Samso Energy Reviews 

I’ve dealt with Samso Energy recently and honestly, it’s been refreshingly straightforward. Scott Rowe was great to deal with — knowledgeable, responsive, and actually followed through on what he said (rare these days). Communication was clear, no waffle, and everything ran smoothly from start to finish. It genuinely felt like a company that knows what it’s doing and values its customers. Would happily recommend Samso Energy based on my experience.

The representative Scott Rowe was excellent from start to finish! He really took the time to understand my needs and as a novice held my hand throughout. The installation was quick and seamless too

A fully working PV solar system. Always polite and helpful throughout from office and on site. There were issues with meeting agreed dates, and some snagging items. All though were professionally and satisfactorily remedied. Very happy with the system, and having them back to install a heat pump with full heating installation, which must be a good recommendation.

From start to finish communication was superb, the scaffold team, the installers were all very considerate and cleaned up any debris.

The team did a fabulous job installing my Solar and Heat pump. They were on time, helpful, cleaned up daily until installation completed and informed me of all progress /problems/adaptations as they went along. I have had no problems with the system which has been running now for 5 months and they were good at explaining how to use the controller app to get the best out of the system and advising on the best tarrif to use.

The experience from start to finish with Samso was incredibly easy. Standout mentions to Bruce and Claire whose communications and explanations were fantastic with any questions and requests. The installation went 99% smoothly with any unforeseen issues quickly addressed and resolved by the installation team. The solar and battery system we have now looks very cool installed and has been working very well. I liked the work done and products so much I have just had an additional battery installed to further future proof the system!

The sales team where really good and sorted out all the decisions on what options to take. They sorted out the DNO without issue and the install was quick and easy with minimal fuss

I would say that everyone who visited my house on behalf of Samso (panel installers, electricians, scaffolders) was an expert in their field, who also felt a personal pride and responsibility for getting it done right.

But I found they did not spend enough time explaining how it works. They were always in a rush.

Excellent communication from the team at Samso on the installation of my new heat pump. The installation team were very efficient.

Had an amazing experience with every member of the team, from the survey call, to the home visit. Samso staff made me feel comfortable from the start, were not pushy and gave me a home survey - which discovered that I could be saving much more than I am spending by having a solar panel and battery installed at my home. I was unsure how to use the inverter initially, but the aftercare were there to answer any calls I had. Thanks to Samso I am saving much more than I had initially thought. I am very grateful to the team!

Leaving the review I wish I saw before selecting Samso. Encountered numerous problems:

*Both the solar install (which came first) and heat pump were delayed a few times. Showed little consideration for the fact we had vacated our house to facilitate the installation, and the toll the delays had on our plans/other works we had lined up. Delays came to nearly 3 weeks in total. Thankfully we stayed with family and were not paying to stay elsewhere.
*Many changes in scope e.g. told we were getting one make/model of heat pump to then another being delivered/installed; same for the cylinder (we were told 250L which was then changed to 200L) and some radiators.
*Felt pressured to accept the changes in scope to not impact the already delayed works any further; e.g. got a text at 8am when the works had started saying they needed to change the radiator in the bathroom (the one they ordered will not fit). Why this wasn’t picked up at an earlier stage/when they came to measure up is beyond me. We weren’t given any time to consider alternatives.
*My impression is that comms between head office and the installers is poor. Directors told us one thing, installers on the ground told us differently. Installed shared frustrations that their seniors were making promises that they had to try and keep.
*Some standard workmanship IMO (see Google photos) e.g., not wiping down walls before installing radiators (meaning there is dirt we can’t reach to clean), welding marks on walls, gaping holes around pipes, cables over an external air vent etc. Another example is the back door radiator – the back door was fully open when this was installed. When the installer went to leave for the day they couldn’t shut the back door because of the position of the radiator! They shifted the radiator, however we are now left with a clearance between the radiator/back door the width of a pound coin. Not ideal (see Google photo).
*Solar installers left cigarette butts all over the garden. Emailed head office to ask them to be more mindful with the heat pump install; message either wasn’t passed down or taken seriously. More cigarette butts and tobacco pouches were left after the heat pump works.
*After the solar install, scaffolding was left for a few weeks. We chased Samso a couple of times to ask when it would be taken down, and was told “what do you expect me to do about it?” – I don’t know, maybe have a better handle on your subcontractors? It took me suggesting I wouldn’t be paying until the scaffolding was taken down for them to chase their subcontractors to get it taken down.
*After the works, we were left without hot water for a day. After this was addressed, they then had to come back out a few days later as the cylinder was leaking. To give credit, they did come/address this fairly quickly.
*Gave full access to the house & gave them keys, asked them to to lock up when they leave. Swung by one evening after they had left to check on the works, to find a downstairs window left wide open and lights left on upstairs.
*Damage to furniture, even though we had cleared space/rooms according to their instructions. Biggest damage to a support beam of a futon, which the installers had moved between rooms/thrown on another bed. Samso apologised and arrange to get the beam fixed but took over a month of me chasing to check on things. Like with the solar, us suggesting we would hold back a portion of the final bill seemed to spur them to get it fixed and back with us promptly afterwards.
*Tried to overcharge us by nearly £1000 when the final invoice came! No apology or explanation for the mistake. Gave the impression they may not have their house in order behind the scenes.
*Provided commissioning documents over a month late. Realised when got a call from the MCS following up on the works who flagged this was a breach of their guidelines (to provide these 10 days after the install is complete).

Glad we now have working solar and heat pump installed, however it was headache after headache with Samso and unfortunately I would not recommend them.
