Great tournament. Well organised. Kids and adults alike enjoyed.

Went to see our grandsons play in the tournament on May 2nd and 3rd at Whitby Rugby Club . Absolutely awful- paid over £1000 to stay in a mediocre caravan as we were moved from our original venue. These people could not organise a spider race. Appalling - coaches having to referee all the matches and not a sighting of the reps. They charge too much money for a terrible experience. Total rip off company DO NOT BOOK WITH THEM!

What an amazing company! John, Jodie and the team did a brilliant job organising our Under 9s’ first rugby tour which was for 3 nights. Everything ran so smoothly, was well organised, and always on time. The locations chosen for the tour and campsite were fantastic.
The facilities were brilliant, with a pool, clubhouse activities including kids’ bingo, adult bingo, party games, and an arcade for the children. The food and drinks were beautiful and very reasonably priced too.
A huge thank you to everyone involved for making it such a memorable experience for the kids and parents alike. Highly recommend!

2 day rugby tour.

What a fantastic experience from start to finish ! This was our second year with Revel and they never disappoint. Looking forward to next year.

We attended the Cheshire Revel Rugby tour with our child's U8 team in May 2026 and found it to be a very disappointing experience.

When booking, we were really pleased that we'd be staying at Talacre Bay, on the beach and with a fun swimming pool and slides. Upon learning of "a mistake" (by Revel) and being moved to a park nowhere near the beach, my son was crying all night.

There was nothing wrong with the accommodation we did stay in but it was not what we originally chose and the price we paid to Revel didn't reflect in the accommodation.

The tournament itself was the main grievance. Timings were only confirmed late on the evening before and we were not greeted by anyone from Revel or directed to the pitches. It felt like we arrived and then, "here's a field bye bye".

At rugby festivals arranged independently by clubs, you expect an array of catering options but there were barely food stands at the tournament and they were really really far away at the edge of the field. The food options in the club house were different variations of chips and some canned hot dogs. Some of the toilets in the club left a lot to be desired. They smelled like when my son leaves his dirty socks in his room for 5 months.

Matches were not coordinated by Revel, team coaches had to do this themselves and referee the games. It is unforgivable that games were arranged to be played between teams of different age groups, how is it fair for 6 year olds to play against 8 year olds? Other teams didn't return on the Sunday for this very reason. The one other U8 team that did come back had to play against all 3 of our teams.

Please, please, don't book. Terrible experience.

We had a fantastic weekend at our son’s rugby tournament. The weekend was well organised and fun was at the forefront.

We recently attended a festival and had a fantastic experience from start to finish. The event was really well organised, with everything running smoothly throughout the day.

There were plenty of teams involved, which meant the kids got lots of game time. The atmosphere was great, well structured, and kept everyone engaged.

A big credit to everyone involved in organising it. The kids had a brilliant time, and that’s what it’s all about. We’d happily attend again in the future.

Disappointing, overpriced and poorly organised Revel rugby festival!

We attended the Revel Rugby Festival at Ellesmere Port in May 2026 and, unfortunately, the entire experience was extremely disappointing from start to finish.

The issues began long before we arrived. Our accommodation was changed at the last minute to accommodation that was approximately a 45-minute coach journey away from the festival site, despite the event being booked many months in advance. Communication throughout was poor, with very limited explanation or support provided, leaving many families frustrated and uncertain.

The accommodation itself was extremely expensive for what was offered, and after already paying significant costs we then had to fund additional coach transport ourselves due to changes and confusion around shuttle services and transport arrangements. The overall weekend represented very poor value for money.

The organisation of the festival was equally poor. There was no real festival atmosphere or spirit throughout the weekend — it felt flat, disorganised and lacking any visible coordination.

Our team played only one game on Saturday, followed by four games on Sunday against the same teams repeatedly, which was completely underwhelming for the children after travelling and paying so much to attend. There were also no referees provided, meaning coaches had to step in and officiate matches themselves.

There appeared to be very few teams attending across several age groups, resulting in repetitive fixtures and mismatched games. Coaches were left arranging things between themselves with little support or structure from Revel organisers.

Facilities on site were also extremely poor. Food and drink options were minimal, toilets were in an unacceptable condition for a family event, and there was little entertainment or activity outside of the rugby itself.

Overall, this was by far the worst organised rugby festival we have attended. The event was exceptionally expensive, lacked professionalism, and failed to deliver the experience that was advertised and paid for.

Given the significant costs incurred, the poor organisation, and the changes made after booking, we will also be seeking compensation through the appropriate legal channels.

I would not recommend booking with Revel Rugby Clubs and will not attend another event organised by them.

Well organised, both the rugby and accommodation. Two great days of rugby, and caravan site was perfect for our team.

