The softest, driest, most comfortable socks you've ever worn. Olive & Jet harnesses the natural magic of alpaca fibre — incredibly soft, naturally moisture-wicking, and temperature-regulating in a way synthetic fibres simply can't match. Feel the difference.

Olive & Jet Socks

I purchased two pair of the Alpaca socks. Waited some time for them to arrive, then found out that there is more acrylic than alpaca product in the fabric. I paid over $30 each, and it is a complete rip off. I am not sending the socks back because I can't be bothered with the back and forward correspondence it would take to retrieve even a part refund. I had suspected this would happen, even before I read previous reviews.

Hi Pam,

Thank you for sharing your feedback — we genuinely appreciate it, even when it's hard to hear.

We want to address the fabric blend concern directly, because it's something we feel strongly about. Our socks are made from 45% Alpaca Fibre, 45% Nylon, and 10% Spandex — and that's a very deliberate choice, not a cost-cutting one.

Alpaca is an extraordinary fibre — softer than cashmere, warmer than wool, and naturally moisture-wicking. But on its own, it lacks the stretch and structural durability needed for a sock that holds its shape and lasts through real use. That's why we blend it with nylon (for strength and longevity) and spandex (for a flexible, snug fit that doesn't sag or slip).

This isn't unique to us — if you look at the composition of socks from leading performance and natural fibre brands like Icebreaker, Macpac, or Kathmandu, you'll find they all use similar blends for exactly the same reasons. A 100% alpaca or wool sock simply wouldn't survive everyday wear the way a well-engineered blend does.

We're sorry the socks didn't meet your expectations, and we're sorry you felt the experience wasn't worth reaching out about. Our team is always happy to make things right — no drawn-out back and forth needed. If you'd like to revisit that, please reach out to us at support@oliveandjet.com and we'll sort something out for you quickly.

Socks were done in two months

These socks were marketed as tougher than merino with a 90 day comfort guarantee. Neither claim is true. I have merino socks that are a couple years old with no issues. When I contacted the company after about 8 weeks stating my socks were badly worn, I was told there is no 90 day guarantee it is a comfort guarantee. You are only permitted to try them with light use around your home for a day or two. Pardon? Save your money.

Hey Kelly,

Thanks for your message — and I do want to clear this up properly.

We absolutely stand by our returns policy, but it’s important to be clear on how it works. The 99-day guarantee is a comfort guarantee, which means you can try them on at home — give them a short walk, see how they feel — and if they’re not right, you can return them.

What it doesn’t cover is extended, heavy use over multiple weeks. Once socks have been worn extensively (hiking, etc.), they’re no longer in returnable condition — that’s outlined in our policy.

That said — what you’ve described around durability in ~8 weeks doesn’t sound right either, and we don’t want you left with something you’re unhappy with.

If you flick us an email at angus@oliveandjet.com
, we’re happy to take a proper look at this and sort something out 👍

Misleading Advertising and Product

I ordered Alpaca socks from this company as they advertised that they were selling an Alpaca product from New Zealand. I received the socks and the tag said 45% Alpaca with 55% acylic and nylon. They were also made in China. I tried one on and my feet instantly felt claustrophobic. This tells me that the composition of the socks was more synthetic than natural. I contacted the to return and they said we'll give you 35% off to keep them. I looked at the postage cost to send them back and it was almost the exact same price they offered off so I knew this was a grift. They make money by keeping the difference etc. The socks probably cost $3 and they profit by the $60 they keep etc. Do not buy from this fraudulent company. They mislead you and you'll be unhappy.

After reading the company's response on Mar. 18, 2026 I would like to add that I have replied to them with these same unhappy comments when they sent me a review after my purchase. I have not yet received a reply? Also, if you go to their web page or look at their advertising, you'll not find any mention of China, but you'll be left with the impression that the socks are from New Zealand and you won't find any mention of a blended Alpaca sock made with acrylic and polyester. That's only apparent once you buy the socks and you read the label. I would appreciate an opportunity to resolve these complaints with the option to receive a full refund including postage.

