Day light robbery
Worst experience I have ever had - in absolute shock that they can get away with this.
We booked for our car to be collected after being given a quote of £280 for our car (Audi A3). We were told we would be paid a day after collection provided their inspection all went ok (baring in mind we had been very clear with all the issues with the car, so there should be nothing new).
They then rang the next working day to say they could only offer £50 for the car and we could either accept the offer and they send the money, or refuse the quote and collect our car.
We refused the quote and tried to arrange for the collection of our car. As they had collected our car from North London and for some reason taken it to Southampton, it was going to be a nightmare to collect ourselves, so we were trying to arrange collection through another company. To make matters worse the company and address of the yard it had been taken to, that they provided on the paperwork didn't exist. We looked on every map and browser... it didn't exist.
I rang back again and asked for the correct details only to go round in circles, them saying the details are on the paperwork, me having to repeatedly say the details aren't correct as they don't exist, to them then saying we cannot arrange the collection, we have to make an appointment through them and it has to be the registered keeper of the vehicle in attendance for the yard to release the vehicle with ID, despite us saying we would give, written and verbal permission to whoever needs it. Which is ironic as they didn't ask for ID or confirm us as the registered keepers of the vehicle when collecting it.
They said it was the yards terms and conditions so they couldn't do anything, to which for the 100th time we asked for their details so we could discuss with them directly.
The paper work stated if the car is taken to an unreasonable distance from collection they need to share the details required to arrange collection.
By this point they keep rushing me off the phone and saying they'll get the details for me and call back, and assured me it would before the end of the day. We also expressed concern that there was a 3 day collection period before you start getting charged storage fees, so this needed to be sorted quickly.
I kept calling back to ask for an update to which it would either go to a full VM box, on hold for an hour plus each time or hung up on mid sentence. We then received the £50 in our account, despite having very clearly stated several times we refused their offer and wanted to collect our car.
We have since not been able to get through or get anymore answers. The DVLA says our cars record doesn't exist anymore so there is nothing we can do.
Wasn't even about the money in the end, it's just the principle, that a well advertised company and site like this is getting away with it.
