wanted a Worcester Bosch boiler (which they do install) on account of their accepted reliabilty and longevity, but this wasn't possible for MHL because a perceived problem with the number of cores in an installed cable. In reality there are industry accepted relatively simple work arounds that could have allowed them to fit my preferred boiler. Instead they quoted to fit a lower quality Baxi boiler which was directly compatible with the installed cabling.

2) They were unable to brick up the hole where the exisisting flue is. The hole would be filled with concrete instead or I could brick it up myself. Is this really a reputable boiler installation company??!!

3) The surveyour wasn't happy with the currently installed 22mm gas pipe and said it would need to be replaced with 28mm. This is total nonsense and I couldn't believe what I was hearing. I challenged this requirement but he stuck to his assertion with great determination. Again.... is this really a reputable boiler installation company????!!!!

A quotation for what they were willing to do was received promptly and the price appeared reasonable. However, the quote pointed me in the direction of their terms and conditions, and these read like a horror story - seemingly allowing them to do pretty much anything they wanted without necessarily informing me and with them taking little responsibilty if things go wrong!

I will definitely not be taking them up on their offer.

The two stars I have awarded them are for the courtesy shown by the surveyour and the promptness of the quote.

Follow up to MHL's response:

When first requested to submit a review, immediately after receiving the quotation and without any work having been completed, I ignored the request as I didn't think it appropriate or worthwhile. I deleted the request. Then, very much to my annoyance, less than a week later I received a reminder that I had not yet left a review and how important and appreciated it would be. So I left a truthful review and you don't like it.
If you don't want reviews that follow on from quotations then don't request them.... and certainly don't chase when not received.
I note that you don't address one single issue raised by my review and resort to a personal insult instead.
What did I write about not taking responsibility when things go wrong........

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. However, it’s quite remarkable and frankly a bit odd to see such a detailed critique of a company that hasn’t actually completed any work for you.

You have criticised a quote that we provided following a free survey visit. However surely your review energy would be better spent on the company that eventually instalsl your boiler, rather than MHL who just kindly provided a free survey and quote.

Based on your comments, it’s clear you have the potential to be a very difficult customer, and I would prefer my company absorb this negative review than deal with you in the future.

Very Disappointed in this Company!

Very disappointed in this company, they have serviced our Oil fired boiler for the last 5 years, bearing in mind boiler is 6 years old and 1st year it was commissioned.
4 years have been satisfactory but on recent service visit.
Engineer told us after boiler service that their were 2 advisories and he would email us over a quote to do the work.
Received quote and thought it was rather expensive?
Done some research and 2 companies came back with the same reply, telling us that 1 of the parts from the advisories would hardly need to be replaced on a 6 year old boiler.
Got a Oftec registered heating engineer to go over boiler and see if these advisories needed replacing.
The boiler did not need the supposed 2 spare parts?
And in his professional capacity, told us the boiler was absolutely fine and did not need any replacement parts?
Have emailed this company twice, and have tried ringing them, and no one has yet from customer services has got back to us.

Thank you for your review, although it is not an accurate reflection of what took place.

Following the boiler service, our engineer recorded the following:

“Recommend new ignition electrodes and burner gasket. Electrodes are starting to wear and split. Burner gasket is also showing signs of wear and splitting.”

This was a recommendation based on visible wear, not a requirement for immediate work. A quotation was provided as a matter of routine, should you wish to proceed.

At no stage were you advised that the work was necessary or urgent. The suggestion that this was anything more than a standard recommendation is incorrect.

You are, of course, free to seek other opinions, but raising concerns over a quote that was just based on our engineer’s observations and was entirely optional is unnecessary, and frankly, ridiculous.

The engineer that came to service our…

The engineer that came to service our heater,was very polite and explained what he was going to do. I spoke to the company on the phone again very polite and talked me through the the bill system on the phone.