Hi Lucielle,

We're saddened to read this, and we want to respond honestly and openly.

Our socks are made from 45% Alpaca Fibre, 45% Nylon, and 10% Spandex — a blend that's clearly listed on our product pages and on the tag you received. We understand the disappointment if you were expecting a higher alpaca content, but this is the same approach taken by respected natural fibre brands like Icebreaker, Macpac, and Kathmandu. Alpaca on its own lacks the stretch and durability required for a sock built for real, everyday use. The blend is a deliberate quality decision, not a deceptive one.

On manufacturing: yes, our socks are produced in China — as is the vast majority of the global apparel industry, including many premium and heritage brands. Olive & Jet was born in New Zealand, and that's where our story, our values, and our team are rooted. We chose our Shanghai manufacturing partner deliberately — they are an absolutely world-class facility that works with some of the biggest brand names in the industry and have more experience producing alpaca socks than arguably any other manufacturer in the world. We wanted to work with the best, and we believe we have. As a fast-growing brand now expanding into international markets, we're covering express shipping routes out of Shanghai with an average delivery window of 6–7 days — and we're transparent about that.

The 35% refund offer was a genuine gesture of goodwill — we'd rather find a solution than leave a customer unhappy. We understand the return postage felt like it offset that, and we hear that frustration. But the intent was never anything other than to do right by you.

Calling us fraudulent is a serious claim, and one we respectfully but firmly reject. We are a small, fast-growing brand that started in New Zealand and is now serving customers across the world. We care deeply about the trust our customers place in us.

If you'd like to resolve this properly, please reach out at support@oliveandjet.com — we'll make it right, quickly and without fuss.

Very disappointing purchase experience..

These socks feel beautifully soft (45% alpaca, the rest synthetic) but that's where my positive experience ends. If you are a woman who takes a size 7 in UK, ignore their misleading guidance on what size sock to buy and get a L, NOT XL. The XL bunch up in my boots and because they're too big, they rub and make my feet sore. They also have a loose leg fitting. I bought the crew socks so that I wouldn't show any leg when I'm wearing my 'ankle-grazer' trousers in Winter but they just fall down, so I'm showing my legs anyway! The company owner told me to return them for an exchange but at MY expense (postage to New Zealand!), even though their sales ad told me to buy a size XL, which was wrong information. Not wanting to pay hefty postal charges, they offered to make amends by giving me a small refund but they still don't understand that a small refund for socks I can't wear is pointless and these socks aren't cheap, even when on special offer, so a total waste of money (I purchased 8 pairs).

Arriving efficiency OS...A lot to prove at $$.

Well my order arrived. Didn't take too long considering they travelled from China to Australia (regional country town). They fit my UK size 13 foot (XXL sock size) well. Feel good, was a little shocked they are only 45% Alpaca and 55% synthetic (4 different variants).
We will have to wait and see how they test the daily work day in the work boots, 5 days a week? I bought the bulk pack (pay 4 get 4 free, with a first time customer discount) working out at $17 per pair. So they have a lot to prove....

These socks are lovely.

These socks are lovely.
I was very unsure about the company to begin with due to the fact it took so long to receive them. I did email them and was 100% guaranteed that they were legitimate.
I’m very pleased with the quality and feel of the socks.
I generally buy bridgedale and thought I’d give them a go, I haven’t washed them yet(got 3 pairs) so can’t say how they will come out.
I can’t see any reason to mistrust the company. My partner is very fussy about socks and drives me nuts, he likes them for the softness and feel.

Best customer service ever !

Best customer service ever. I ordered socks and there was a delivery problem at my end (not any fault of Olive and Jet!). I was given a second delivery with an extra free pair and I was impressed. This is excellent and I really appreciated their offer. Best socks ever! Cosy, warm, soft, easy to put on. And even better, warm
feet. I highly recommend! They wash well retaining shape and size!
