We have now had to issue a formal Letter Before Action before commencing court proceedings, because Select Motorhomes appear to think they are somehow above the Consumer Rights Act and that consumer law becomes optional once they have your money.

Quite an impressive approach to customer service Simon (the owner) and Dan (his yes man).
Apparently you can put one thing in writing, take the customer’s money on that basis, quietly supply something cheaper instead and then explain the difference afterwards as though that somehow makes it okay.

When challenged, it was we’re rejecting your rejection and when asked on what basis they didn’t have one and the attitude was essentially take us to court.

The vehicle has now been formally rejected, a Letter Before Action has been issued and, if they continue to ignore the matter, court proceedings will follow. The prospect of being taken to court appeared to concern them remarkably little
I won’t state that they’re conmen. I’ll simply say that paying £15k based on paperwork stating one thing, being supplied with a cheaper alternative that was kept quiet until after signing, and then being ghosted when challenging it has given us a remarkably good idea of what being conned feels like

The company its self is reasonably young.
The staff on the other hand come with lots of experience.
The sales team are there for the selling.
Then there is the mechanical engineers.
There are only 3 of these gents currently at Select.
They have great communication skills, know just about everything thing about their vans.
When we took our MoHo back in for a new battery to be fitted, the lads also found time to carry out some rectification on some bits that we found on our first trip out.
Dan the workshop manager and Jack one of his technicians went above and beyond to make sure our van was ready for the next weekend away.

Absolutely appalling experience.

I placed my motorhome with this dealership under a signed sale-or-return agreement. The vehicle was sold and payment was due in accordance with the agreed schedule. Those payment terms were repeatedly missed.

Instead of being paid as agreed, I was forced to chase for updates and payments every single day, both by phone and email. Communication was poor throughout, and I spent weeks trying to obtain clear answers about money that should already have been in my account.

After repeated missed payments and broken promises, I formally threatened legal action. It was only after that point that payments began to arrive. No customer should have to resort to threatening court proceedings simply to receive money that is contractually owed to them.

Based on the explanations I was given and my experience throughout this process, I came to the conclusion that customer sale proceeds were being used by the business as a source of working capital and that customers were effectively being repaid when funds became available, rather than in accordance with the agreed contractual payment dates.

Having tens of thousands of pounds outstanding while constantly chasing for updates was incredibly stressful and completely unnecessary. While I have now received the full amount owed, that does not change the fact that the agreed payment schedule was not honoured and that I had to fight every step of the way to get the matter resolved.

Based on my experience, I would never use this company again and would strongly urge anyone considering a sale-or-return arrangement to think very carefully before proceeding.

From our first night in the motorhome, my wife and I realised what a special moment it was for us. After all the worry and uncertainty, we finally achieved something we had dreamed about for many years. We were genuinely emotional to think that we had managed to do this in our lives, and we are grateful that Select Motorhomes played such a big part in making that possible.

We saw Dan. He told us the procedure really selling our motor home.
The process was quick and efficient.
Dan and the team were polite, professional throughout.

Had a really good experience with Select Motorhomes when we were looking into selling our van. The team were friendly, easy to deal with, and gave us clear, honest advice from the start. Nothing felt pushy, just proper guidance which made the whole thing a lot easier.

I recently took a trip to view a Camper at Select. The Sales Team were fantastic and I could not fault them. Dan took me through all of the options without being pushy and we came away with a fantastic deal. We cannot wait to pick up the camper and get on the roads. So excited.

I brought a camper from another dealership, but ended up with some issues. The supplying dealer were extremely unhelpful so we spoke with Dan & Jack at Select. They were very helpful and managed to liaise with our warranty company to get everything sorted out even though we had bought elsewhere previously. We will certainly be returning to Select Motorhomes to look after us in all aspect of our camper life moving forward. Thank you again.

Fantastic service, really went above and beyond to help with a problem on my motorhome, that I bought 9 months previously. The whole team (including Jerry the dog) have been very welcoming and non pushy when buying our last motorhome.

Nothing on the day was too much trouble. They even arranged collection from the Train Station for us.

