A beautiful discovery for us...
**A beautiful discovery for us...and a heartfelt recommendation for anyone who is hesitant**
When David and I brought Bluey home, a beautiful rescue from the Humane Society, we found ourselves facing a question that mattered deeply to us:
Could we love and care for a cat without participating in the suffering of other animals to feed her?
We had always felt uncomfortable with the idea of supporting an industry built around taking one animal’s life to sustain another, so we began researching plant-based nutrition for cats. We questioned some of the long-standing assumptions we had simply inherited, and we discovered that there are plant-based cat foods formulated to provide the nutrients cats need.
That’s how we found Nature’s Hug...
Bluey was two years old when we adopted her and had been eating conventional meat-based food her entire life. We therefore approached the transition slowly and carefully, giving her time to adjust rather than expecting an overnight change.
And honestly? We could not be happier with the result.
Bluey absolutely ADORES Nature’s Hug. Her coat is incredibly silky, shiny and thick. Her energy is through the roof...and truly, sometimes she has so much energy that David and I can barely keep up with her! 😂 Her digestion has also been wonderful: regular, healthy bowel movements and plenty of fibre in her diet.
Most importantly, she is thriving.
For anyone who has been curious about plant-based cat food but has felt afraid to make the transition, I want to say this from the heart:
We understand that fear. We had it too...
Changing something so fundamental as what we feed a beloved animal can feel like a huge leap of faith. But our experience with Bluey has shown us that this path is possible, and that choosing compassion does not necessarily mean compromising the wellbeing of the animal we love.
We are incredibly grateful that we found a company whose mission resonates so deeply with our own values. Nature’s Hug is worth every penny to us, and we are lifelong customers. AND THANK GOD it's a Canadian Company!
We also hope that by sharing our experience, other people who have struggled with this same dilemma might feel a little less afraid and a little more empowered to explore the possibilities for themselves.
For us, this is ultimately about something much bigger than cat food.
It is about questioning conventions we have inherited simply because they have been repeated for generations. It is about being willing to investigate, to learn, and to ask whether there might be kinder ways forward.
We believe that reducing unnecessary suffering wherever we can is worthwhile.
And perhaps that is one of the most beautiful things about being alive...we are not required to remain bound to every old convention. We can question. We can discover. We can choose differently.
For Bluey, that choice has become part of a very happy, energetic, wonderfully furry life.
Sending a BIG HUG and Thank you to Nature’s Hug, for making that choice possible for us. We are so grateful to have found you. 💚🌱🐈

For certain regions of the country, such as Alberta, delivery by Ground service can take up to approximately 8 days.
Each order also needs to be prepared and carefully packaged before being handed over to the carrier.
As shipping costs have increased significantly, we have chosen not to pass these increases on to the price of our food and instead ship orders by Ground rather than Express. As a small business, we do not have the extensive logistics network of major online retailers.
We therefore recommend that our customers allow a few extra days and order sufficiently in advance to avoid running out of food. We are nevertheless continuing to look for ways to improve delivery times while maintaining the quality and price of our products.
Thank you for your understanding.

As well, we recently purchased some kitten kibble for our 10 week old and both the kitten and the 11 year old enjoy it.
