Colin was our wine consultant for the evening and he was amazing! He knew so much about each of the wines, ports and liquers and even more! We also loved how much he told us about each one and bits about his background. #wineandcrime for the win. We had never done anything like this before and are already considering our next booking with him! Thank you so much for an amazing evening x

Thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Al was very knowledgable and we were able to sample 12 wines which we were asked to mark on preference. We would have them all again! Would have no hesitation in hosting another wine tasting evening and recommending this to our friends.

Thanks you Louise Saunders for coming to do the wine tasting on Friday evening to celebrate our upcoming girlies Fiftieth birthdays. Louise was a great representative and very knowledgable. We tasted 12 wines, a port and a liquer. Well worth having a wine tasting, wines were fab. Would highly recommend.

Excellent!! Lovely wines but the only concern was the bottles of wines were a bit pricey as was originally told prices start at £9 when I brought the vouchers. They actually start from £18, though I must say some of the best wines I've ever tasted.

We had a great time wine tasting at my friend’s house in Exeter! Lewis was fabulous - he was super knowledgeable and friendly and we will definitely be booking him again! Our night was filled with wines from different countries around the World, alongside Alexa playing tunes to fit the wines... Kylie Minogue, The Final Countdown and Goodbye My Lover to name a few! Listen wine tasting with Lewis was the best thing I’ve done this year! He was so professional and made the evening very enjoyable. The wines were beautiful and I was so surprised by the Chardonnay which I loved. I will be seeing Lewis again! Such a good deal!

We have just had our second wine tasting with Al and had another amazing evening. We invited him to come for my Dad’s 60th so we could treat him to some nice bottles of wine! Al is so lovely, and we always have such a fab evening. His knowledge of wine and the company is fantastic and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him to others. We buy all our nice wine through Al now and I love Pieroth wines.

We had a fantastic evening on Saturday enjoying my birthday present of a Wine Tasting evening. Jackie was so professional from the first contact to the last. Her knowledge of the wines was outstanding also her pronunciations of all the wines was a real education. I was expecting a little sip of a few wines but this was not the case - there was a good measure of 12 wines to choose from. There was no heavy sales and we didn't feel under pressure to have to buy any wines - however we did as they were lovely. Well done Jackie really lovely evening.

A while back, when attending the BBC Good Food expo in Birmingham, I purchased two wine tasting experience vouchers from the Pieroth stand. Thought these would make for a couple of evenings of pleasant entertainment and nice nibbles with friends,and an opportunity to sample a range of wines within the comfort of our own home. We had our visit last night. Not quite what I was hoping for....

Whilst the gentleman who visited was very affable, in fact it's clear now that I'd paid for the privilege of a home sales call - and the tasting experience was really a try-before-you-buy exercise with an expectation that those attending would be putting their names to the bottom of an order form at the end of the evening. We sampled fourteen wines (seven white, seven red) although the "sample" was just two or three sips each time, and all out of the same glass (I had provide four glasses for each guest and expected to do some rinsing up in between).

What I wish I'd know before I'd booked this, and arranged for friends to visit, was that the cheapest wine in the lineup was £17.38 (inc VAT), with the prices running through to £27.59 for the Rioja presented - between two and three times what I (and they) would usually spend. Pieroth won't supply a mixed case, so it's a minimum of six bottles of whatever and then to top it all there's a tenner delivery charge to add to the bottom. Frankly if I'd known this in advance I wouldn't have booked. We all found the wines we sampled to be fine although at those prices they ought to be.

When the last few sips had been taken, and after we'd been advised of all of the prices, there was an embarrassing silence when the rep asked which ones we preferred and how many we'd like to order; a case or half a case (a classic sales technique). A few seconds with a pen and I'd calculated that a case of the Rioja clocked in at a few pennies over £331. As the host I was left embarrassed at this point as I knew that my friends' pockets, and my own for that matter, just does not run to purchasing wine at these prices. It was all very awkward.

As I've worked in a similar role in the past, and have had nothing to show for spending time with people and many miles of travelling to and from, I did place a token order; six off of one of the whites, and six off of the Rioja (which is one of my favourites at present). The order tallied up to a bit over three hundred quid. I've been promised it'll arrive in the next ten days, although the order confirmation e-mail hasn't made it to my in-box yet (should be automatic and immediate?). As it happens I've just found another 2014 Lobster Bay area Sauvignon Blanc, that Pieroth charged me £24.00 a bottle for, priced at half that (and in US$) by another wine merchant where you can buy online. I'm sure they'll be arguments over quality, which pressing was used, what additional sulfites are added etc etc, but taste-wise I doubt there's anything in it.

I've calculated that the rep's 20% commission on this order was around fifty quid, and with his 12p a mile reimbursement that Pieroth reps receive it means for for his sixty-ish mile round trip, and three hours away from home, he received less than sixty quid. You could tell he was less than impressed with the business he'd written up on this occasion.

All in all then a fairly expensive and embarrassing evening for me (as well as a disappointing one for the rep) and something I won't be repeating. My second wine tasting experience voucher has gone in the bin as I wouldn't want anyone else to experience similar. I'm just waiting for the deluge of sales calls to come in now. One to put down to experience me thinks - should have done my homework on the company at the time when I attended the Good Food show (a mobile phone and Mr Google can elicit a picture very quickly). Hey ho...

A word of advice . . . if anyone reading this is intending to invite Pieroth into their homes, before booking a visit call the customer services team at the company and ask them to send through a price list of lines that they will be presenting. If they're unable or unwilling to do this (for any of a billion different reasons given) or they insist that a rep will need to call you that should put up a red flag. There is absolutely no reason why a customer services desk from a business that operates in a transparent fashion should not have all of the firm's products and prices at their fingertips. When I checked there's no online ordering facility on the web site and no prices to review. For a consumer product business in this day and age I wonder why that might be?

Had a tasting evening at Karen Peacock’s house with Jenny. Jenny was very knowledgable, I didn’t think I actually like white wine, turns out I do! I was very surprised. Lovely wine and you get what you pay for. Looking forward to the no hangover.

Had the most fantastic tasting evening with Al recently! Such a great selection of wines introduced to us by an amazing host. His passion and enthusiasm for what he does and the wines we tasted is undeniable. Relaxed, informative, enjoyable experience with friends! As a red wine drinker, I was surprised at how much I enjoyed the selection of white and rose wines which we also tried - well done Pieroth! My friends and I made several purchases and I've already scheduled my second tasting session with Al and friends which I can't wait for!

Had a great wine tasting evening on 26 Jul with Lewis. This was a gift experience bought by my sister who is also already a Pieroth convert. He arrived promptly and described how we were going on a journey of wine exploration and how we did! Starting with some really interesting sweeter white wines that also had a dry finish we journey through Rose wines on to some luscious reds. The taste buds were certainly exercised and challenged! A lovely evening with 2 of our friends.

Last week, Gini came to our home to give a tasting to 6 of us. It was a very convivial evening. She was enthusiastic and introduced us to a wide range on unusual and interesting wines, some of them unexpected. The final wine was really unusual, being both a sweet and a "normal" wine simultaneously! Two of our number are experienced wine drinkers and have said how much they enjoyed the evening and Gini's introductions to them. Naturally, we preferred some wine to others, but all were good quality.
