As a small growing business we have to cover costs, On this occasion we have refunded your £29.99 and will absorb the costs.

At Repairs By Post, we aim for transparency in all our communications and pricing. Our website clearly details our pricing structure and notes that while we offer free initial quotations, there is a nominal fee for the return postage and insurance of watches when a repair is not commissioned. This fee is strictly to cover part of our outlays in ensuring your watch is returned safely and securely.

Regarding the repair of your vintage Rotary watch, it's important to acknowledge that the expertise and parts required for vintage repairs can be costly in 2024, often exceeding the expectations of those not regularly engaging with the market. While we understand that your previous retired repairer may have charged less, their pricing structure does not reflect the current market conditions. The rarity of watch repairers skilled in restoring vintage watches has become increasingly apparent, which influences the cost structure today, costs for quality vintage repairs have increased in line with industry standards, reflecting both the skill involved and the rarity of parts.

We offered to work with your budget by suggesting your amount as a deposit, which reflects our commitment to customer satisfaction despite the financial impracticality on our part. Unfortunately, the complete restoration you hoped for was not feasible within the £100 limit, including VAT, that you specified.

Please rest assured, our warranties are honoured rigorously even after 21-months into a 24-month guarantee in cases of mechanical service faults arising from the repairs we undertake and not negligence. Your satisfaction is crucial to us, and we are here to ensure your TAG Heuer functions perfectly.

Regarding the issue with the day/date function of your TAG Heuer, we genuinely understand the importance of this watch to you, especially given its personal value and history. As previously discussed, our assessment concluded that the malfunction was due to incorrect settings that unfortunately fall outside our standard warranty coverage. This type of damage is a common occurrence but can be avoided by adjusting the settings outside the critical hours as outlined on the official TAG Heuer website and your instruction manual when purchased.

Despite this, we aimed to assist you by offering a partial repair as a gesture of goodwill beyond any other services offered elsewhere. We strive to be fair and supportive, even when the warranty terms do not cover specific circumstances.

I regret to hear about your difficulty reaching our customer service team by phone. We acknowledge that delays can happen, especially during peak times, and we are actively working to improve our response times.But hope our immediate response via email answered your queries. You could have always made a phone call appointment where our team will call you back at a more convenient time if we are busy.

Thank you for your feedback. We deeply regret that your experience with Repairs by Post was not up to the standard we strive to maintain.

To clarify the situation, After we assesed the damaged case issues we initially had to send your watch to Movado distributors in the UK. Unfortunately, they went into liquidation during this period. After retrieving your watch, we forwarded it to the new distributors, who also had to wait for a response from Movado in the USA. This process inevitably took time and involved administrative costs, reflected in the £19.99 + VAT charge for returning your watch.

At no point during the registration did you mention that you had already contacted Movado directly, until our phone call, which could have saved us all considerable time and effort. We always ask for any repair history in the early stages to avoid such situations.

As the watch is not repairable, we offered to dispose of it to avoid any further expenses for you. This service is free of charge. Should you not prefer this option, we offer to return your watch, as mentioned in our previous communication. We are truly sorry that this also upset you.

We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused and for any communication issues you encountered. Our aim is always to provide the best possible service to our customers.
