Amazing experience from start to finish, very well run
Rugby boys had a great time

Great organisation of the rugby tournament with quality referees and all running to time. Accommodation was great at the riverside camping site. One of the best rugby tournaments we have attended. Many thanks for organising 💪💪

Accommodation was good and not too far from where matches were played. Matches were pretty much run to schedule with referees who were fair and friendly.

This is our 2nd rugby tour with Revel Rugby with our amazing U13’s squad. I can honestly say that we have had the BEST time on both tours. This year our accommodation was based at Riverside Holiday Park, which was brilliant and only 20 minutes away from Cheddar Valley RFC for the tournament. I would highly recommend Revel Rugby if you’re looking for a well organised tour for your team(s) - you will NOT be disappointed. Well done Revel - looking forward to next year already 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Excellently organised event, which mostly ran to time (which is difficult to do). Well refereed, all the medic stuff & well managed presentation of medals/trophies at the end. Top tour.

What an amazing weekend. Perfect communication from day one of booking with regular updates, lovely accommodation at riverside holiday park where perminent residents were very welcoming along with all staff going above and beyond to accommodate. Very well organised festival with very helpful medical staff aswell as the refereeing being on point for everyone of our games. From Gowerton RFC we would like to as a touring Welsh club thank everyone involved in the organisation of a brilliant Tour and a massive thanks to all the teams we played. This is our second time using REVEL and won’t be looking to use anyone else for the foreseeable⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Great tour, really well organised. Easy check in on site, great facilities at the caravan park, really warm welcome and really accommodating for a large group.
Tournament itself was very professional,ran to time, excellent facilities onsite. Excellent referees and lovely atmosphere. Our second Revel tour and we all really enjoyed again.

Fantastic from start to finish! Wonderful accommodation and evening entertainment. Superb rugby on both days, organised amazingly! Great experience for the players. A huge thanks to John, Jodie and all at Revel Rugby!

Camping was great and highly recommend mendip clean toilets good showers for a campsite staff all very nice views fantastic. The rugby was great the lads had a very tough group but played in great spirit and iam sure they will benefit alot from the experience which is what it's all about really . The guys and girls at chedder rugby club warm and friendly.

What a great tour!!! The boys had so much fun and the whole thing was very well organised from start to finish. We've done a few with Revel and they are always well organised with great facilities & fab matches. Would definitely book again the revel team are only happy to help. One thing that stood out this year was one ref Scott possibly one of the best refs I've ever had on a tour and that's saying something having being a coach for over a decade !!

We had an extremely disappointing experience with Revel Rugby Festival, and I would strongly advise others to think twice before booking.

The biggest issue was the lack of clear and accurate information. We were only told three weeks before the event that this was a rugby union tournament, not rugby league. There is no clear mention of this on their website or in their terms and conditions. For teams preparing based on a completely different code of rugby, this is completely unacceptable and misleading.

Another major problem was transport. The website clearly stated that shuttle transfers would be provided to and from the venue if booked in early, which was around 40 minutes away. We booked in August 2025!! However, we were later told this could not be accommodated due to staffing and fuel costs. As a result, we had to arrange and pay for our own coach at an additional cost of nearly £600 for just two days. To make matters worse, we only played one game on the Saturday, meaning the transport wasn’t even fully needed, yet we were unable to get any refund.
The fixtures were only released four days before the event, which is far too late. Had we known earlier, we could have cancelled unnecessary arrangements and avoided extra costs.

Communication and organisation throughout were poor, stressful, and frustrating. We requested a refund for the event due to the late and misleading information, but this was refused because it fell within their 70-day cancellation window, despite the fact that key details were only given to us within that period. It feels like very unfair practice.

We also paid over £1000 for a caravan that realistically would have cost £400–£500 elsewhere. There was absolutely nothing about the experience that justified this price, leaving us questioning where the rest of the money went.

The venue itself was run down and disappointing. The food on offer was poor quality. On Saturday, we played just one game (credit to Olney for a great match and for helping explain things to our lads who play rugby league). Sunday consisted of four games, followed by what can only be described as a very underwhelming presentation, a small stage where nobody could hear anything, a quick medal handout, and that was it.

The only positive aspect of the whole weekend was how we managed to make the experience enjoyable for the kids despite everything else.

Overall, Revel Festival was a SHAMBLES!!!! Poorly organised, poorly communicated, and not worth the money at all. If you’re considering booking for next year, DON'T. Save your money and look for a festival that offers professionalism and value for what you pay.

Please do not consider booking with this provider. I am sure you will see numerous reviews about the weekend of 2nd /3rd May 2026 in Ellesmere Port / Rhyl and I agree with everyone’s frustrations and disappointment. It is extremely poorly organised and the food/drink/facilities were not what we expected or what I have experienced at other tournaments.

