They are just dreadful. I’ve had a electric charger fitted on the property for over 12 months and I’m now being conned into having a new connector fitted. I’ve forwarded the original safety certificate which confirms the right connector is fitted but don’t stop ringing me. Today’s phone call resulted in me having to put the phone down because of the lady at the Sale office would not let me speak they just rant and rant and rant. I’m absolutely not paying this awful terrible letting agent and another £199 to change you connected it’s already been fitted. This isn’t my first complaint of Northwoods. They never reply to you if you’ve got a problem it’s taken me over six months to get the roof tiles replaced and now we’ve got damp in the bathroom. It took me over six months to get a response from them, but if they’ve got a problem with you, they’re all over you. Definitely definitely would never rent a property from these people again. They’re just about the worst agents I can ever imagine. Don’t waste your time rent somewhere else.

For over 5 years they've been extremely unprofessional, unresponsive , zero property maintenance...we had enough, property owner had enough and decided to end his contract with them.
Now, they switched our energy supplier using our details, without consent ,never informed us, and created contracts incorrectly (even in the landlord’s name).
As a result, our original deal with our energy supplier has been disrupted and we may end up paying more — all due to their actions.
Unprofessional and careless.

If I could give a lower star review I would! Awful people and a useless company, we viewed a property, all set to move in, payed the fee for the checks and passed them with no issues, then we get a call to say we failed their in house checks! They never told us about these checks so after fighting with them we finally got a refund.
We then found a new property which was much cheaper per month, my wife rang to book a viewing and they told her the property had gone, so she asked her dad to call them and they told him they could book him a viewing for the same property we were told is unavailable, so I spoke to them and managed to book a viewing, I then got another call from Northwood saying that they weren’t going to go ahead with our viewing, when I asked them why, they said it was because they had us on file and we didn’t pass their in house checks before so it would be a waste of their time. We explained that it was for a property that was £250 more per month than the new property we wanted to look at, he then said we would need a guarantor that earns more than £32400 a year, we told him our sister who earns £38000 a year would be a guarantor and then JAMES told us that we still couldn’t reach the affordability! They are thieves and liars! And JAMES is pompous and rude

Absolutely disgusting and unprofessional, snobby and rude! Manipulative, liars and never felt so angry or upset from anyone, especially when you trust them with the home you rent. Conned and just wanted to take money and left me and my family in mouldy damp home.
house renovation
A thorough job from start to finish by Robbie on the renovation of my property. Quick response on questions and continual photo updates on the project. The chosen contractor was very neat and tidy throughout.

We paid a deposit on the 13th and submitted all required documents. After that, communication almost completely stopped. Emails were ignored and the agent responsible said she would confirm the possible move-in date (23rd) with the landlord — then disappeared. No calls, no emails.
We only found out that the landlord had agreed to our tenancy when we called them ourselves. They clearly knew earlier but never informed us.
Later we were told the flat had multiple issues (faulty window, damaged carpet, toilet problems). As of the 27th, they still couldn’t give us a clear move-in date.
Two weeks of waiting and uncertainty — and in the end we were left with no flat. Completely unprofessional.

Very unhappy with this company so far.
Flat hadn’t been clean prior to me moving in, it was absolutely disgusting. Upon moving I found numerous flats that needed repairing. I was asked to provide images of faults which I have done and it’s been over a month and I’m not getting replies to emails.
I have now sent in a formal complaint advising that I will be getting environmental health and letting agent ombudsman involved to get this looked at and sorted.
Don’t rent through this company, so wish I hadn’t.
Northwood scammers
This company lies to tenants puts lives in danger fails to maintain properties in time and I had to give a star to write this as a warning to anyone who is thinking of signing anything with them , the property I'm in is a house that was turned into 6 flats but the basement was constantly flooded due to it being built on a natural spring in the 1900 an as all things have lifespan this building is wrecked with stress signs showing and fractured walls and mould and electrical issues and false advertising of communal garden, windows that was never fitted properly and rooms that don't hold heat for more than 2 minutes, leaking taps smoke alarms that go off that nobody can shut off until maintenance chap turns up , constant damp smell, having to paint six times a year to stop over growing of mould,not one issue solved after 5 years of back and forth emails , they are scummy humans and wish they all get fined. After checking lifespan of the building it's spent it's 100 year life span and that's only when maintaining properly and as the basement has been constantly exposed to the elements it more than likely to be at the point of structural failure.

Trash. Keep reporting repairs and they’re not fixing anything. Moreover they say oh we cannot find your e-mails in any of our inboxes. Property full of mold, attic full of damp. Told them I want financial compensation or rent reduction from landlord and told them they have 48 hours to come back with an answer. No answer so I’ll take them to court because by the law I can claim for disrepair. Bye!

