I made several attempts to book an appointment with Scottish Gas. Each time, the appointment was cancelled another time enginner didn't show up . Customer service promised on multiple occasions to follow up on the case and phone me back, but not a single person ever did. The lack of communication is shocking. I've wasted hours trying to get this resolved and I'm left with no service and no information. Would not recommend based on this experience.

Reporting a simple internal gas pipe bracket coming away from wall turns out to be a convoluted waste of time, even when paying for care package which we will now be cancelling. The bracket fitting is there to stop the pipe coming away causing a gas leak but these people want you to contact this person that department a complete run around. Youre fired

I am on Universal credit and ended up with over £3,000 of debt to what I thought was a smart meter I had inherited from a previous tenant. Had paid in monthly, no contact from Scottish gas then got landed with this bill. Got in touch with StepChange, they say I should offer £11.56 monthly but all I get is foreign people I can't understand. I am not at all racist but I can't understand them and am getting nowhere. I am 65 and recovering from cancer. am lost

13 mnths waiting for Scottish/British…
13 mnths waiting for Scottish/British gas to connect my pay as you go gas smart meter,had at least 10 engineers out and 5 new supply meters installed(even though the engineers say don't need replaced but they have to do what there told) even they say company is a joke,no problems at my end, it's there back office that's the problem, they have no idea what they are doing, call service useless have called easily 50 times ands that true, had at least 10 complaints raised not one been answered to, for the last year I've been told we'll put an engineer out wait 28 days to get connected and that should be working, so 13 times I've waited 28 days still nothing, worked fine until they updated system, electric smart paye as you go works fine, still waiting to be connected so had no other choice but to register my complaint with the energy ombudsman, God knows how long that will take, also had £110 credit on my meter when it stopped working asked them to transfer to my credit bill which has an outstanding balance and that's not been done either even though I have emails telling me rest assured it's getting done, that was December still waiting, asked for itemised bills for the last year because I don't agree with what's been charged, still waiting and my debt is growing as I'm not paying till I know have proof of usage, for a company as big as this they are shocking to deal with (apart from the engineers that come out and have to do unnecessary work, they're great and understanding and am on first name terms with them as I've seen so much of them) PLEASE If you're thinking of going with Scottish /British gas, DONT Avoid at all cost , would have given zero star rating but wasn't an option hence they got 1 star

Update review, absolutely DISGUSTING COMPANY, British gas STOLE MY DETAILS / data breach & I had to contact ICO .
Scottish gas put my meters on to there company, an Arores transfer on 30th January & IM DISABLED, they left me WITH NO GAS , ( I need gas send an engineer)
I'm also very mentally ill & im now still with NO GAS on the 13th February & STILL THIS COMPANY have not helped a DISABLED PERSON mental illnesses person, I'm absolutely freezing cold cold & not far off 50 years old but still I cannot understand any company that treats any person this way, never mind a disabled mentally ill person, wow .
On my last review I got a reply underneath, saying "WE SCOTTISH GAS WILL HELP IMMEDIATELY"
THAT'S just to make them look like they care but truly they didn't even reply when I Messaged about this FRAUDULENT act all 8 days on the trot now I'm ignored oh my god but a Data breach is very serious I was told to contact trading standards, hope everyone else avoids this kind of company. Not nice at all

I’ve been promised someone would fix my smart meter 3 times but they just ignore you and keep sending estimated bills. Shocking service.
Terrible experience
Terrible experience, moved into a property in nov where scottish gas was the energy supplier, called them to set up an account, was told bill would be generated in 7/10 days, no bill arrived and I still couldn't access online account. Called again was assured they would be fixed. Called again this morning as still no bill ans no account access and was told they cant generate a bill untill 15th of March 4 months after moving in! No solution offered, refused to escalate to management. Agent was rude spoke over me, couldn't care less about my worries of receiving a huge bill and potentially putting us in debt and hung up when i asked to speak to a manager. Came off the phone and switched suppliers and almost instantly their retention team were on the phone funny how they have time to chat now.

I am not a customer of Scottish gas and yet they have taken £535 off of me. Also, a few years ago they sent the baliffs after me for someone else's debts and I never got a satisfactory resolution to that either.
Awful experience yesterday
Awful experience yesterday. Wasted 2 hours of my life yesterday on the end of their phone! Got cut off twice. First female advisor was helpful.Second female was rude, curt, disinterested, didn't listen to me, spoke over me, and was completely patronising! Finally a male advisor helped me in 15 mins what the surly one couldn't do in 45 minutes before cutting me off! Overall terrible service and being cut off alot makes me wonder!
Just the worst
Just the worst. I phoned on Nov 10th to give my meter reading to get an updated bill as we'd underpaid due to a useless smart meter. The woman I spoke to was surly and refused to give me an updated bill over the phone and said it would be sent out within 7-ten days. Lo and behold no letter arrived. I then tried to call today and after an interminable automated menu, and after suffering than a "longer than usual wait time" a guy answered and asked me the exact same questions I just entered via my keypad, and before he even asked a question he hung up! Just an abysmal service and one of the worst utility suppliers out there.

Frustrating
We have a number of accounts with Scottish gas and have never had so much trouble with any company than what we have had with British Gas. Passive customer service who pass you on instead of resolving anything. Frustrating. Complaints are also unheard or dealt with. Extremely poor and disconnected within the whole service. We are looking to leave now at a loss financially after multiple failures that have gone unresolved and no one takes any accountability for this.

I was told by Scottish Gas call centre staff I was "not willing to help" so terminated my call despite giving my address , account number and meter number because I could not supply my MAP number and she hung up.

cannot speak to relevant department and keep getting pushed from pillar to post been online for over 1.5 hours and just going round in circles whoever is in charge of their AI phone system wants to try it sometime
Impossible to reach customer support
I contacted customer support regarding fire alarm installation fault and went round in circles with the online customer support and got absolutely nowhere. Very frustrating and poor customer service. Similar experience emailing Scottish Gas - no reply. I would not recommend this company I'm sorry to say.
Incompetence of the highest!!
Absolute shit staff and shitty service avoid this company like the plague!! Will be switching to a different company that are more clued in and understanding ASAP..
Absolutely terrible company
Absolutely terrible company. Wasted three days waiting for their engineers to turn up. Day one, guy turns up and says he's the wrong man for the job (wrongly sent by Scottish Power). 2nd day it was cancelled but we were not told until i phoned up the next day (wasted a day waiting). 3rd day, they cancelled again. This time a manager phoned and told us we need to get the job done privately although the reason the job needs doing is down to their incompetence in the first place. Don't bother with a smart meter as this is what caused us to be disconnected from the gas by their incompetent representative from Calisen contracted by Scottish power to do a job they are not capable of. Messed up so many times and cost us time and money
