Grand Oasis Cancun
The Grand Oasis Cancun is absolutely beautiful! The beach is fabulous, and the facilities are clean and well kept. Where it fell apart for me was the size of the resort, the service provided and the quality of the food. Be prepared to do A LOT OF WALKING!! Everything is far away from everything. Our room was missing the telephone cord, and although I reported it twice, I never got a call or response about it, even though I told them that I was traveling with someone with health issues. This is also the first hotel i've been to where there was a fee to use the in-room safe provided, and they neglected to mention that upon check-in. We found one restaurant where the food was decent, it's called The Marketplace. The Japanese/Mexican fusion restaurant was awful as well as the pizza and pasta restaurant. Tunkul, one of the buffet style restaurants, was also very bad.
Lastly, DO NOT expect to use your American Express card at this hotel, they can only accept it if your purchase is converted to pesos and some places on the resort refused to accept it - including the company who arranged the tours and excursions.