Absolute cowboys that should have their license revoked.
I rented a 1-bedroom flat and was made a number of empty promises by an extremely pushy agent named Lisa Ellis, who told me that several repairs were required however would be completed by the time I moved in. She pushed me to move the start date forward insisting all jobs would be complete within the week.
When I moved in, the jobs were far from finished and the place was FILTHY.
I found old, dingy, stained, lampshades that had inches of dust and cobwebs on them. Filthy curtains with more stains. Black marks in the toilet. A used, mouldy shower curtain. Dirt, grease and grime everywhere. Defaced surfaces and holes in the walls behind doors.
I had to start from scratch and clean everything myself despite having the house full of boxes. I have been unable to unpack for a week.
To add insult to injury, none of the appliances had been serviced. The water tank made a deafening noise that had the neighbours repeatedly bang on the wall and made me unable to use the hot water for a week, while said Lisa had gone on holiday with my commission and no person to replace her. No other agent at the agency bothered to help, nor even answer.
The dishwasher was broken. The washing machine was broken; I had my clothes swimming in the drum full of water for another entire week. The fence was completely down for several weeks.
The flat is a corner house on the ground floor, totally exposed to the street. Despite Lisa promising in front of my partner that security blinds would be installed throughout by the time I moved in, this never happened. She took it all back denying she ever promised that.
I had neighbours telling me they could see everything inside and I felt extremely unsafe. The place is in Reading.
To top it all, Northwood broke into my property without my consent twice, despite me paying rent. They left the gate open on both occasions once again endangering my safety, and leaving an absolute mess in the garden on the way out. Trash on the floor and my tools haphazardly scattered on the ground.
My deposit was never registered until I chased and finally got an instant reply by the third-party scheme TDS 9 weeks in. I should have received this within 30 days as prescribed by law.
But the best part of it all is when I found PESTS!! in the carpet and reported them. I was so horrified I couldn’t sleep for days.
Northwood’s answer to that was to simply ‘gently repose them outside the window’ and refused to send over for an infestation. I had to take time off work, personally purchase toxic poison and treat the bedroom myself!!
My mental health has been seriously affected over this tenancy. I have been going through all this while trying to hold down a full-time on-site job of great responsibility at our busiest time.
I got in trouble at work due to the stress and exhaustion, and the several enforced absences, which cost me a disciplinary and a final warning.
Once referred to the senior manager Paula Elizabeth, she has been passive-aggressively ignoring every single one of my complaints and trying to shift blame and gaslight me. We had several exchanges.
Northwood themselves, and that is Ms Elizabeth, offered to rescind the contract due to their numerous failures, so I moved out ahead of the break clause.
They are now retracting on everything and claim that I should still pay rent for the entire duration of the contract because I am allegedly the one in breach.
They are shady, twisted, plain incompetent and assumed 0 accountability.
They are now withholding my full deposit claiming I caused damages (a BLATANT lie!), as in fact I am the one that has thoroughly cleaned and repaired the property, rid of pests and brought the house to a liveable standard. I even retouched the walls with white paint before I moved out to restore the occasional accidental mark.
I am in possession of all photographic evidence.
The landlord had an outstanding electricity bill and they are now trying to attribute it to me despite it being for a period way before I moved in.
I am now pursuing this matter legally and I am taking Northwood Estate Agents to Court.
STAY WELL CLEAR if you want to spare yourself of a nervous breakdown and live through a nightmare!!
Possibly the worst letting agency
Possibly the worst letting agency I’ve ever dealt with, and that’s saying something after seven years of private renting. Avoid them, particularly the West Derby branch.
From the very start of my tenancy through to months after it ended, it was one issue after another. Communication was consistently poor, and when replies did come through, they were often unprofessional and poorly written. When I did manage to contact them by phone, the attitude was consistently rude and unprofessional.
Maintenance issues I reported were left unresolved for weeks. On more than one occasion, people turned up at my flat for inspections that were never scheduled or communicated to me. Even after I had moved out, a contractor contacted me a month later to fix an issue I had reported a week before leaving (which says a lot about how badly things were managed).
My deposit was and still is unfairly withheld, and overall the experience was extremely frustrating and stressful.
The only positive moment was being let back into the flat when I locked myself out once, and that felt like it was down to one helpful individual rather than the company as a whole.
Not trustworthy
Gor tricked into a contract extension by these crooks. Stay away.

Car repaired like brand new!!
Customer service was exemplary the BEST I have experienced with car garages. They were communicating on a daily basis so I was fully aware of the works and expected time of repair.
I recommend them and will be using them again!! The repair made my car look like brand new!! Thank you for an excellent service 😻
Avoid at all costs
Avoid at all costs! An awful experience in St Albans: 6 days to prep a single contract, missed the timelines I requested 10 days in advance and didn't communicate that, didn't arrange an appointment for me to collect keys to enter the flat - only for the clerk. In the end cancelled my deposit on the ground of their own incapabilities.
Avoid if you want good service
Such a poor service. Rude staff. Unreliable. Used them to rent out a property, they didn’t carry out proper checks, ended up with over a year of unpaid rent. Property damaged. They would not support me so had to do the whole eviction myself. They just provided a terrible service then abandoned me. Wouldn’t help me with even basic help. Then contacted me after the tenant was forcibly evicted to ask if they could have their deposit back. £13000 rent arrears and court costs and they asked me if I wanted to release the tenants deposit. Speechless. Avoid if you can