Such a poorly organised “festival”. We attended the Revel Rugby Festival at Ellesmere Port on 2nd and 3rd May 2026. For starters, the most disgusting toilets I have ever come across, the food and drink options were nothing. Then the rugby, if we hadn’t brought the amount of children we did there wouldn’t have been much in our age group at all. There was hardly any teams actually participating in this event, on day two of our tour we had 1 other team remaining to play against because all of the others had gone. The only reason we returned for day two was to not let the other team down. The campsite Revel put us on was not only an hours travel each way from the event, it couldn’t even cater properly for the teams. If our team hadn’t done such a brilliant job with organising themselves outside of this event, the weekend would have been one expensive mistake. Wouldn’t book with this company again.

We recently attended a rugby festival organised by Revel Rugby Clubs at Ellesmere Port over the May bank holiday weekend, and unfortunately the entire experience was extremely disappointing from start to finish.

The issues began before we even arrived. Our originally booked accommodation was changed at the last minute—on the very day final payments were due. Very little information was provided about the replacement, leaving many families feeling pressured to pay in full or risk losing their place. This created unnecessary stress and uncertainty.

The organisation of the festival itself was equally poor. My son, playing in the Under-7s and attending his first-ever rugby festival, had a very underwhelming experience. On the Saturday, our team played three games against sides that appeared to be made up largely of Under-6 players, resulting in mismatched and uncompetitive fixtures. On the Sunday, no proper matches were arranged for us at all—we were simply told to play against our own club’s Under-8 team, which was clearly not appropriate.

To ensure the children actually got some meaningful playtime, our coaches had to arrange additional matches themselves with other teams. There was no visible coordination from Revel Rugby Clubs throughout the weekend.

The lack of organisation extended across the board:

* No welcome or clear guidance upon arrival
* No coaches’ briefing provided
* Our coach had to referee all of our matches due to lack of officials
* Only one visible representative from Revel over the entire weekend

The medal “ceremony” was also very disappointing. Instead of a structured presentation, medals were simply left on a table for teams to help themselves.

Facilities were another major concern. The sports centre was in a very poor state of repair, and the toilet facilities were unhygienic and unacceptable for a family event. Catering options were extremely limited—just a small coffee van with cakes and some chips from the clubhouse, with no proper food provision.

Finally, the cost raises serious questions. We paid £825 for a “gold” caravan, yet the same accommodation appears to be available for around £426 for that weekend. It is unclear what the additional £400 cost covered, as it certainly was not reflected in the quality or organisation of the festival.

For comparison, we attended another rugby festival just weeks earlier which cost £3.25 to enter, was far better organised, and provided significantly more game time for the children.

Overall, this was a poorly run, overpriced event that failed to deliver even the basics of organisation or value for money. We will not be attending a Revel Rugby Clubs event again and will be raising these concerns further and looking for some compensation.

I highly recommend avoiding using revel to organise your rugby tour.

The day before the final payment was due, they changed the site of our accommodation. I appreciate this is in their T&C's but they provided such limited information about this, and one of the reasons we initially booked as a whole family was that we were due to be situated near the beach. So this was disappointing in itself, but it only got worse. After we had paid the full balance, revel then took an unauthorised £1,400 from my partners bank account. This money was refunded a few days later. We couldn't believe it when a week or so later they took an unauthorised £500 from the account!

The actual rugby festival at Ellesmere port was reslly disappointing. There was not much there at all, very limited food and facilities. The worst bit was that in our u9 age group there were only 3 other teams to play. 2 of which were from the same club!! So our team played the same teams on Saturday and Sunday, which was completely underwhelming.

This was by far the worst rugby festival we have ever attended, and it is disappointing to travel so far and invest money in something that was absolutely not worth the price.

I DO NOT RECOMMEND booking with Revel

Our accommodation was changed at the last minute with bare minimum communication. Any attempted communication with Revel was dismissive and unhelpful.

For an event booked months in advance, nothing was organised and it all felt like a scam for money.

After paying a small fortune for a very basic caravan park with minimal facilities we still had to travel over 45 minutes to the festival and was charged for parking at a location Revel arranged that was still a 10 minute walk across a very busy main road to the festival (not the end of the world but we have young children and a lot of kit to bring and considering the amount of money we had already paid to be there Revel could have factored in that cost and thought more of the location of parking. Dangerous.) From speaking to other teams they were offered free transport to festival site which we weren’t even after being moved to a different caravan park last minute which was further away.

We arrived at the festival and were completely left to our own devices. Two revel members on site who quite literally had nothing to do with us over the entirety of the weekend. Our U8’s team only had three games on Saturday and they were against U7’s teams and was expected to play just one game on Sunday against the same team as the day before. We ended up playing ourselves several times just to make the 45 minute trip from the caravan park worth while for us. We were a big team and there would literally be no festival without our presence that weekend.

