Excellent service!

I used Searchlight Surveyors to carry out a level 3 RICs survey on a Grade II listed thatched cottage I am in the process of buying. Simon produced a comprehensive report that was free of jargon and easy to read. It has produced a clear list of work that I will need to do, before I start on the dream projects. Very useful. It was a fast turnaround to produce the written report once the inspection had taken place and a lengthy telephone conversation that I found very reassuring in terms of next steps and the work to be done. I found Simon to be professional, prompt communications and I have no hesitation in recommending him to others. should I find myself requiring another property survey I will be returning to him!

Simon had great communication throughout the whole process. A phonecall after the survey was completed and a full report the next day that was thorough and detailed. His knowledge and expertise helped identify issues current and possible in the future which we was able to raise and attempt to have rectified before proceeding further with our purchase.

We were contacted by Simon after using a comparison site for building surveys. His email response was the only one we received which had actually taken the time to look at the property we had concerns about rather than a generic copy and pasted response like all the other companies.

Throughout the process of booking and the actual survey Simon was perfect. He went above and beyond our expectation checking the whole property thoroughly and picking up on not only our initial points of concern but also lots of parts which we had completely missed!

I would be the first to say that as a home buyer I was completely naïve, but because the house we were buying had flat roofs we were keen to get a survey.

Searchlight were the only surveyors out of the five we contacted who would actually inspect roofs at height in the level two survey, in all other cases this was limited to what could be seen from the ground. In our case there were multiple problems with the roofs and as a consequence of the survey we were able to take actions before they became much bigger issues.

The survey was extremely professional and contained actionable points, any jargon was explained in language that made sense to a layperson like me.

In all then, I was incredibly impressed with Searchlight and would recommend them to anyone in need of a surveyor.

We are currently moving house and found Simon via an online search. Thank goodness we did! He is such a wealth of knowledge and guidance; what a fantastic person! Having seen previous survey reports from other properties we have had in the past, we could not believe how much detail Simon included in his. It was clear that he really 'got his hands dirty' and fully investigated the property for us. Communication was spot on and we could not have asked for a better service. If you are scrolling through reviews online, you just need to stop and email Simon straight away!

I would thoroughly recommend Simon's work as well as his character. Throughout unforeseen delays on our house purchase, he was consistently patient, communicative, helpful and flexible with timings. The survey was so thorough and it helped me make an informed decision about whether to purchase the property. Simon is very approachable and answered all of my questions very promptly. Good advice on the type of survey that we needed (others quoted for a higher level survey that was not appropriate for our needs). Was able to complete the survey and issue a detailed report very promptly and happy to follow up by discussing areas that we wanted to clarify. Very happy to recommed.