EDIT. So because we didnt ask, you did not think that giving us money back for a piece of paper you couldnt supply, was the right thing to do? We just assumed you would refund that out of decency!!! Decent isnt a word id use in the same sentence as select motorhomes though! We bought a motorhome end of march and explained we needed a certificate of conformity as we were moving to Portugal and needed that to be able to get portuguese plates. It was a condition of buying it. Barrie said that was fine and we paid for the certificate of conformity and for internet to be fitted and an easy fill gas connection. Which cost over £2000.00 and asking price of £34,995. We had issues which were never sorted out,I.e engine management light on all the time, sticky door catch, fridge didnt work. They were never available and they always said they were ringing back then didn't. After not hearing from them for 3 months re certificate of conformity we spoke to Barrie and he hadn't done anything about it. My husband spoke to Burstner and we weren't able to get one as it was over 10 years old. This meant we couldn't take the motorhome to Portugal! We took the motorhome back and told them we couldn't keep it and asked for a refund. They would only refund the original cost, not the extras but we had to wait 1 month for the money due on 21st August. We had no money on 21st paid into our bank so whilst we were on holiday with our grandchildren we had to chase them and rung 7 times to be told we would be rung back each time. They just didn't seem bothered. I sent and email telling them that I didn't want to get solicitors involved. Eventually we were paid the cost of the purchase price only at 5pm on 22nd August. We didn't even get the cost refunded to us for the certificate of conformity. Shame on you select motorhomes. REPLY. YOU did NOT advertise it! I kept checking and on the day we were due to be paid, Dan rang you. Straight after the motorhome popped up for sale! It took 7 phonecalls to get our money back and a threat from us to get a Solicitor involved, I have the email and phone records. NOBODY found out about the certificate either. It was 3 months later and it was us who had to find out!. You are only after the money, Your after sales customer service is appalling!

Select sold my motorhome for me, and I was happy with the price agreed. I had no hassle from tyre-kickers and didn't have to wait around for the inevitable no-shows. I recommend Simon and the team.

We were really stuck as we were due to go to France and the double glazing failed at the front restricting our view. Our previous dealer couldn't do the work until late September 2025. Select moved their diary around to fit us in quickly and did a fabulous job of taking out the whole window and replacing it. All in one day. Great job all round and lovely people to deal with.
They do all types of servicing and have booked further work to be carried out at a later date.

Our experience of Select Motorhomes- We spent £65k and ended up feeling totally frustrated, underwhelmed, and annoyed by the whole experience - difficult to encapsulate just how poor you can end up feeling from what should have been a great and exciting moment.
We bought a Bailey Adamo from them - and really wish we hadn't ! The sales team / senior sales people were in our experience dishonourable, unprofessional, amateurish & who lacked any degree of integrity. When spending that amount of money you expect all those qualities to be on view and backed up when something isn't right or needs putting right. Aside from the Lady who answers the bulk of the incoming calls and the Lady in the parts department ,who were decent and tried to help, the rest of it was a shambles & a complete let down. They will do anything to squirm out of correcting a situation or deal honourably with putting something right. I wouldn't trust anything they say after our experience. When i asked Barrie why he thought i was looking for them to replace a broken window ( given it was the first time we'd opened it & it fell out ! ) he said i'd be surprised what people ( ie his customers ! ) would try to get away with ! Not too insulting then.....
That's the kind of mentality you're dealing with, so make your own mind up !

Therefore, our advice would be ; If you still think it's a good idea to give these guys your money ( it really isn't ! ) then do not leave the forecourt before you have checked everything properly & i mean everything, even down to opening all the windows to make sure they're not broken !! But definitely make sure all your systems are working, ( do not take their word for it ) no matter how long that takes. Also check that everything is complete - so if it has a bike rack, make sure it's complete and doesn't have key parts missing.....
Once you've left the forecourt you're on your own - or you're in for a long and protracted fight to get anywhere - just what you don't need or expect when spending that amount of money.
If i had a choice of buying a motorhome from these guys or one 200 miles away, i would take the drive !
Needless to say - never again with this outfit.

I would avoid this company at all costs they don’t honour anything they say they’re going to do they send out faulty vans and will not honour the warranty. They tried pushing you off to somebody else to the point of even making me pay to take my van to other places to have checks done. Honestly, the worst experience I’ve ever had buying a motorhome

I would advise anyone buying from this company to go elsewhere, great sales bullshit but after serving is 0 .

I’ve broken down 4 times ended up getting AA out I bought a heap of crap with part exchange been on the phone and no common descent call back . Take your money & run …..
