Oliver Brown Reviews 

Unfortunately I have to echo the sentiments of some of the previous reviews regarding Oliver Brown’s online service. I ordered 2 products on 30 November 2022, over a week later, nothing. I have sent numerous emails and telephone calls. No-one answers the calls and you are asked to leave a message. On my most recent call the answer phone message now states the in-box is full so the caller is unable to leave a message. I really needed the items by 8 December 2022 (tomorrow) which I think is a completely reasonable timescale for delivery. Barring a Christmas miracle, that would seem unlikely. I would not have minded if I’d had received an email reply stating I would need to wait an extra few days for delivery but it’s the no response to emails and calls that is the most frustrating part of my order. Very disappointed. (Order no.2179)

I purchased a dinner jacket online having attempted to speak to the right person three - four times with no answer over the course of five days.

There was an urgency about this as I had three evenings where it was required and my old one seemed to have shrunk!

It arrived late, so I missed the first event. When it did arrive the box was severely damaged and the jacket, which was wet, presumably from rain water, was wrapped in a single piece of Oliver Brown green wrapping paper which is no where near adequate and it was barely covering the jacket.

On the plus side, the quality of the jacket is superb, as is the cut. It looks every bit as good as anything tailored.

Update: got a call from the MD to apologise and put things right, so faith restored.

Original review for transparency: the customer service is absolutely terrible (this is in relation to suit hire). Nobody could confirm that my tux was ready when I called on the day (Friday) that I needed it for collection. As a result, I needed to make another plan (which I did). When I phoned to get an update and/or cancel my tux (on Friday!), I was told a team member would get in touch. They got in touch only today (Monday) and told me that I cannot cancel after the event (pickup date - Friday!!). When I explained that this was due to negligence on their part, they told me that there was absolutely nothing that they could do. Basically, and contractually, they have taken my money without offering a service.

I would strongly recommend that if you do hire a suit from here, you do it weeks or months in advance. I cannot believe the manner with which this was handled and will definitely not use them again for any of my needs.

Their online service is awful, they don't reply to emails, when you try and call them you can never get through and speak to someone. My online experience of dealing with them has now put me off going instore, whereas in the past when I have gone instore I found their face to face service to be good. For a store which is at the higher end of the market they really need to sort out their online and customer services as it is letting the brand reputation down.

I am a big fan of 'traditional' looking dinner suits, and upon noticing that Oliver Brown use barathea, but describe their suits as fitted, I ordered an ex-rental.

In fairness, their website suggests ordering a size smaller than usual, and so perhaps not surprisingly the 42R jacket I ordered was pretty big on me.

The trousers, however, are a different story. The website says fitted, and the picture of the model wearing the suits, clearly shows a tailored, slim fit suit.

I was thus pretty surprised when a pair of trousers measuring 24.5'' across at the hem, and 29'' across the thigh turned up in the post. As a comparison, a standard (non-skinny) pair of suit trousers will measure 19-20.5'' at the hem.

They are simply huge, (and I say this as someone with big thighs, who normally finds trousers quite tight), and because they have a pleat, there is a limit to how much they can be taken in.

My gripe is that they bear NO relation to what the model is wearing, and can in no way be described as tailored, or fitted.

The quality is fine, and they have a traditional feel to them, but I haven't seen suit trousers styled like this since the 1950's, hence it makes me wonder how old they are.

Sadly, I cannot return them , because I asked them to take the hem up. Given the above, I believed I would be getting a pair of trousers that were wearable, with a few tweaks here and there.

Oliver Brown should be far more transparent.
