How Infrared Therapy Works

I didn't know anythSing about FlexBeam…
I didn't know anything about FlexBeam but learned about it from John Stuart Reid and Julia Frost (on one of his sessions on zoom.) I thought it might help my husband's shoulder issues. But I began using it myself on strained knees, sore back (garden season.) I'm 78 and do have issues sometimes with sore joints.) The FlexBeam has been really helpful. My husband is getting interested in using it too.

Hadde smerter i hoftene/øverst i låret i mange mnd. Mistenkte slimposebetennelse. Måtte "gå meg til" når jeg reiste meg opp for å gå. Prøvde FlexBeam 10 minutter på det verste låret èn gang. Reiste meg opp og hadde INGEN smerter der!! Helt utrolig!

There should be a warning on this…
There should be a warning on this device! I followed the directions completely. I had a herniated disc and used it a handful of times (not more than 4 or 5 times). I will REGRET for the rest of my life ever using this device! It apparently blew up my disc so badly that for 4+ months following using the device I had to walk at 90 degrees and was in excruciating pain. It did the complete OPPOSITE of what I had expected, undoing any and ALL progress I had made of going to the chiropractor for 3x/week for the previous 6 weeks. I would NEVER use it again. The infrared lights are extremely strong and not everyone should use this!
Update:
Although I stand by what I wrote above, I would give 5 stars for the follow-up that Dr. Zulia provided after reading my review. They seem to be a company genuinely interested in healing people's health. I appreciated the further instruction and follow-up she provided for my back, which was still needing to heal. Thank you Dr. Zulia!

At the same time, I’d like to offer some important clarification, both for your understanding and for others reading this:
1. In over five years of FlexBeam being on the market — used by thousands of individuals across 60+ countries — we have never received a report like this. This makes your case highly unusual and deeply concerning, and we do not take it lightly.
2. Many people with acute and chronic disc conditions — including herniated discs — have reported remarkable pain relief and functional recovery using FlexBeam. This includes top-level athletes and individuals with complex back histories.
3. That said, photobiomodulation does not have the capacity to "blow up" a disc — it cannot heat or damage tissue at the intensities used in FlexBeam. The device emits non-thermal red and near-infrared light, which does not heat tissue from the inside. The physics of light absorption at these wavelengths (635–810 nm) simply does not allow for such an effect. These wavelengths are specifically tuned to stimulate mitochondria, encouraging cellular repair and circulation — not swelling, inflammation or structural damage. This is entirely different from high-power infrared heat lamps or surgical lasers. The pain response you describe may have been triggered by pre-existing instability or an unrelated internal event that coincided with your usage.
4. Our printed guide is deliberately general, as each condition can be highly individual. For disc-related issues specifically, we offer detailed protocols in our membership forum, and our support team is always available to guide users through sensitive or complex cases. We strongly encourage anyone who notices an unexpected or worsening reaction to pause use and reach out immediately. This is always stated in our user materials.
5. In rare cases, people may have heightened sensitivity to red and near-infrared light. This is not always congenital — it can develop due to medications, chemical exposures, or underlying metabolic stress. We include this caution in our public materials and training, and in your case, it may have contributed to an exaggerated response.
Nonetheless, we are taking your case seriously. While we cannot confirm that FlexBeam caused this reaction, we will be updating our user guides with clearer cautions for those with complex spinal issues or unknown sensitivities, and improving access to individualized guidance.

Post-gardening back pain relief
The day after my Flexbeam came, I overdid it gardening. My back was quite sore, but just one round of the lower back protocol took care of all the pain. Before I had Flexbeam, it would have taken the better part of a week to work through a back strain and get rid of the pain.

No effect
Unit didnt work for me, no change after testing, and poor battery life. Wanted to return within 60 days, and it took almost a week to recieve the shipping label.

Great results. We like the device and are receiving the benefits for reduction of back pain and improved circulation in lower legs. The fit is adjustable for anywhere on the body. We like the different plug exchange parts that allow us to take the device on foreign travels.

Waiting to see positive results
I have been using the Flex-Beam for two months focusing mainly upon my hip joints to assist the restoration of hip cartilage ... I have had to adjust the frequency {less} and power level {down} of the red light therapy, because I was feeling more tenderness and pain in those areas giving the impression I was regressing.