The ‘two day tournament’ consisted of 1 game on the Saturday and 4 games on the Sunday (against the same 2 clubs and children!). The other clubs (Olney, Wrexham and Rhyl) were absolutely brilliant and all the kids made the most of it.

The lack of attendance from the Revel owners was not surprising at all.

Where do I even begin…

From start to finish, this experience was deeply frustrating and far below expectations. We are a rugby league team and only discovered around three weeks before the event that this was actually a Rugby Union festival. This was not made clear at the time of booking, which understandably caused major concerns so close to the event, especially as we only received confirmation from Revel it was a union event 3 weeks prior to arriving which meant it fell outside of their T&Cs for refund conveniently.

Communication throughout was poor and, at times, felt dismissive. Responses often came back generic and failed to address the actual questions being asked, leaving us repeatedly chasing for clarity on basic but important points.

The event itself was advertised as a two-day festival. In reality, one of those days involved a single game, combined with a 45-minute journey to the venue. That is not what most people would reasonably expect when booking and paying for a two-day rugby festival.

Transport added further confusion. The website referenced a free shuttle service for early bookings. We booked in August 2025, yet were later told this did not qualify, as the offer only applied to an earlier period—something that was not clearly communicated at the time. This kind of inconsistency only added to the growing list of concerns.

From a value-for-money perspective, the costs were significant. When comparing accommodation prices separately, it raises serious questions about what the additional spend actually covered. The overall setup felt very basic—limited structure, minimal additional activities, and facilities that did not reflect the price paid.

On the ground, organisation appeared inconsistent. There were times where there was little visible coordination, and when issues arose, they were not always addressed promptly or effectively. For an event that has reportedly been running for several years, the level of delivery was surprising.

That said, the one clear positive was the team itself. The boys showed great resilience, adapting to a different code and still performing to a high standard. We made the experience enjoyable ourselves, despite the circumstances. Credit also to Olney RFC, who were welcoming and a pleasure to interact with.

Overall, this was an experience that not live up to expectations in multiple areas, and unfortunately one we would not repeat.

We booked with Revel Rugby in August, believing we were attending a tournament based near Talacre Beach. Unfortunately, the experience from booking through to the event was extremely disappointing.

Despite having already paid, £1,400 was taken from my account without warning in February, taking 5 days to be returned. Less than two weeks later, a further £500 was taken despite requesting that all stored payment details be removed. This was later blamed on their payment provider, but it caused significant stress and loss of trust.

We then discovered the tournament was actually in Ellesmere Port—closer to our home than the accommodation we had booked. Transport had been advertised throughout as included, but we were later told this was no longer available due to the cost of living, and we would receive just £130 towards transport for the entire team. We had to organise and pay for our own coach.

After arranging transport, we were then informed our accommodation was not Talacre Beach as originally believed, but Marine Holiday Park in Rhyl. To be fair, the park itself and staff were great—this is not a reflection on them—but it added to the confusion and lack of clarity from Revel Rugby.

Communication throughout was extremely poor. Messages and emails were often ignored, leaving parents frustrated and even questioning whether the company was legitimate.

We also only discovered very late that this is a Rugby Union tournament, while our team plays Rugby League. This is not clearly stated on their website. When we raised concerns, we were simply told “as long as the kids enjoy it, they will be fine,” which didn’t address valid safeguarding and insurance concerns.

Fixtures were only released less than a week before the event. Despite being advertised as a 2-day tournament, we had just one game on the Saturday (after arranging a full coach), followed by several very short games on the Sunday.

The venue itself was very run down. Facilities, particularly the women’s toilets, were in a poor and unhygienic condition. Aside from a small food/drink offering, there was nothing else provided for the children across the weekend.

At the end, the event concluded with minimal recognition—just a quick announcement and medals before everyone left.

Overall, the experience was disorganised, poorly communicated, and at times misleading. Based on our experience, I would strongly advise others to consider alternative providers.

Clearly designed to create the illusion of a “holiday with a rugby festival” at Ellesmere Port RFC. Unfortunately my son in the U8’s had half his games against U7’s, and when I say half that was 2… but that’s ok because the chap from Revel told me there wasn’t much difference between the two age groups…..! An Ellesmere Port RFC member told me that Revel kept asking for teams from them (their grounds but they fielded no teams) but there was a 7’s tournament on the same weekend every year in EP - this weekend - but Revel went ahead with the “festival” anyway.

The suspicions were raised as to the quality of Revel when they changed our accommodation address AFTER we had booked.

Basically for a “festival” there we very few teams, 1 solitary guy selling coffee, and chips were available in the clubhouse. Clearly we were just a money spinner for Revel but the experience from start to finish was garbage.
