Choose a different card provider.

Made a purchase online and cancelled within 24 hours, company didn't action any refund so after a month out a claim in with Aqua, two months after this I receive an email to say this claim has been rejected and no option to take it any further. Still no refund and no support from Aqua.

Absolutely. Tried to make me pay. For a debt that won't even mine. Would cancel the direct debit and now I'm trying to make me pay over two and a half grand. And now I'm trying to shift the blame to me. And do you not want to resolve it? And I said it's not my problem anymore.

Worst card and service ever asked for…

Worst card and service ever asked for month after month for payment date to be changed due to my own pay day told its been done and then mext month everytime a fine for a missed payment as the date is never changed they lie and have zero respect for the customer

I am unable to get OTPs from NewDay.

I am unable to get OTPs from NewDay.
I do get OTPs from other Financial institutions so conclude it is a NewDay problem that they won't address. I do not want their problem.
TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE AND USELESS

Reply noted, thanks; I have spoken with NewDay a couple of times and also a mail from David Land dismissing my complaint. NewDay really don't care about this problem that is not mine.
I get messages and OTPs from several other Financial services so the problem is not my phone service supplier

Bad.. I took out a card with Amazon which…

I took out a card with Amazon on 07/07/2021 which then changed to Newday. Then just around 22/04/2022 i was in between job change, house move so missed updating my address before my account was closed due to arrears on the account. Newday went ahead to default the account without even lifting a finger to properly contact the account holder over a call on the number they have on record. Instead they sold my details over to a third party provider called Link finance who took it upon themselves to call and arrange payment with myself(payment has been made in full).
I tried to call Newday regarding the default on my account and every staff i spoke to minus the very first one said it's my fault that i didn't update my address on the account. Bear in mind they sent out a letter to my old address and got a callback but instead they choose to damage my credit score by putting on a default. I'm still suffering the consequences from their action to date. I regret ever taking the amazon card as the customer service i spoke to didn't really care even when i raised complaints and called them they still told me that they sent correspondence of the complaint to the same old address which was the issue from the start which i complained about and i have no access to change this now on a closed account.

Trying to get OTP which has never worked since got new phone 18 months ago phone company have spent weeks as have marbles trying to resolve this situation to no avail
Phone company are convinced that marbles have not upgraded the actual phone at their end.i genuinely have no idea so just keep using account manager to keep an eye on account and make payments

Is this legal business practise?

After making monthly payments for 2 years with no contact from newday ltd so no idea of any issues, I went to check my balance thinking I must have almost cleared my balance by now. To find that because I missed one singular payment, which again I had absolutely zero contact from newday in regards to, they cancelled my original interest offer and for TWO WHOLE YEARS I have only been paying the interest. Surely this isn’t acceptable lending practise? I don’t even know how or why the payment is missing and again zero contact from newday in regards to this to allow me to rectify the issue before they greedily upped my interest rates.

In my opinion the marble card is…

In my opinion the marble card is exceptional.
Everything about the usage is so easy and the credit limit is upgraded on a regular basis once you are using the card with integrity and you pay on time.

Be extremely careful with AO Finance / NewDay: unclear finance terms, confusing Direct Debit options, and persistent debt risk

I am currently going through a very disappointing, stressful and time-consuming experience with AO Finance / NewDay, and I deeply regret taking finance with them. I wish I had chosen a more transparent and trustworthy company.

I am writing this because I do not want anyone else to go through the same situation. Below are the things I wish I had known from day one.

This is not “set it and forget it” finance. If you use AO Finance / NewDay, take control from day one and do not stop monitoring until you clear your balance and close the account.

1. Screenshot everything during checkout.
Key finance information can disappear once you move through the online process. The credit agreement does not clearly give you, in one simple personalised repayment plan, the exact finance product, APR, promotional rate, Direct Debit type, repayment term or final payment date.

2. Call immediately and confirm your APR.
Do not assume that seeing 0% finance during checkout means you have actually been given 0%. NewDay decides what finance product and APR they approve after the application/check process. You may only see this clearly on your first statement, which can arrive weeks later.

3. Build your own repayment plan.
NewDay does not give you a fixed plan with a clear end date, so make your own. Once you know the APR, do the maths. Choose your monthly payment, your timeline and your exit date. If you can afford it, pay more rather than less. Be strategic from the beginning. In hindsight, I would rather have avoided all this work and chosen another company.

4. Choose your Direct Debit type carefully.
The default Direct Debit may be flexible, not fixed. If you want a fixed monthly amount, set this manually in the online account manager and screenshot the confirmation. In my case, my Direct Debit amount was reduced without my authorisation or understanding, which led to a serious issue that could potentially affect my credit file.

5. Check every statement.
Do not just check that a payment left your bank. Check the amount taken, the interest charged, whether the balance is reducing, and whether the Direct Debit still matches your plan. If the payment drops, do not assume it is good news.

6. Keep evidence.
Save screenshots, statements, emails, Direct Debit documents, payment confirmations and phone call notes from day one.

7. Watch out for persistent debt.
If NewDay reduces your monthly payment unexpectedly, do not assume it is good news. Treat it as a warning sign.
NewDay can significantly reduce your monthly payments without your authorisation. If those lower payments are left running for a long period, this is exactly how you can end up in persistent debt.
If this happens, contact them immediately, ask why the payment changed, and request the reinstatement of the payment you originally set up. If you do not have a fixed payment, consider setting one up and monitor it closely.

My takeaway
If you want clear finance with a clear APR, fixed payments, a clear end date and peace of mind, I would seriously consider another provider.
AO Finance / NewDay requires constant monitoring, careful records and your own repayment strategy. The payment structure is ambiguous and not straightforward to follow.

If you still choose NewDay, monitor everything, keep evidence, challenge anything that does not match your plan, and do not give their payment system control of your account.
