Dress returned on the 13th Jan, received as stated by Self Portrait on the 14th but still no refund 3 weeks later! I was told that they do the refunds in 'bulk' but how dare they keep my money in their account for so long !! Absolutely fuming ! Shall never use this site again !!!

Frustrating situation with the refund for return items. I need to chase self-portrait to get the refund and prove that it was sent though they received it and it was stated in the tracking. Currently I received just partial refund. I hope that i will get the full refund. But no desire to use this shop for further shopping

I can’t rave enough about the Staff at Self-Portrait. Karen was highly accommodating with my request for insight on a specific item. Not only were was she highly responsive, but also consultative which was super helpful especially as this was my first purchase directly from the site. Additionally, I’m about a 9 hour time difference so the fast response time made purchasing a seamless process. I’ll definitely be ordering from Self-Portrait again! Excellent customer service!!

Terrible Experience!!! I bought 3 dresses and they are with security tags on them which I couldn’t wear at all. Email and WhatsApp to their customer service and no reply at all. They need me to pay the shipping fee for return which is completely their fault of this return and why I have to bare the shipping cost? Terrible terrible experience!

I love the look and quality of Self-Portrait, but my recent experience was disappointing. Dealing with Laura, the customer service manager, felt so cold, condescending and abrupt- she was just so unhelpful and patronizing. The agents were no better which is why I escalated it. On top of that, there was very little clarity around international return shipping costs, and no prepaid return labels were provided. Not knowing what I’d be paying upfront made the whole return process way more stressful than it needed to be plus I am still waiting for a my refund! For a brand at this price point, this really needs to be better and a more respectful & pleasant customer service approach is really needed. I will never order from here again and would recommend everyone to stay away - listen to the reviews, I wish I had!

My experience was great with Marta the lovely customer service lady helped me like me and she’s brilliant very very nice lady!! I got everything sorted out so fast very smooth no complications at all very Thank you to have workers like her around!!

DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY!!! I just spent so much money that I didn’t have. I couldn’t even afford to send it the wrong size and they said they sent a confirmation email and receipt. There was nothing I don’t know how to return it because I have no order number and there’s no way to reach them and it’s thousands of dollars. I don’t know what to do.

Horrible customer service. At this price point and during the holidays I’m beyond shocked for their inability to issue refund and only offer credit. I’ll never buy their clothes again. What a shame. What a way to lose a customer for life.

I will report you to the Ombudsman. It is unacceptable to send you so many emails and not respond! I refunded two packages! You sent me an email saying you received one but did not return my money, and you did not confirm the other package! I ask you to check, otherwise I will report you! I want my money back!

Received a defective, previously worn item. Brand refused refund solely based on a 14-day internal policy, despite consumer law clearly protecting buyers in cases of defective goods. Very disappointing first experience.

I had issues with a dress, reached out to customer service, Natalie was phenomenal, not only did they resolve the issues, they reassured me that Self Portrait has a duty of care to their customers through a swift resolution process and the quality of information and advise given. The best customer service ever. 👌

I am extremely disappointed with Self-Portrait’s handling of my online order.

I contacted customer service before dispatch, to request a size change after identifying an error. No action was taken, despite the order not having shipped at that time.

I was only informed after dispatch that no changes were possible and that I would need to return the item at my own cost. What is particularly concerning is that the significant international return shipping cost and lack of a prepaid return label were not clearly disclosed when I was advised to “return after delivery.”

The situation was entirely avoidable and reflects a failure in operational handling rather than a simple policy issue. Escalation has since been delayed due to “management availability,” while the return window continues to run.

For a brand at this price point, this level of customer experience is unacceptable.

The dress looks extremely cheap and does not resemble the video at all. It says “Made in China,” and unfortunately, it really looks like it was made there. Parts of the dress are poorly sewn, with loose and unfinished stitching. The cut is not done well at all, and the bows are sewn on crooked. Overall, it genuinely looks very, very cheap.

Unfortunately, my experience with Self-Portrait has been extremely disappointing.

I placed an order over one month ago for a total of €2,250. The delivery already took much longer than expected, but the real issue started with the return and refund process. I returned the items that did not fit and I am now awaiting a refund of €1,800, which is a significant amount of money.

Despite the return being received, I have been chasing their customer service repeatedly with no real support or solution. Every time, I am told the same thing: that refunds take 14 working days. This now means over three weeks, which is simply unacceptable, especially given the amount involved. This is not something I have experienced with any other comparable brand or online retailer.

It feels unreasonable for a company to hold on to such a large sum for so long, with no flexibility, no escalation, and no genuine assistance from customer service.

It’s a real pity, because the clothes themselves are beautiful. However, with this attitude towards customers and such rigid, slow refund policies, I will never order from Self-Portrait again.

I am still waiting on a return worth nearly £1,000 from an order that I sent back one month ago. Take your money elsewhere.
