Grifters

Be very careful if you take ‘roomerflex’ cancellation option. This company is based in the USA and not regulated by U.K. trading standards. It’s virtually impossible to get your money back from them. Burned for £300 in 2020. Avoid! Contract is worthless, a very shoddy, dishonest company of grifters.

What actually happened is that You have booked a room and was immediately notified that the reservation couldn't be confirmed - and that you will be refunded in full.

DO NOT GIVE THIS COMPANY YOUR MONEY! They are scam artists. Please use a reputable travel agency or hotel instead!!

When I made a hotel reservation on their site, the entire time they made it appear like it was 100% refundable. The minute I make the reservation and reach the confirmation page, the fine print became clearer, and it was only obvious then that under the RoomerFlex guarantee only 80% of my reservation would be refundable. I immediately emailed them within 5 minutes of making the reservation and told them I've been duped and I don't agree to their conditions. Their customer service agent responded that they would refund me 100% of the cost back. I have this in writing! I then got a reservation confirmation again that said in the cancellation section "100% refund." Of course the money never was refunded. Over the course of the next FIVE MONTHS I e-mail multiple times demanding for my money back. The customer service is AWFUL and they never respond or when they finally do it's some way to deflect and never provide an actual resolution. I finally was able to get 80% of my money back, but they promised me 100%. I am still fighting for that remaining amount!

It's time to fight dirty with dirty. If you find are in the U.S. and find yourself in the same situation, please try these methods:
1. Dispute the charge with your credit card company
2. File a complaint with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau
3. File a complaint with your state's Attorney General's office
4. File a complaint with the Better Business Bureau
5. Sue them in small claims court. I checked the terms and conditions. There is no arbitration clause. You can sue and win in small claims court.
6. Spread the word and tell your friends, family, neighbors, and community members to avoid Roomer!

First of all, you were refunded for your reservation.
When you made your booking - you chose a 80% refundable option - and when you cancelled you received 80% refund directly to your credit card.
As Roomer strives to improve its services, we've upgraded our refund options since that, and now offer 100% refund option.

Hotel refund, "we'll get back to you but never did"

I booked a hotel for our holiday on January 2020 through an agency called Prestige. We supost to leave in March 2020 but then everything suddenly on a lockdown. We canceled our trip we got all the refund back from the airline as well as the insurance money that we paid. Except the hotel, we canceled for refund a week before our due date to go in March 2020 but till now never seen any refund. They said "will get back to you" but never did

Brilliant for selling rooms you can no longer use!

I sold a room on Roomer that I could no longer stay in and was unable to get a refund on from the hotel. It was a really easy process selling the room, you can set your own price and it sold 2 days later! The transition to the buyer was very simple too. Would definitely use again rather than try and quibble with hotels for a refund!

Great experience!

I booked through Roomer all the hotels on my trip I and it was wonderful!! Even when I had to cancel one of the hotels I could post on Roomer site and someone else bought it. I highly recommend booking hotels through Roomer.

10th review on this terrible company

10th review on this terrible company. Have not heard from them about my refund which I should have had after cancelling my holiday in March 2020. Well actually I am lying, they emailed me 5 days ago asking if I was well and that's all. The nerve of them.

A disgrace of a company

Roomer are a joke of a company, we cancelled our hotel booking in February 2020 and I’ve still not had my money back. You call and there is a voicemail saying they have no support agents and I’ve emailed them for 18 months on a weekly basis and only had 2 replies. Secret Escapes, as pointed out don’t care and have washed their hands with it all.

Just give me my money back!!

Then to get a reply saying here is £4 when I’m after £65 is just insulating. The positive thing about leaving a review is I’ve had a response!

This company is a disgrace

This company is a disgrace. I am still awaiting my refund since March 2020. I had been informed by Secret Escapes last year that Roomer had received the full payment and that they had 120 days to process the refund. This time has passed and I have not heard anything. Every time I send them an email, I get a standard message that their accounts department is processing my refund. DO NOT USE THEM - YOU DO NOT GET YOUR MONEY BACK.

They advertise their services as
For a small fee, you can protect your reservation and receive 80% refund if you have to cancel. With RoomerFlex™ 1-Click Cancellation, getting your money back couldn’t be easier!
What a joke!!!!!!!!!!
I have been trying since July to obtain a refund but to no avail.
They never reply, and Secret Escapes have washed their hands of it, saying its with Roomer
So annoyed and will NEVER use this company again

Another Disgusting COVID experience…

Another Disgusting COVID experience with Roomer

We booked our holiday last year with Secret Escapes with Roomer insuring the short break for peace of mind that if we need to cancel we are covered.
Like many others here, as soon as the pandemic started, we got an email from Roomer informing us that they have cancelled our protection and that they would refund us our money back with 120 days.
We also got a follow up note from Secret Escapes to apologize on behalf of Roomer for this and that they have paid Roomer so no reason for Roomer not to pay us back.

More than a year on and Roomer has not refunded us our money back and they are intermitanly responding to us, but so far have only stated the obvious and asked if Secret Escapes have refunded us. The insurance contract is with Roomer. The seem to believe that the law of contract does not apply to them!
APPALLING SERVICE!!
April 2021 update - still chasing and still no refund.

Roomer Replied as below.
My updated response is simple. 13 months ago Roomer withdrew their cancellation insurance policy and promised to repay the fee within 120 days.Secret Escapes (with whom we booked the hotel) assure me that they have passed all monies due to Roomer, but Roomer are continuing to prevaricate. Roomer has had my money. They cancelled the contract unilaterally. They promised to refund the fee. They have not done so. They have broken the initial contract, and now have not fulfilled their promise to repay. The new promise is to make it right. OK....Pay up!

Error Fixed within a Day

When checking out on the Roomer site I encountered an error message and tried to put the booking through a few times. When I kept getting the error message I decided to stop and try a different site. After booking a new room I saw that the booking had gone through each time I was getting an error message and had multiple booking charges. While not the greatest first interaction with a new company, the customer support team was very quick to refund all charges, cancel the initial booking so I was not double booked and add a credit to my account so that I can try them again in the future. It was a very quick response, and they worked to win me back as a customer. I will definitely look for an opportunity to book with Roomer in the future. Great customer support!

Disgusting COVID experience with Roomer

We booked our holiday in Feb last year with Secret Escapes and Roomer with the peace of mind that if we need to cancel we are covered.
Like many others here, as soon as the pandemic started, we got an email from Roomer informing us that they have cancelled our protection and that they would refund us our money back with 120 days.
We also got a follow up note from Secret Escapes to apologize on behalf of Roomer for this and that they have paid Roomer so no reason for Roomer not to pay us back.

So not only where we left to try to arrange our cancellation options with the hotel, but also more than a year on and Roomer has not refunded us our money back and they are not responding to us.
APPALLING SERVICE!!