The venue for the festival was definitely not suitable. The toilet facilities were filled with junk, black mould everywhere, stunk to high heaven and not fully functioning. Had to buy a portable potty for my 3 year old because she was mortified by the state of it and refused to go. Catering was nearly non existent. Chips available from the social club and one man serving coffee from a little van in the back corner.

Such a disappointing festival

We’ve been to several other festivals NOT hosted by revel and they were far better. Our own club has also hosted festivals so to pay a fortune for a weekend of this low quality in all aspects is really disappointing.

Revel Rugby doesn't even deserve the 1star I had to give to leave this review.

Absolutely terrible experience. I think there were two people from revel rugby at the event, neither of which introduced themselves nor did they run the 'rugby tournament ' if you can even call it that.

There was one food stall there. Which was located at the furthest away point. Lucky for us our organisers had lunches ready for all the children.
The place where it was held was shabby and the toilets were disgusting, clearly they had not been cleaned between the first and second day either.

Now to the rugby.... the Saturday was against 3 other teams. However the starting times changed 3 times and we ended up starting an hour earlier than planned; though they only told us this late on the Friday night.
The matches were not even supported by Revel but by the coaches from the rugby teams as no one from the company even bothered to get involved.

The Sunday was an even bigger disaster as there was only one other team. This cannot be counted as a rugby tournament but a complete rip off by revel rugby.
The experience was awful and we will not be booking through them again.

From the outset everything seemed well organised, and we were looking forward to what was sold as a great rugby tour experience. Unfortunately, things quickly went downhill.

Around 6 weeks before the tour, after most people had already paid the majority of the cost, we were told the caravan park had been changed. This was presented as an “upgrade,” but in reality it was a clear downgrade from what we had originally been sold. To make matters worse, the accommodation was extremely expensive when booked through Revel Rugby, and we were told that unless we used their accommodation, our child wouldn’t be allowed to participate in the tournament. That felt very heavy-handed.

Rather than communicating this properly themselves, Revel Rugby used our club organiser as a go-between to deliver the bad news, which was unfair and put unnecessary pressure on them.

The change in accommodation also split year groups across different locations, which created avoidable childcare and logistical issues. When we had to reduce our party size from 4 to 3 because of the change, the response was poor, delays in replying, they offered a £15 discount per person, which effectively meant we were still paying close to the original cost for four people.

The caravan park itself didn’t live up to what was advertised, there were no proper kids’ food options as they had ran out despite Revel Rugby booking it for children’s rugby event, and the service was generally very poor.

As for the tournament, the organisation was frankly a shambles. Our year group had only one other team and ended up playing younger age groups with different rules, which made things confusing and difficult for everyone involved. Other age groups were similarly sparse, and we were told that many local teams only became aware of the tournament the week before.

There were no real Revel Rugby representatives on-site, just third-party event staff handing out medals. There was a clear lack of ownership and accountability.

The only positive was our team organiser, who did an outstanding job ensuring the kids still had a great time despite everything. Without that effort, the experience would have been far worse.

Overall, this felt like a poorly organised event with very weak customer service and a strong focus on maximising revenue rather than delivering a quality experience. I would strongly advise others not to use Revel Rugby. Clearly just after taking people’s money.

Do not book with Revel. Honestly ive been to many far better run amateur festivals. No staff, no refs, U7s lumped into an U8s competition with no heads up for either team. No welcome, no stalls, merch and the facilities in Cheshire were poor at best. Add in accommodation being changed 2 months out to somewhere 45mins away each way is woeful. We only came back on the Sunday as we felt sorry for the one team left who'd traveled 4 hours. None if the U8s teams we spoke to would book again. Luckily due to our own club volunteers the kids had fun regardless but this is below shoddy. Shout.out to the one member of staff on site who just stood in one place all day throwing a ball to himself.

Fake 5 star reviews. We are taking this further as it is a safety issue. They need reporting to the RFU.

I’m genuinely shocked to see the positive reviews and want to know where these amazing experiences were because that certainly wasn’t our experience - unfortunately.
We paid a huge amount of money to this company. To then turn up and play barely any rugby! And to be told by Ellesmere Port they were contacted a week before to try and make up some numbers! We booked in June 2025 which gives the organisers plenty of time to get some invitational teams in.
There was no festival atmosphere at all, no food stalls, no sponser stands, a poor attempt of a coffee stall. The toilets in the changing rooms of the run down sports complex were disgusting.
A fancy stage to use for photo opportunities and a bit of music on some speakers but no big end of festival round up. Older age groups didn’t have refs as promised. No official photographer going round. The 2 revel guys weren’t even from the company. To then pay £5 per car per day for the car park on top of everything we’ve already paid.
Money going out of people’s accounts due to a stripe issue.
An expensive weekend away with barely any rugby played - thank god for the coaches and parents helping create the fun. We will just travel down the road next time and play local teams instead.
